My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1924
There seemed to be a lot of things in Hendrix's mind that could not be perceived through an average person's way of thinking. With a belly full of doubts, I waited until the door on the opposite side was closed before I turned back and entered my house.
In the evening, when Irvin came back, it was already time for dinner. Remembering that we had a new neighbor, I mentioned it casually at the dinner table, "You'll definitely not be able to guess who moved in." "Who?" Irvin asked nonchalantly. He was obviously uninterested in their arrival.
"It's..." I trailed off.
"Ding-dong!" The bell rang.
The words were just right in my throat, but I was interrupted by the sudden doorbell.
Irvin did not like to be disturbed during meal times, so all the maids would return to their rooms after serving the dishes. As there was no one left in the hall to call on and I was close to the door, I stood up and told him, "I'll get the door."
Irvin had actually already set down his cutlery, but seeing that I had already walked over, he had no choice but to let me go instead.
It had been easier to beat him in the trivial matters of life recently.
As soon as I opened the door, a chubby little face appeared at once. "Madam Pretty!" The voice came from the child.
Wynn opened the door, and his tiny, grape- like eyes rolled around as he stared at me with a smile.
I grinned at him and said, "Wynn, what can I do for you?"
"There's no water and there's a blackout at home. The new house is dark and boring," he sulked.
"I see..." I mumbled while frowning and touching the head of the child lovingly.
Before Hendrix moved in, the villa had been idle for a long time. Since he decided to move in so abruptly, it was inevitable that incidents like these were bound to happen. Hendrix suddenly poked his head out of the halfopened door. "Wynn's a picky eater," he said.
"Huh?" I was stunned and did not understand what he meant.
Wynn tugged on the corner of my clothes and said remorsefully, "Madam Pretty, I'm really
hungry. Look, my stomach is flat."
Hendrix added, "My family can't cook, and he doesn't eat takeout either."
When he spoke, he remained expressionless. It was a special sort of indifference.
But I understood then. The two guys were here for a free meal.
I smiled and bowed my head while

meal with me,
Once I said that, Hendrix replied, "Alright."
His tone was as calm as still water, but he spoke so fast that I had a feeling that he could not wait any longer.
If the famous lunch buffet was
worth tens of millions of dollars,
then Hendrix, the wealthiest man in
the district, was worth at least a million dollars. What reason did he have to covet the home-cooked dishes of regular citizens?
"Yay!" Wynn cheered as he pulled me inside, and I forgot all about what I was thinking of.
Initially, I was a little worried that
Irvin would be unhappy if I brought them in rashly. However, he did not show any displeasure because of his civility. Instead, he took the initiative to stand up and say, "I'll get us two more sets of cutlery."
Wynn was disciplined very well as he trotted over to help.
Irvin patted his shoulder and said, "Children should just sit and wait."
After that, he turned and went into the kitchen.
Hendrix immediately walked up to Wynn and asked, "Don't you remember what I taught you yesterday?"
"What is it?" Wynn responded. Perhaps the child could not remember at the moment because he had been taught too many things.
Hendrix said coldly, "You can't respond to this weird aunt."
"I remember," Wynn replied while nodding repeatedly.
"The same goes for the odd uncle. You have to see and deduce for yourself, do you understand?" Hendrix asked.
