"You've found out." Jennifer paused before she continued righteously, "I was the one who applied for it under your name. What's wrong with that? You know that I've been sending people to look for her up until two years ago when they finally found her remains. I was afraid that you and Wynn would be saddened at the news, so I dealt with it myself."

Hendrix's gaze turned cold as he adjusted his necktie.

A person like him, who had always been quiet, had his own small tells to hint at how terribly upset he was right now. Although I was standing at a distance, I could sense the surge of murderous intent emanating from him.

Hendrix snorted, "Many people have told me that Arianna is still alive."

Jennifer scoffed and shot Evan a disdainful look, "Did Evan say that? Or was it the good-for-nothings of the Reid family? The body that was found had been tested. It was Arianna. What's there to doubt?" Hendrix lifted his chin arrogantly and uttered casually, "Both parties claim to be right. In this case, I will investigate to find out more about the woman who looks exactly like Arianna."

Hendrix's voice was cold and frightening. Jennifer was shocked by it.

Panicking, she exclaimed, "Hendrix, you don't believe me?"

"Action speaks louder than words, don't they?" Hendrix cast her a meaningful glance and walked towards the door.

I immediately came to my senses and hid behind the safety exit next to me.

As soon as they left, Jennifer's agitated voice rang out as she made a call, "Go and find out who Hendrix has been with recently! Don't leave anyone out!"

I slipped away in silence and arrived at the entrance to grab a taxi.

Along the way, I thought about what had happened earlier.

But, I still couldn't figure out what was going on.

Prey a didn't seem like someone who would just let things be if she had made a mistake. Hendrix didn't lose his temper in front of me but instead quickly sent me away to question Jennifer. One had Marshall as a last name, the other was Roberts, but they were biological siblings. The secret behind it was very intriguing.

Initially, Hendrix didn't know about the death certificate. In that case, why wasn't he surprised when he saw someone who looked exactly like Arianna?

Two years ago, they found Arianna's DNA from that corpse, and I am not related to Wynn by blood. Was this the truth?

If I hadn't lost my memory, things wouldn't have turned out this way.

If I hadn't forgotten the past, all this trouble would disappear.

I would clearly know whether I liked children, what enemies I had, and if I had ever loved anyone.

I wouldn't be strung along by people like this.

When I arrived at the hospital, I sat in the corridor for a while before I returned to Irvin's ward. There were some people inside. They were policemen.

Irvin was taking notes, then he saw me. He smiled and greeted me, "Ariane, you're back."

"Yes, I'm here." I walked over to the side of the bed while Irvin explained the situation to me, "The police want to know more about the case so that they cam solve it as soon as possible."

I nodded and poured out some water into the empty cup on the table.

"Mr. Granger, have you recently gotten into any conflict with anyone?"

"No, I haven't."

"Or maybe you've said something wrong by accident? Perhaps a business-related conflict or something like that?"

"That won't happen. The Granger Group has always operated according to the law, and we value honesty above all else..."

They inquired about any possible criminal motives, but they still couldn't come to any conclusion.

One of the tall policemen suddenly turned his attention towards me, he began questioning me, "Miss Reid, were you in the car at the time as well?"

I nodded and answered solemnly, "Yes. Irvin and I were about to head home together."

They then directed the questions that had been meant for Irvin to me.

The questions revolved around whom we had recently come in contact with or matters that may have had any particular incidents that could cause this. I had just regained consciousness and didn't have many friends, except for Irvin and Freya.

When it comes to enemies...

There seemed to be only one.

Andrea's face, who seemed as if she wanted nothing more than to dismember me, pulsated in my mind. It was a shocking sight.

Just as I was about to say it out loud, Irvin interrupted me by saying, "She was in a coma for a very long time and had just woken up. She has a bad memory and has been by my side all this while, so she doesn't have many opportunities to interact with others."

The policemen nodded and didn't probe further.

They seemed to be very friendly with Irvin. When they left, they

enthusiastically said, "You can count on us to solve this case. Take good care of yourselves."
