My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 840
My answer was somewhat weak, and fortunately, I didn't save Irvin's contact in my phone. Hendrix should not have guessed that it was Irvin who had called.
Fortunately, he didn't continue to ask. He just held me in his arms and said softly, "Take a bath and go to bed early!"
I nodded, threw my phone aside, and went into the bathroom.
Hendrix was already lying on the bed when I came out of the bathroom. The injury on his back had almost recovered. After wiping my hair dry, I climbed onto the bed and took the book from his hand. Leaning in, I said, "Don't read in bed. The bed is a place to sleep."
He looked sideways at me. I could feel his cold gaze falling on my face. Looking at him at such a close distance, his gaze was meaningful, his nose bridge was tall, his lips were thin, and Adam's apple was...
I couldn't help swallowing my saliva and felt a little dry in my throat as I continued to look downwards. I shifted my gaze away and said with a cough, "Go to bed early!"
Snuggling into the quilt, I heard him turning off the light. I could feel my body burning as I laid in bed.
He suddenly wrapped his arms around my body. Leaning in close to him, I could smell the fragrance emanating from his body. It seemed that he had stopped smoking recently, and he smelled nice. "Hen..." As my slightly stiff body was in his embrace, I asked, "Hendrix, are you trying to quit smoking?"
He leaned in closer to me and reached out his hand to lift my chin slightly. Through the faint light seeping in from outside the window, I could see his handsome facial features and his dark eyes. "How long has it been since we have last done it?" He asked in a magnetic and alluring voice.
Perplexed, I stared at him blankly and answered him with a "Huh?"
It was only after that that I realized what he was talking about. I couldn't help but blush, looked at him and whispered, "Can you do it?"
The next day.
Jarold City was covered in a white blanket of snow. The wind blew from the north, and it was freezing cold. When I woke up, I was still in Hendrix's arms.
I opened my eyes to his soundly asleep face. His eyebrows were sharp like swords, and his eyes were like dazzling stars. I really liked reading superhero novels when I was young. I always felt that he had the eyebrows of those superheroes in the novels.
He woke up, and our eyes met. I was a little caught off guard before saying with a smile, "You're awake!"
He hummed in assent with a deep and magnetic voice. Wrapping his arms around me, he said, "It's snowing. Let's sleep for a little longer."
I nodded, but I couldn't fall asleep. Looking at the ceiling, I thought that if I could see him every day the first thing I woke up in the morning, it would be something worth looking forward to.
I couldn't continue to lay on the bed once I had woken up. Getting out of the bed, I could hear a child's laughter coming from downstairs.
It was Anne. I walked towards the balcony and saw that she and Nerissa were having a snowball fight. The old and young duo seemed not to have much difference in their speed and movements. The two of them were wrapped in thick down jackets, throwing snowballs at each
other.
They would laugh so hard when they occasionally hit the other party, but such times were rare. Most of the time, the other party would either be able to dodge the attacks, or the snowballs would have already fallen to the ground before they could hit the other party.
Hendrix got up and hugged me from behind. After watching the scene for a moment, he whispered in my ear, "Do you want to play?"
I nodded and turned around to nudge him, "Wash your face. Let's go down and play together."
He smiled lightly and went into the bathroom. I headed towards the dressing room to pick out my clothes. However, I couldn't help but lift the quilt when I passed by the bed.
As expected, I had bled again. It was not menstruation, but blood instead.
How many times had that already happened? I felt a sense of fear surging in my heart.
My thoughts were interrupted by the laughter downstairs. I covered the bed with the quilt and went into the dressing room to pick up the clothes to wear.
Hendrix had already washed up when I came out from the dressing room. He looked at me with a faint smile and said, "You need to wear more layers!"
