My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 881
Quite a number of people had gotten changed. Those who were showering had also gotten dressed in a flash. Even so, there were still some who did not put on their clothes quick enough before the police came barging in.
Fortunately, the police who came in were all women. There were about a dozen of them. When they entered, they shouted at everyone in the locker room to stand aside.
Then, with the help of the hotel staff, they opened the lockers one by one. Since all the guests were present, it was not considered a breach of privacy.
The sudden arrival of the police caused many to begin uttering words of complaint, especially when the police began to rummage through the lockers without even informing everyone of what had happened.
Someone said, "What's wrong with you all? Even if you interrogate suspects, you should at least tell them beforehand. Why did you rush in and start rummaging through other people's items without asking for their permission? Don't you feel that it's very impolite?"
The policewoman leading the team shot the woman who spoke with a stem look and said, Tm sorry, everyone. We're just doing our job. Our work requires us to carry out confidential searches. We ask for your understanding and forgiveness if we've offended you in any way."
The woman was rebuked and too embarrassed to say another word. She snorted, put her arms around her chest and said, "To wave a chicken feather as a token of authority." Fortunately, the policewoman seemed to have been used to dealing with such a person. She shot a light glance at her and then shifted her attention to the search.
Half an hour later, the other police came and reported to her that their search was inconclusive.
Many people heaved a sigh of relief. After all, the police did charge in all of a sudden without explaining what they were searching for.
Many who were scared witless, their nerves all tensed up finally felt relieved when they overheard the reports being made.
There were still some members of the team who hadn't returned with a report. The leader stood on the spot and waited for them.
Fifteen minutes later, they all came in with a report one after another, and it looked like all reports were almost completed.
A policewoman suddenly said, "Madam Lewis, come take a look."
Madam Lewis was the leader of the squad. Upon hearing that, she walked over to the source of the voice. For a second, everyone in the bathroom tensed up once again. Looking in the direction of the search, I couldn't help but frown. The opened locker was mine.
The policewoman rummaged around and took out the bag I had brought.
She turned to the crowd and asked, "Whose bag is this?"
As soon as she said that, the atmosphere in the bathroom thickened. Murmurs amidst the crowd were heard. Someone whispered, "What are they investigating?"
No one answered. Seeing that no one responded, the policewoman spoke again, "Let me repeat myself. Whose bag is this?"
"It's mine!" I said, stepping out of the crowd. I looked at the police, doubtful about what they found in my bag.
For a moment, everyone looked at me with a hint of confusion and disgust in their gazes. They must have been blaming me for raining on their parade. After all, they were here to enjoy themselves, but because of me, their fun was cut short.
"Miss, come with me!" The police handed my bag to an officer standing beside her and instructed me to follow her.
I looked at her and paused, "I'd like to know what crime have I committed?"
She frowned, not answering my question directly. Instead, she said, "I'm sorry, we're still in the middle of our investigation. We need you to come with us."
