My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 882
It was inappropriate to talk about this in front of everyone else, so this matter was probably quite serious. I nodded and followed them as told.
I got dressed and left the bathroom with the policewomen.
There were quite a few people standing in the hall. They were dressed in suits and ties, looking anxious and scared. It looked like they were the hotel staff.
I thought about how the hotel was doing well for itself, with a steady flow of customers on a daily basis, and that if the news about the police barging in for an investigation spread, their business would inevitably be affected.
After handing me over, the policewomen took me to a police car. What an honor it was to be in a police car for the first time in my thirty years of life.
At the Police Station!
I was brought to an interrogation room, and was left with a police officer who I had to sit across from.
It looked like the interrogation was about to start.
A moment later, the policewoman in front of me turned on her laptop and looked at me, "Arianna Reid, right?"
They had taken my ID card a while ago.
I nodded, "Yes!"
She nodded. "Miss Reid, we found 59 grams of drug powder and a complete set of a syringe in your bag. We ask for your full cooperation. Your answers to my questions need to be true and reliable."
I couldn't help but frown. Drugs? Why was there a syringe in my bag?
I looked at the policewoman and nodded. I didn't know what was going on.
Seeing that I was being cooperative, the policewoman continued, "Based on our preliminary deductions, you're a drug user, but we can't be completely sure about this. So, we need to get you tested. In addition to that, you need to stay here for a full twenty-four hours for us to determine the verdict of the case."
I frowned. Did she really say that I did drugs?
I said calmly, "Officer, I can assure you that I've never touched any drugs. I don't know why it was in my bag. I have to go to work tomorrow. Can I please be allowed to leave first?"
The policewoman shook her head, looked at me, and said, "We're still awaiting for the results to know what the exact situation is. We'll use your words as reference."
Then, I was led into a holding cell and was locked up.
There was only one bed in the room and nothing else. It was practically an empty, lonely space.
All my possessions were taken away, so I had nothing to do but wait. I couldn't even call anyone for help.
It was not until the next day that the police opened the door. They looked at me and said, "Miss Reid, please come with us."
I was brought into the interrogation room again. In it sat the policewoman from the previous day. She looked at me with a frown etched on her face.
She said, "Miss Reid, your drug test results came back positive."
"That's impossible!" I retorted almost instantaneously. "I never touched it. I don't even know how to use it. How could I be a drug user?"
I pulled up my sleeve and stared at her, "Look! I don't have a needle hole in my body. How could I have done it?"
Seeing that I had suddenly gotten violent, she looked at me, raised her hand, and motioned me to sit down. "Miss Reid, please calm down. We examined your blood. You need to stay here with us for another twenty-four hours. We will continue to observe your situation."
"I need a lawyer!" I screamed. There was no way I had touched drugs before, but with the test results unexpectedly coming back positive, I needed help to get out of this.
