Next One Is a Babe
Chapter 1613

Cindy didn't want to talk to him anymore, or he might snap at her again.

But even if she was keeping quiet, lan wouldn't let her stay that way for too long. "Why aren't you saying anything? You don't want to talk to me?"

Goddammit. Is everyone so hard to please when they're drunk? "No. I just don't know what I should say to you."

lan lay back down on the bed and snorted. "I have nothing to say to you as well."

"Why did you call me, then?" She smiled. "I'll be hanging up now."

"No," lan answered quickly. "Don't do that. Just let the call go on."

Cindy lay back down on her bed as well. "Are you outside?"

"Yeah. I wanted to invite you, but you left."

Cindy knew he was drunk and might forget what he said when he woke up the next day, so she didn't pay any attention to that. "Why should I go back with you? You think I really don't mind about the whole situation?"

"I know you do." He sighed. "That's why I didn't ask. I didn't know what to say."

Cindy thought about what she should say for a moment. "What were you thinking back then? Why do you care so much about me and Gary? And why were you so nasty? I don't think you're that kind of guy."

lan had to think about it for a while before realizing what she was talking about. He was intoxicated, so his reflexes were slow. "I know something's up between you and him. Why is he so nice to you? He's never nice to anyone."

Cindy didn't want to argue with him, especially not when he was drunk. She asked calmly, "Do you know Gary well? How do you know he's never nice to anyone, then?"

lan paused, since he couldn't answer that. A moment of silence later, he started being unreasonable. "I just know. I just know!"

Cindy pursed her lips. She didn't know what to say to that. Reason and argument wouldn't work, which meant she was out of options against him. Well, I'll just have to endure it. Ian said nothing for a while, and Cindy thought he fell asleep, so she asked, "I'll hang up if you're asleep."

lan answered immediately, "Don't. I'm still awake."

It was Cindy's first time knowing that lan could be so stubborn when he was drunk. She felt excited when she saw him calling her earlier. But when she found out he was intoxicated, all the excitement was doused. She couldn't do much to him when he was drunk, and she couldn't take anything he said seriously. In other words, this call was as good as useless. Ian would probably be horrified when he saw this call history when he woke up the next day.

Cindy kept quiet, and lan said nothing, but the call kept going on.

Because of this call from lan, she was wide awake now, thus scrolled her phone to see what was happening on the internet. However, she avoided everything related to lan. It was annoying, and it'd affect her sleep. Instead, she took a look at what was happening to Yulia. Humans were forgetful beings, so even though Yulia was slammed by the court of public opinion earlier, the furore had died down now.

After that, she took a look at Sena's status. She released a new song, but the comments under the status were plain nasty. Lots of netizens were calling her a b*tch.

Humans had short term memory, but the internet didn't. What goes online stays online, after all.

She read the news for almost half an hour, but lan still didn't say anything. He drank a lot of wine, and since he was quiet, Cindy thought he was asleep. She exited the browser and went back to the call. "Are you asleep, lan?" she asked carefully.
