My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1932
I thought that Hendrix would stay silent until the end, but all of a sudden, he made a threat without even thinking twice, "Everything that was mentioned just now will remain in this room. If even a hint of this gets out, there will be consequences."
When I heard this, I was stuck in a daze for a moment, but I soon understood what he meant and nodded repeatedly while I reassured him, "Don't worry about that."
Hendrix was the head of the Roberts Group and everything around him determined the success and failure of the company.
The arranged marriage between the Forbes and the Roberts family was now public news. If news got out that Hendrix had been raising the child of his ex-wife in secret, it might cause a drop in value of his company's stock.
Then he raised his head abruptly and stared at me with his chilly eyes. "You have some pretty good acting skills. Did you learn that from Cyril?"
Hendrix knew Cyril?
It meant that he still had memories of our mutual friends, but his tone wasn't very friendly.
"What do you mean?" I asked. I could feel the hostility in his gaze, and I was a little confused.
Even if he saw his ex-wife, whom he had divorced via a mutual agreement, you'd think he'd be a little bit anxious to see her alive again?
Hendrix ignored me and turned his head towards Freya. He rapped the table with his knuckles as he demanded, "Two years ago, news of Arianna's death had already been made public. You plan on taking advantage of me with such a phony act?"
When he said this, Freya's entire body tensed up, as though Hendrix had pierced her where she most vulnerable.
I was completely shocked.
So, I've been dead for two whole years?
A thought popped up in my mind, "Criminal law stipulates that when a victim has been missing for four years, their family members and spouses are allowed to apply for their death certificate."
I've been in a coma for six years, and the death certificate was issued two years ago In other words, anyone who wanted to prove that I wasn't dead might have given up long ago. Once four years have passed, they couldn't wait to submit the
application to the court.
At that moment, I finally understood what Irvin meant when he said, "Just pretend that this woman named 'Arianna' doesn't exist in this world."
My head was buzzing, I looked at
Hendrix. The only people who could submit the application for my death certificate would be my close relatives. Then, was it done by my own family, whose whereabouts I had no knowledge of, or was it done by this emotionless man?
But based on Hendrix's expression, I could tell that he didn't have any hope of his wife surviving.
Thinking of this, my heart sank for some reason, and I felt unspeakable sadness.
However, this wasn't the time to be sad.
I calmed myself down and stood up.
I looked at Hendrix solemnly and said, "Regardless of whatever that has happened in the past, you can see me clearly now. I'm living well and have the right to take care of my child. I hope to have some time alone with Wynn."
I was finally reunited with my son. I believed it wasn't long before I could regain the time I had lost with him.
After I said that, Hendrix slowly raised his head. His deep eyes were like a bottomless abyss. "Can't you understand English?" he scoffed.
Then, he paused for a moment and glanced at the little sweetie pie in the distance before continuing impatiently, "Well, let me make this clear. Wynn's mother is dead. Even though you do look like her, you can never replace her. Don't overstep my boundaries."
