Nora's

POV

A nervous gulp passed my throat as I held his gaze, which was filled with a mixture of emotions. He stared at the mark one more time while I nervously licked my lips.

I noticed he shifted his gaze away from me and glanced at Lord Maddison for a moment before closing his eyes.

"Nora, move away," Lord Maddison spoke, but I didn't. "He might lose control. Everyone should leave the room," Lord Maddison instructed, but I still didn't move an inch. Something tells me he would never hurt me. "Nora!" Lord Maddison yelled my name and gripped me by the wrist, trying to pull me away, but I refused.

"Stop it, Lord Maddison," I spoke in an annoyed tone, and just then Alpha Leo opened his eyes, and they had the normal shades of green.

He didn't say a word but rather stood to his feet and went to the mini fridge in his room. We watched him take out a bottle of water and gulp it all down before turning to his mother, Lady Christabel.

"I'm fine, mother. Can you all excuse Nora and me?" he requested, but Lord Maddison countered him. "That won't be possible," Lord Maddison responded. "I can't leave my mate with you, especially when you are in such a condition. "I won't hurt her; you of all people should know that," Alpha Leo responded back.

"I don't believe that, Leo. Your abilities are going out of control, and I can't leave my mate with you," Lord Maddison declared.

"She is still my mate, Maddison. The bond hasn't been fully broken," Alpha Leo responded back.

Lord Maddison, fueled by anger, approached Alpha Leo, his eyes burning with intensity, while Alpha Leo looked calm.

"She is now mine legally. We've mated, I had sex with her, and gave her my mark. It's my mark that is on her neck, not yours," Lord Maddison spat, while I noticed Alpha Leo closed his eyes and clenched both fists. Fear gripped me, and I quickly stood between them. "Please stop," I pleaded to both of them. "Stay out of this, Nora," Lord Maddison instructed, but I refused.

I looked at Alpha Leo and noticed his eyes were open, and they were their normal shade of green. "You all can leave," he spoke and walked out on us. I watched him enter the bathroom and slam the door, causing me to flinch. Intense tension filled the room as everyone was occupied with their thoughts, including me.

I was worried and curious about what Alpha Leo would be thinking in his heart. Probably he would think I obviously wanted Lord Maddison's mark and saw his supposed death as an excuse to have it.

"Do you think he will be okay?" Lady Christabel asked, and Beta Jayson responded, "He will be fine, but I think he needs some space, so I'll advise we all leave." He said, and Lady Christabel nodded. "Let's leave," Lord Maddison said, but I shook my head in disapproval.

Taking a deep breath, I turned to Lord Maddison and gently placed my hand on his arm. "Please, let me talk to him," I pleaded, my voice trembling slightly. "I need to understand what's happening, and I believe I can reach him." "No!" Lord Maddison refused.

"Why do you have to see and talk to him?" he asked, causing a frown to appear on my face. "You are mine, Nora. You are my mate; you have my mark," he said, causing my anger to flare.

"I get it, Lord Maddison! I get it. I'm your mate, we've had sex, and I bear your mark. I know all that, and you don't have to yell it out to me or anyone!" I spat. "Alpha Leo is still my mate, and he needs my help now," I said, and Lord Maddison grunted with anger. "You want to be left alone with him, so he will mate with you and give you his mark. You also want his mark," he yelled in anger. "Is my mark not good enough for you? So, you want him so badly?" he asked, while I remained silent, his words were hurtful. "I believe you are enjoying the show, huh? That two men are fighting over you, huh? You are enjoying all this, huh? You just don't want it to end?" he asked, causing tears to well up in my eyes.

How could he think that I derive joy from all this?

"Don't you dare ever speak to her in such a manner again," I heard Leo's voice behind me and turned to see that he had walked out of the bathroom.

"Everyone should leave, or I might not be able to control what I would be able to do," he warned, and by the look in his eyes, I knew this wasn't mere words.

"We should all leave, please," Lady Christabel pleaded, but I didn't move an inch. Instead, I watched them leave while Lord Maddison glared at me before closing the door.

Taking a deep breath, I turned to Alpha Leo, who had a mix of emotions in his eyes, but the one that vividly stood out was pain.

"Alpha Leo," I whispered softly, my voice filled with concern. "Are you okay? What happened in there?" I asked, my eyes searching his face for answers.

He let out a heavy sigh, his gaze dropping to the floor. "It's complicated, Nora," he replied, his voice laced with a mixture of frustration and sadness. "I... I lost control for a moment. My wolf... he's been struggling since our bond was tampered with. And seeing you with Maddison, it triggered something in me."

I felt a pang of guilt in my chest. I never wanted to cause him pain, and yet here we were, entangled in a web of complicated emotions. "I'm so sorry, Alpha Leo," I murmured, tears welling up in my eyes. "I never meant for any of this to happen. I never wanted to hurt you."

He looked up at me, his eyes filled with understanding. "I know you didn't, Nora," he said, his voice gentle. "You must have gone through a lot when you thought I was dead, and Lord Maddison and you have to do what needs to be done so you don't lose your wolf."

As I listened to Alpha Leo's words, a mix of relief and sadness washed over me. Relief that he understood that I didn't intentionally cause him pain or tamper with our bond, and sadness because I could see the agony he was going through. Taking a deep breath, I tried to take a step closer to him, but he took a step backward, which confused me. "Let's reject each other, Nora, and let's do it here."
