My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 837
Valerie and Pedro left, and I stayed behind in the hospital to accompany Hendrix. Hendrix gave Evan a call, and their conversation revolved around the company's business.
I sat aside and waited in silence. It took him about half an hour to finish the call.
He frowned slightly after hanging up on the call.
He took the book from my hand, looked at me and said softly, "Evan has found a good ointment. Let's try using it after we get back. You should be all right soon."
I only realized that he was referring the scar on my face when I noticed his gaze falling on my face,
I shook my head slightly and smiled, "It's okay, I don't mind."
He lifted his hand and was exceptionally gentle.
Holding his hand, I said, "We can go to bed after the doctor comes over to change your dressing."
With a faint smile on his face, he pulled me into his arms and said, "I'm almost fully recovered. Don't worry."
How could I not be worried? Although I couldn't see the big scar on his back, it was still there.
Remembering what had happened that afternoon, I gave him a sidelong glance and asked, "Are you still worried about Josiah?"
Stunned for a moment, he shook his head slightly and replied, "No, I've already asked the warden to keep a lookout for him. There won't be any problem."
I nodded. Then, I looked at him and asked without myself knowing, "If you don't like it, I won't keep in touch with Pedro and Valerie."
He frowned and looked at me, feeling a little surprised, "Why are you suddenly saying such a thing?"
How should I explain myself?
After thinking for a while, I replied, "Although Natalie's death isn't directly related to the Moore Family, she did get involved in the accident because of them. I can understand the grudge you have against the Moore Family. We have so much time left in this world. We don't have to make things difficult for ourselves."
He couldn't help but laugh, "Arianna, if we have to bear the burden of the past, it will be difficult for us to walk on our paths in the future."
I was stunned and wanted to say something, but the doctor came in.
After checking his wound and other things, the doctor said, "The scar has scabbed. There aren't any big problems. Try not to scratch the scab with your hands if you feel itchy these few days. Otherwise, it will affect your recovery if you hurt the wound again."
I nodded, and the nurse gave me a list that consisted of all the ointments I would have to bring after being discharged from the hospital.
Jarold City was just a four-hour flight away from Hanlusia City.
A group of people were already waiting at the gates of the villa when we arrived. Nerissa was the first to come forward and pull Hendrix aside to ask about the details.
Pedro and Valerie looked at me. After hesitating for a long time, Valerie finally opened her mouth to speak, "Arianna, it's going to be New Year's Eve soon. You and Mr. Roberts will feel lonely if it's just you two. Why don't you join us? If you're afraid of travelling too far, we can also come over to your place. Is that okay?"
I was slightly stunned. After thinking for a moment, I said, "It's better if you can ask Hendrix for his opinion."
Valerie looked at Pedro, and she seemed to be asking for his permission. Pedro looked toward
me and said in a deep voice, "Let's celebrate New Year together this year. Freya and Zachary are also here. It's more joyous to celebrate New Year together as a family."
I pursed my lips slightly and didn't answer him. Instead, I looked up at Nerissa, who was asking Hendrix all sorts of questions at the moment.
Meanwhile, a black Land Rover slowly drove in from outside the villa. It was Austin's car.
He got out after parking the car and walked towards Hendrix. The two of them just took a glance at each other before Austin asked in a deep voice, "Are you okay?" Hendrix nodded and said, "I'm fine!"
He probably had already known about the things that had happened in Hanlusia City. After all, they had already known each other for a few years, so they knew each other well.
We all walked into the living room. For the past few days, Nerissa seemed to have been in the house for the past few days, taking care of everything. It was a nice place to settle down.
