My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 807
Four hours later.
This was my first time in Hanlusia City. Different from Jarold City's bustling prosperity, Hanlusia City's lavishness had a sense of nobility and elegance.
If described as a lady, Jarold City was a noble lady of the royal palace. She would be dignified, beautiful, and of a prominent status.
Meanwhile, Hanlusia City would be a modern lady with a voluptuous figure wearing a traditional dress. She would be visionary and have high standards. Snow in Hanlusia City was different from Jarold City's. It only snowed twice a year and at most thrice. Afterwards, it would immediately melt.
After disembarking from the plane, I hailed a cab and headed directly for the Saunders's house. There wasn't any snowfall. The trees along the road in Hanlusia City all seemed to be wilting, causing the atmosphere to seem somewhat dreary.
Saunders family was one of the noble families in Hanlusia City. They have existed since olden times and had prospered for three generations at the moment. They were rich and had a large property on this extremely expensive land, which made them a particularly eye-catching household.
When the driver heard that I was heading for the Saunders family compound, he was slightly surprised and taken aback. He confirmed a few times, asking, "Young lady, what's your relationship with the Saunders family?"
I looked out of the window and pursed my lips before saying, "No relationship."
The driver paused for a moment and gave me a friendly reminder, "The Saunders family is considered society nobility in Hanlusia City, so they're particularly picky towards girls. It's not appropriate for you to just boldly appear there!"
Hearing these words, he had obviously thought of me as a clueless girl trying to get close to the rich.
I curled my lips, not making any explanation.
The cab stopped outside the Saunders family compound. The driver looked at me and said apologetically, "Miss, you can reach the Saunders family by entering this main gate. But you'll have to ask the people inside if you want to enter. The Saunders's compound is huge. If you'd like to go in, you need to ask someone to drive out to pick you up; ordinary people won't be able to enter."
I nodded, paid the fare, and thanked him.
Indeed, just as the driver had said, if anyone wanted to enter the Saunders family's courtyard, they would need to obtain permission from the owner. Only then would they be able to enter after someone was sent to pick them up.
The security guard stopped me. I informed him of the situation. He looked at me and said, "Miss, you'd better make a call for the Saunders family to send someone to pick you up!"
Taking out my phone, I saw another few missed calls and text messages from Hendrix.
I didn't answer them. Instead, I directly dialed Josiah's number again. Fortunately, he picked up the phone this time.
"Arianna!"
"I'm in Hanlusia City, at the gate of the Saunders family compound. Return Anne to me; I'm taking her home."
On the other end of the line, Josiah did not speak. But the more he remained silent, the more intense the fear in my heart became.
I had to admit, I was hoping to get lucky by coming here. Jarold City and Hanlusia City were so far apart, perhaps lan didn't know what had happened exactly.
Perhaps Anne had only run out to play for a while, but lan had heard wrongly and misunderstood things.
Sensing Josiah's silence almost made me break apart. I couldn't stand his prolonged silence and finally yelled out loud, "Josiah Saunders, I said that I want to see Anne, I want to bring my daughter back to Jarold City. Did you hear me?"
He spoke in a low voice, "I'm right behind you."
Startled, I turned around to see his weary face. It was obvious that he had just arrived.
His phone was still held next to his ear. Seeing me turn around, he gradually put down his phone and looked at me, his eyes full of guilt and complex emotions.
I didn't see Anne at his side. Holding back the anxiousness inside me, I looked at him and asked, "Josiah, where's Anne?"
He opened his mouth hesitantly. Taking a deep breath, he walked toward me, his emotions calming down.
He said, "Let's go in first."
A black Bentley stopped at the gate. He looked at me with a calm expression and said, "Let's go in and talk." I pursed my lips and got in the car.
