One More Chance
Chapter 112: Your wife is here

~~I lose my way and it's not too long before you point it out. I cannot cry because that's weakness in your eyes. I'm forced to fake a smile, a laugh every day of my life. My heart can't possibly break when it wasn't even whole to start with. Because of you I never stray too far from the sidewalk. Because of you, I find it hard to trust not only me but everyone around me. Because of you, I am afraid~~~

-Kelly Clarkson-

I sighed inwardly and closed my eyes after hearing what the gay employee screamed like he was imagining Luke's naked body in front of him. I just hope this guy knows him well.

I waited a few minutes until the lift reached the executive floor in which to my not-so-surprise, the three got off in a hurry that they didn't notice me standing in front of them. But I chose to ignore them and tried to calm myself again. They are not worthy of my effort. I looked around the spacious floor with a sea of blue-collar employees. It's my second time here and hopefully, this would be the last too. I was about to ask someone where to find the CEO's office when Patrick, if I am not mistaken, his assistant recognized me. "Miss Samantha?"

"Uhm---"

"I'm Patrick, Luke's assistant. We met at your daughter's party, remember? You know, the one in front of the restroom---"

"Yup, I remember you." I smiled at him.

"Oh, thanks. Anyway---"

"I'm here to meet your boss. Can you please inform him that I need to talk to him?" And that's when a smile faded from his lips.

The employees on the same floor who were listening to our conversation started to form different expression on their faces. "Huh? B-But he's currently in a meeting---"

"What time is he going to finish?"

"Uhm..." He checked the time on his wristwatch. "They were just starting by this time and since it's a presentation of the company's new project to the client, I'm sure they'll be finished in approximately two hours." "Fine!"

"Huh?" He stared at me in shock.

"I'll wait for him in his office."

"But I'm not sure if they will only take two hours---"

"Then tell him his 'wife' is waiting for him in his office!" I emphasized the word wife that made everyone gasped in surprise, including Patrick.

"Y-Yeah..." I raised an eyebrow as he stuttered. "I-I gotta go and tell him that his wife is waiting... yeah..." He said nodding before hurrying to the elevator.

But I cursed under my breath when the elevator door finally closed. It's been a long time since I've visited this company and I've already forgotten where the CEO's office is... the same thing I forgot to ask Patrick before letting him go.

I couldn't help but sigh loudly out of frustration. I completely forgot that I was in the middle of blue-collar employees who were now having mixed expression... shock, confused and at the same time, terrified.

"Good morning, Ma'am, I'm Railey, would you like me to assist you to the CEO's office?"

I was brought back to myself when I heard that familiar voice and when I looked at the woman who introduced herself, I was surprised--- which added to the surprises I received and felt for the day--- as she was one of the female employees I met in the elevator earlier. "Uhm... I-I want to apologize for what happened earlier in the elevator, especially what we talked about---"

"It's okay, I don't mind it."

"We know he has a daughter, but we've never seen you---"

"Yeah, you've never seen me here because it's a secret marriage and I know that the CEO's personal life remains a secret until now, so I'm not surprised if all his employees can't avoid talking about him. They're just curious."

She nodded, giving me an apologetic smile.

After that little conversation, I asked her to show me where her boss' office is and she immediately obliged.

PATRICK'S POV:

I immediately ran to the elevator and to the meeting room as soon as I left my boss' wife. I don't know but it's funny to think that my boss's wife was scarier than my boss himself.

I bit my lip, held my breath when everyone in the meeting room, well, of course, including my boss, looked at me in surprise and confusion. I shouldn't have been here as he assigned me with another project, but what would I suppose to do? I would rather be fired right away from my job than be out of breath later and get killed by the wife-Zilla if I don't tell my boss she's waiting for him.

I slowly walked towards Luke's direction wearing a smile of slight--- take note, slight only--- slight nervousness in my body.

"What are you doing here? Didn't I tell you to take care of the ---"

"Your wife is here." I cut him off in purpose before he could burst out and thank God I did, as what I said shocked him and his mouth dropped open in mid-air.

"What are you talking about my wife is here?" He asked me with a deep frown. I understand what he feels at the moment as I've also experienced that earlier.

"Yes, your wife is here," I

emphasized the word wife. "But I

told her you're in the middle of a very

important meeting, but then she decided to wait for you in your office. So yeah, I'm sure she's there

right now and she's waiting-ouch!"

But now it was I who got interrupted when he hardly patted me on the shoulder as he spoke.

"Why the hell didn't you tell me right away?"

"Huh? But that's what I've been doing since I walked into the meeting room---"

But my boss ignored me as he called everyone's attention. He told them that I will be the one to present them with the new project as his wife is now in his office and they have something important to talk about. "But Sir, how about the project you assigned me---"

"Just do it later after this presentation."

"W-What? Wait!"

And that's it. He excused himself and disappeared from our sight in an instant.

"Whoa! That's really a surprise for us!"

"Yeah, I didn't know he's already married."

I turned my attention to the team and to our client who suddenly became a swarm of bees, buzzing about what had just happened.

"Yes, the CEO is already married and

if I'm not mistaken, he got married 9 years ago," said, giving each one of them a stretched smile. "But

anyway, since we're all here for nex

business, I think his personal life has nothing to do with us, do you agree?"

And before they could open their mouths...

"Because I agree!" I stated loudly. "So, let's get back to business."

I smiled again, facing at the whiteboard behind me.

SAM's POV:

Since I couldn't rest while waiting for Luke to show up in front of me, I decided to look around his office. Cali's photo was the first to appear before my eyes at the top of his table, next to our wedding photo.

"Tss!" I couldn't help but hiss as I took the frame it flipped it down the table. "Useless! Nonsense!" I uttered bitterly as I formed my fists into a hardball.

After everything that's happened and what Gerry told me earlier, I don't know which of the things he will say should I believe or should I still believe him?

I was still in my deep thought when the door suddenly opened. I was about to look around, but when that familiar perfume hit my nostrils, I stopped. I already knew who that person was.

"Sam?"

I gulped the moment he mentioned my name. I took a deep breath before slowly turning around to face him. He has an awkward yet surprised smile when I looked at him.

"Sam, I-I am---"

"Surprised, Mr Williams?" I snorted. "I thought you were in the middle of a very important meeting?"

"Uhm... y-yeah, but---"

"Then what made you decide to come here and left your important meeting?"

"Because Patrick told me you're here and that you're waiting for me in my office."

"Yeah, but don't get it wrong. I'm not here waiting for you for

reconciliation or to have some

romantic drama because that i

such a cliché." I started walking towards him. "I'm here to give you this" And with all the strength in my body, I slapped him.

"Samantha?" Shock was woven in his voice and his questioning eyes met mine.

"How dare you?" The first question I asked after slapping him. "How dare you lie to me all these years, huh?"

"W-What do you mean I lied to you? I already told you I didn't file the divorce papers, didn't I?"

"That's not what I'm talking about!" I whispered-yelled, glaring at him.

"Wait, I-I have no idea what you're talking about---"

"Liar!" I screamed.

"Sam, calm down, please? I'm willing to talk about it, but first, let's sit down please."

"No!" I hardly said as I continued to glare at him.
