No More Waiting, She Chooses Love -
Chapter 731
It appeared to be yet another mystery, and the less I knew, the better off I'd be.
Ernest gently kissed my forehead, saying, "Don't worry. I won't let anything happen to me because... my little monster needs me."
Little monster?!
What an adorable nickname. I immediately changed my social media handle to that.
Jefferson was the first to notice and sent me a message right away: "Who are we targeting?"
Monsters aren't about targeting anyone; they're about standing their ground.
I hadn't heard from him in a while, especially since he returned from Houston. The last I heard, he had sold his pool hall, but his current activities were a mystery to me.
I knew how tough things were in Houston, so his decision didn't surprise me.
"Fight the demons!" I replied to Jefferson with those three words.
He sent another message: "How've you been lately?"
If he'd been following the online updates, he would have known. His question indicated he hadn't been.
Me: "Not bad!"
Jefferson: "Felicia, I'm sorry. I've owed you those words."
Reading his message, I paused in thought, then he sent another: "For causing you to lose Ernest."
He believed it was all his fault, unaware that he was merely a pawn in someone else's scheme.
Me: "You did nothing wrong. It was fate, and perhaps it's for the best."
I had no idea what Jefferson was doing these days, but I sensed he had distanced himself from the chaos. Otherwise, he'd be up to date on my situation.
So, I decided not to burden him further. As for Ernest being alive, that was something I couldn't disclose.
All I conveyed was that I was emotionally stable and doing fine.
Jefferson didn't reply after that, and I left it at that.
After chatting with Jefferson, I went shopping and then headed to the daycare to see Susie. This time, she wasn't there playing games with the kids; another teacher was in@harge.

I asked the teacher about Susie and learned, "Susie resigned."
"Why did she resign?" I asked without thinking.
"She's gone back to college," the teacher's answer relieved me.
It seemed her resignation wasn't about avoiding Mack; otherwise, she wouldn't choose to continue her education, especially since Mack was also there.
I found where Susie was staying, and when she opened the door, she wasn't surprised to see me, but her demeanor was noticeably colder than before.
I knew she was upset with me for knowing Mack's intentions and not telling her.
"Are you mad at me?" I asked directly.
"Yes," she replied candidly.
"Would you like to hear my explanation?" I inquired.
Susie sat down, "Okay, explain."
I recounted Judie's story, Mack's involvement with Judie, and eventually, Mack confessing to me the reason he got close to her.
"Susie, I considered telling you,
allowing you to decide whether you
still wanted to like Mack or not. But given your health, I was worried it mightypset you," I said, not to
excuse myself but to state the facts.
"I'm not that fragile, and..." Susie placed a hand over her heart, "if this heart were too fragile, it wouldn't deserve to be in my body."
Her resilience was inspiring, and I
was relieved. "Susie, you're right to think that way. In fact, this heart is yours and yours alone, with no ties to anyone else."
"Right, no ties to anyone else, because there's no one you can trust," Susie's tone shifted sharply.
I looked at her, and she looked back at me, "Sister-in-law, I trusted you so much, and I can't believe you also lied to me."
