My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1925
As soon as the words left Hendrix's mouth, Irvin walked out of the kitchen. The atmosphere was so awkward that I couldn't help but take a deep breath.
This rich man not only had an unpredictable temper, but was also inept at socializing. How could he have a meal at someone else's house yet teach his child to ignore the host family?
I cradled my forehead and could not help but worry about the future of the young sweetie pie. With such a father, the child was sure to suffer a great deal in the future.
Thanks to Irvin's high level of tolerance, after a few seconds of confronting Hendrix, he took the initiative to look away, went back to the dining table, and sat down. He completely ignored the tense atmosphere "Come over and have a seat. Just make yourself at home, you don't have to be so stiff," I said as I walked over to the chair next to Irvin and took my seat while calling them over.
Irvin picked some food for me and ushered, "Have this. If I get off work late next time, you should eat first."
"It's okay, food tastes better when there are more people eating together," I assured him while grinning. I remembered that Wynn liked food that was sweet, so I placed a piece of sweet and sour pork into his bowl.
Wynn took the spoon and looked at the meat. He did not budge, and he turned his head to look at Hendrix innocently, as if waiting for instructions.
I could not tell if Hendrix was happy or upset about it. "She likes you, that's why she offered you food. You can eat it, you don't have to restrain yourself today," he said.
Wynn did not stop to think about his father's dignity as he asked, "But Daddy, you normally have an angry expression on your face..."
The little fellow said as he lowered his head and put the meat into his mouth silently. He ate very slowly, but he looked satisfied.
If he was not careful, the sauce would stain his mouth.
Hendrix caught sight of this from the corner of his eye. He pulled out a handkerchief from his suit pocket and skillfully wiped it off for his son.
Wynn took the opportunity to stuff half of the piece of meat into Hendrix's mouth with a proud expression. "Dad, it's delicious!"
Hendrix frowned and let go of him before returning to his seat.
When Wynn noticed that he refused to eat it, he stuffed it into his own mouth instantly and muttered, "Daddy, you're so petty. If you're jealous, you should get Madam Pretty to give you one too."
He omitted the word "feed".
"You shouldn't talk during meal times," Hendrix reminded.
When he finished speaking, Wynn raised his small hand to cover his mouthin a panic. He then realized that he had committed a taboo set by his father again.
At that moment, that same hand was grimy.
Hendrix could not help but grimace. He leaned over impatiently to clean Wynn's face.
That scene was extremely funny and amusing to me, and I could not hold my laughter in any longer.
Although Hendrix was a male chauvinist, he was also doing his best to take care of Wynn.
However, the little guy was being
corrupted by him. He blamed his et
loss of control over Wynn on the
beautiful aunt and weird uncle, in other words, me and Irvin,
Just as I was lost in my thoughts, Wynn lifted his cutlery and challenged me, "Madam Pretty, give Dad a piece of meat!"
The weight of the atmosphere instantly grew tenfold.
I did not think that affluent people like Hendrix would casually eat what others put into his bowl.
The gap between our family
backgrounds was evident beforezmy
eyes. Merely eating with him at the
same table was a little peculiar, not mentioning the intimate gestures exchanged.
"Wynn, be a good boy. Your father can help himself to the dishes, how much..." I trailed off.
I had just wanted to change the topic, but I did not expect Hendrix to play along. Just then, he added, "Wynn, I want some sweet and sour pork."
Although he called Wynn's name, his words were clearly meant for me.
Irvin stopped short when he heard this. The strangeness of everything was nearly suffocating.
