My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1942
After a while, he abruptly raised his head and barked an order at Evan, "Send Miss Reid home."
His tone was much colder than before and had a subtle sense of urgency to it.
Evan seemed to be surprised by the result. He was stunned for some time before he reacted and followed Hendrix's instructions. He invited me out of the room and urged me along, "Please, Miss Reid." I didn't get up at once. Instead, I turned around and called out, "Mr. Roberts!"
With the bond I felt as a mother with her child, I didn't believe that the bond between me and Wynn existed without a reason. Maybe something had gone wrong somewhere.
Although I couldn't convince myself that someone would trick Hendrix, I couldn't accept this.
Hendrix ignored my persistence and sternly reprimanded Evan, "Do you need me to repeat myself?!"
I was unwilling to accept the results, so I said, "Mr. Roberts, maybe something went wrong when you sent my DNA for verification, maybe we could..."
Hendrix ignored me. He calmly took the test report from the doctor and flipped through it.
Noticing his arrogant attitude, the anger in my heart boiled. I didn't know what gave me the guts to do this, but I shouted at him, "Hendrix Roberts!" Hendrix finally reacted, but he had merely paused for a moment before he continued reading the report without even bothering to look at me.
I was about to argue with him when Evan chimed in, "Miss Reid, it's time to go."
Although it wasn't pleasant to the ear, I could sense Evan's kind intention. He was afraid that I would irritate Hendrix.
I had no choice but to leave for now.
Evan strode the whole way out, so I had to run to catch up with him. I then asked, "Evan, are you sure the maternity test report is accurate? You've been by Hendrix's side for such a long time. Don't you want to know the truth?"
"Mr. Roberts will investigate everything thoroughly. Miss Reid, you don't have to worry about this."
Evan took me to the back door. After he called the driver over and gave him directions, he then turned around and went back in.
The more thought about it, the more I felt that something was wrong. So, I decided to go back inside and ask the doctor who had carried out the maternity test for

I returned to the room, and after turning a corner, I noticed Jennifer entering the room.
The door wasn't closed. I tiptoed over and stood outside as I eavesdropped on their conversation.
Hendrix was still inside. The two of them seemed to be having an argument. Jennifer was agitated as she snatched the maternity test report in Hendrix's hand away,,

like that? I'm your biological sister. Do you doubt me just because of some gossip?"
She was so angry that she panted for air as she threw the report to the ground.
The doctor was sent away, which left Hendrix, Jennifer, and Evan, who had just entered.
Evan hesitated for a brief moment before he gestured at the report. He asked Hendrix whether he should pick it up, "Mr. Roberts?"
Hendrix calmly stood up and was prepared to leave. He said, "Let's go."
Jennifer wasn't done however. She clung onto Evan, shouting, "It's you! What are you doing back here?"
Evan's face was devoid of emotion as he answered, "Long time no see, Miss Marshall. Mr. Roberts had specially sent someone to bring me back."
"Is he the one who's pulling tricks on
you, talking all this nonsense? You wanted to move out of the Marshall family because of an outsider. We're your family. How could you treat us this way?"
Aggrieved, Jennifer seemed like she was very hurt from the things Hendrix had done in the past.
Hendrix remained indifferent as he asked in a mocking tone, "In that case, can you explain to me what Arianna's death certificate is all about?"
