My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1931
Once Hendrix was sure that the little fellow was completely distracted, he raised his head and with his sharp gaze, instantly locked his eyes onto Freya and Evan while he said gravely, "Now, you may speak." Because of his tenacious figure and overbearing presence, even thought there wasn't a hint of anger on his face, he looked downright intimidating as he sat on his chair.
I could tell, more or less, what was happening, but I wasn't entirely sure. All I could do was to stare intensely at Freya.
Hendrix's imposing manner was frightening, and didn't even look angry. Freya could only risk it as she exclaimed, "You heard me. I want Arianna and Wynn to be together again. Nothing should stop a mother from being with her own son!"
Freya had already told me about this before, so I wasn't surprised.
I wanted to see how Hendrix would react.
Hendrix happened to look over and fixed his gaze on me for a second before he looked away.
Right after that, he brought his gaze down as if he had just heard a childish joke. He sneered and asked, "What then?"
Freya had to bite the bullet as she opened her mouth again, "She's your only wife."
After that, she seemed to realize how bold she was at this moment, so she stared at Hendrix discreetly with a cautious look on her face.
Hendrix was really good at concealing his emotions, his face looked apathetic. It was silent yet frightening.
It seemed that Freya wasn't able to guess what he was thinking, so she tugged at the corner of my shirt anxiously, as if asking me to protect her should anything happen.
I couldn't understand why she was so confident in me.
Even if Wynn had a very close relationship with me, it didn't mean that Hendrix would love me. Before I learned the truth, I was just another scheming girl in Hendrix's eyes who had approached his son several times. He had no tolerance forthat.
Instead of being concerned about
Hendrix, I was more eager to find the
truth. I pursed my lips together and gathered the courage to speak, "Whatever Freya said may not sound credible, but I feel that she has
I
reason to lie..."
As I spoke, Hendrix's face didn't flinch at all, but his eyes looked slightly detached from reality. He was obviously listening very carefully.
His willingness meant that there was a chance to get closer to the truth.
After saying that, I paused and glanced at Wynn.
Like an adult, he was completely entranced with the microcomputer. He seemed to be playing a game with ease, as he had a slight smile on his face.
As I watched him, my heart
softened, and smiled along with
him, unaware of what I was doing as I muttered to myself, "It'd be very simple to verify anyway. I can take Wynn for a paternity test, we'll know for certain then."
Once I had finished talking, the entire room focused on Hendrix.
He sat in his chair with a look of indifference, still keeping his thoughts and emotions elusive.
This suffocating silence made me feel very uncomfortable, so I fiddled with my fingers uncontrollably.
I could hardly accept all the things that Freya mentioned. Hendrix would definitely feel the same way.
He was the wealthiest person in the
country, with a gentle and noble
fiancee by his side... To him, if these claims really were true, it would make things very troublesome for him.

Suddenly, I remembered something, so I asked him, "Have you forgotten the past as well?"
From the moment Freya revealed everything to me, all my thoughts had been on Wynn because we seemed destined to be together. However, as for Hendrix and I... I had neglected him...
To me, Hendrix was just a stranger whom I had only known for a couple of days, and I found him a little annoying.
