Lord Maddison's POV

"What do you think you're doing?" my wolf asked, but I groaned and left the bathroom.

I returned to my room and paced around, filled with anger, pain, and frustration.

I was angry and saddened by Nora's behavior. This was our first time having sex together, but she seemed unaffected. I knew she was mourning Leo, but what about me? I'm here with her, and she doesn't even seem to notice.

"Damn it!" I groaned and continued pacing until I noticed she came out of the bathroom, a towel wrapped around her chest. I held her gaze and saw that her eyes were red, which broke my heart.

"Mine," my wolf howled in my head, filling me with guilt.

"Where are my clothes?" she asked while searching around.

"They are in the closet," I said and watched her open the closet, take out her clothes, and then close it.

When I realized she was about to change, I looked away and turned my back to her, so she wouldn't feel uncomfortable.

I was filled with guilt and knew I shouldn't have reacted the way I did. She had just lost a mate, and I should understand how it feels.

"I'm glad you're back to your senses," my wolf murmured, but I ignored him and turned to see Nora drying her hair with a towel.

Taking a deep breath, I walked over to her and tried to touch her, but she shut her eyes momentarily and quickly opened them, staring at me with dumbfounded eyes.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Alpha Leo has been found," she said, and I furrowed my brow. "His dead body has been found?" I asked, but she shook her head, tears streaming down her cheeks. Many paragraphs are missing. "Thank you, thank you, Moon Goddess," she whispered words of appreciation to the goddess while I remained stunned.

"He is alive? How?" I asked, confused and surprised, but Nora didn't respond. Instead, she continued crying, but this time it wasn't tears of sorrow, but tears of joy.

Knowing I wouldn't get an answer from Nora, I decided to make a mind link to my aunt and instantly received a response. "Maddison, I was just about to reach out to you," she spoke in a relieved tone.

"What am I hearing, Aunt?" I asked and quickly got a response. "Leo is still alive. He has been brought back home. He is here at the mansion," she said, making my heart ceased in my chest. "How..." I stammered, shocked. "How was he found? How did it happen?" I asked, confused.

I knew I was happy with the news, but I also felt uneasy, knowing that he is alive, which meant I still had a competitor.

"After he unleashed his power, miraculously, his abilities transported him to another pack in a thick forest. Some werewolves went hunting and found him unconscious in the woods. They quickly recognized him and informed us," she explained, leaving me short of words as I stared at Nora, who was still murmuring words of thanks to the goddess.

"Maddison, you have to come quickly. He is still unconscious, which isn't a good sign," Aunt pleaded.

"I'm on my way, Aunt," I responded and ended the mind link.

Nora opened her eyes and quickly stood up. "We need to go now. He is still unconscious, and that's not a good sign," she spoke in a hurry.

I didn't say a word, but instead made a mind link to the pilot, instructing them to have the jet ready to fly back to California.

I watched Nora deep in thought as she sat on the couch. "Is the jet ready? We can use the road," she suggested in a hurry, but I ignored her words and drifted into deep thoughts.

Don't get me wrong, I was happy that Leo had been found and was still alive. However, I couldn't help but feel anxious upon realizing he was back.

"She is yours now. You don't have to feel scared," my wolf spoke, but that didn't help ease my concerns.

Having marked her doesn't mean the bond she shares with Leo is completely broken. The only way it can be broken is if she rejects him through the rejection process.

"Lord, the jet is ready," the pilot announced, causing a soft sigh to escape my lips as I stood up. "The jet is ready," I informed Nora, and she quickly got to her feet, gathering her belongings and waiting for me to lead the way. But before we left, I needed to express what was in my heart.

"Nora, I'm glad that Leo has been found alive. It's a relief for everyone. But, I need to talk to you before we leave. Please have a seat," I gestured to the couch, and she hesitantly took a seat, her eyes filled with a mix of emotions.

I sat down opposite her, took a deep breath, and tried to gather my thoughts. "I want to apologize for my earlier reaction. I shouldn't have let my anger and frustration get the better of me. I understand that you were going through a difficult time... I should have been more understanding and patient."

She nodded her head, and I continued, "But Nora, now that you have my mark, and we've mated, it means you legally belong to me." I noticed her expression hardened, and her eyes narrowed. "What is all this about? What are you trying to say?" she asked. "Nora, what I mean is that my mark is now imprinted on your neck, which means you are no longer Leo's, but mine. So, I was thinking that when he wakes up, you should probably sever the bond completely through the rejection process," I hurriedly clarified. Nora stood up, anger and disbelief in her eyes as she held my gaze. "How could you, Lord Maddison? How could you say all this to me when your cousin is fighting for his life? And all that you're concerned about is having me to yourself?" she spoke, her tone laced with anger. "All you care about in this crucial moment is these selfish thoughts, while Leo's life is in danger?" she asked, and I became furious. "Leo, Leo, why does everything have to be about him?" I asked, also rising to my feet.

Nora's eyes widened in disbelief and anger as she stared at me. "Why does everything have to be about Leo? Because he's my mate! Just because you've marked me doesn't mean my bond with him will magically disappear," she retorted, her voice trembling with emotion. I clenched my fists, feeling jealousy and possessiveness surging within me. "You're my mate now, Nora. I care about you, and I want you to be with me," I said, my voice tinged with desperation. "With this attitude of yours, I doubt you can have me," she yelled and walked out on me.
