I parted my lips, adjusted my face, and leaned over to hold his arm. "Well, there will be a lot of people watching. Don't let them gossip. Cheer up."

Hendrix didn't respond. He looked down at me and smiled. "It's my duty to cooperate with you."

He was being very compliant, but as I looked into his eyes, I felt that something was wrong.

We went straight into the building. When the elevator doors swung open, the entire floor was filled with company staff who were waiting for us. When they saw Hendrix, they all greeted him respectfully, "Good morning, President!"

Hendrix kept calm and took me through the corridor.

Naomi, the manager, followed him obediently. She was only as tall as Hendrix's shoulder, but she still bowed politely and said, "President, what a surprise to see you. We didn't have time to prepare for your visit. Which department are you going to inspect? I'll arrange things for you right away."

Hendrix didn't respond and entered the office. He carefully brought me to the sofa to sit down. I leaned back, crossed my legs, and placed one hand on the armrest. He then asked, "Ryan, are you familiar with the company's policy on staff management and resignations?"

"That's one of the core responsibilities of the personnel department. Naturally, I am well aware of it." Ryan said humbly.

"Well, please assist me with the resignation procedure. From today onwards, remove me from all associated responsibilities in the group," Hendrix said.

"What?" Ryan thought he had misheard, his forehead was glistening with cold sweat. He nervously asked while he was wiping away his sweat, "President, you're joking, aren't you. I am merely a simple manager from the personnel department. How am I qualified to dismiss you?"

This was probably the first time any company had to dismiss the president of their own company.

"Do I look like I'm joking?" Hendrix then calmed down and his face went blank. His look of indifference was so frightening, Ryan the manager, shivered again.

"Well..." Ryan trembled and couldn't

complete his sentence. The assistant standing next to him walked over to him and whispered into his ear, his face immediately lit up and excused himself, "Please

wait a moment. I'll contact someone with the proper authority

"Go ahead," Hendrix said politely. He began tapping on the armrest with his fingers, looking rather bored but relaxed.

There was no need to cause a huge fuss just to leave the Roberts Group. But by doing it this way, we would get the attention from someone from the Marshall family. This would ensure the message gets sent in case Aaron didn't manage to. I didn't stop him and watched him quietly instead.

As expected, someone from the Marshall family showed up.

But it wasn't Jordan. It was Jennifer.

I had a terrible feeling. I thought we could get Jordan to come over, instead, we got this woman.

Jennifer had nearly died in Hendrix's hands last time. When she saw him again, her eyes still looked fearful. There was a space to sit right next to Hendrix, but she circled around, walked opposite from where I was and sat down.

"I heard from Ryan that you intend to be dismissed from the company, Hendrix?" Jennifer asked.

Hendrix arched his fingers and twiddled his thumbs. He looked at her and smiled meaningfully. Suddenly, he beckoned to me. "Everything is up to your sister-in-law. You can speak to her."

I was confused. We had talked about it at home, and I was only here to accompany him for the formalities. What was the meaning of this?
