Owned By Her Triplet Bullies -
(Bk 2) Chapter 30
Rachel's POV
I pulled my jacket closer to my trembling body as I kept glancing at the entrance, hoping he would make an appearance soon. I tried calling him, but he never responded. I glanced at my watch and it's been almost four hours since I've been sitting and waiting for him. I had even rented out the entire place, so we would have some privacy. I wonder what he was up to, that he still hasn't shown up. The weather was extremely cold, even for a werewolf.
"Do you think he's going to show up?" Leina, my wolf, asked.
"He will definitely come. He won't leave me out here in the cold for too long," I replied.
"How do you know that? He definitely told you he wouldn't be coming. How would he even know you are still waiting for her when he's not picking up your calls?" she inquired in a frustrated tone.
"I know Mason very well, and he won't leave me here alone. He might have said he won't be coming, but he will. He knows me as much as I know him and he knows how stubborn I can be," I answered. "Just listen to me and let's leave. If you continue this way, we are going to freeze," she advised worriedly.
"I'm not moving an inch unless Mason makes me," I responded firmly, my eyes at the entrance. I closed my eyes and was dozing off when I suddenly heard a car. It was a small park, so I could hear every little sound. "It's Mason," I said excitedly, the sound of the car waking me up already.
"How do you even know that? It could be anyone," Leina growled.
"I just know it," I responded, hopefully staring at the door. He hurriedly walked towards me, pulling off his jacket along the way.
"I was right," I muttered happily. His face looked blank, devoid of any emotion as usual, but I could tell he was concerned about me. If he wasn't, why would he come out in this cold and pull off his jacket?
"Have you gone crazy?" was the first thing he said immediately when he got to me. He quickly placed the jacket on me.
"Yes, crazy about you," I replied with a small smile.
"Let's go. I will drive you home," he said as he grabbed my hand and turned around. I held him back.
"You came. We can't just leave like that," I replied.
"Look around you. What do you want to do in this weather? If I hadn't come, were you planning on freezing to death?" he asked in disbelief.
"But you came. I knew you would. You care about me so much and you would never leave me out here all by myself. Let's...," I paused, trying to get up on my feet, but my legs wobbled and I almost fell. Mason held on to me. "Are your legs okay?" he asked. I nodded with a smile.
"Let's go over there. I haven't eaten all day, but I have something set up," I said, pointing towards a tent I had asked someone to set up.
"Have you seen how pale your face is? How cold your hand is or how blue your lips are? You still want to go to some tent?" he inquired.
I nodded. "Yes, I want to go."
He sighed and walked ahead of me in the direction I pointed at. I tried to go after him, but my legs felt so numb that I almost fell. He looked back at me and came to help me out, but I kept wobbling.
"This won't do. You can't even walk," he muttered as he carried me up in his arms. I stared at him in surprise.
"Thank you," I mumbled with a smile.
"Where are we headed again?" he asked.
"Over there," I replied, pointing towards the place. He walked in the direction my finger pointed at. I leaned into his chest happily. Even though it was cold, his body was so warm. I suddenly felt myself being lowered into a cushion, and unfortunately, I couldn't feel the heat of his body anymore.
"Eat quickly so we can go. I need to be home soon," he said impatiently. I glanced around the huge tent. Wasn't he going to commend my effort? I had set this up just for the both of us to enjoy. There were fairy lights, food, and music. I had even placed cushions all over the place in case something happened between us, but it seemed like I had gotten too ahead of myself.
"Don't you like the decorations?" I asked. He didn't respond.
"At least have some food," I said, getting up to serve the both of us.
"I already ate. Why would you go through the trouble of setting up something like this?" he asked.
"I told you, I want to open up my heart to you, and what better way to do that than like this? In the place we first met," I replied.
"You are wasting your time," he declared.
"That's for me to decide. And if I was indeed wasting my time, you wouldn't have remembered this place or come at all. I know deep down, you feel the same way about me, so why are you fighting it? To punish me for leaving?" I asked curiously. "I told you I felt nothing," he replied coldly.
"You say that, but your actions say something else. You came, you even carried me in here because I could not walk by myself. If that isn't you feeling something, then I don't know what is," I responded.
"I would do that for anybody, not just for you, so it's nothing special," he said. That stung a little but I'm Rachel, a Fernandez blood, we weren't known to give up easily. I won't back down over a few cold words. I've gone through way worse just to be here.
"But I feel like it's special. Do you remember where I sat just now? It was the place where I saw you sitting for the first time. Do you know what I thought back then before approaching you? I thought you looked so handsome and cool like an artwork just sitting there calmly without speaking to anyone. I wasn't even sure if you were real, but I toughened up and spoke to you, but you never uttered a word to me. It was so embarrassing and surprising," I recalled with a smile on my face.
"What use..." he started, but I cut him off.
"I would come to the park every day and simply watch you as you sat while ignoring all my friends. Watching you alone was satisfying for me. That was when I realized I had a crush on you that couldn't be helped. The first time I noticed you looking towards me was when I was practicing my dance for my next classes. I remember I was so elated then. From then onwards, I would come to the pack every single day and dance for you, even if my body and legs were sore from dancing all day. What I'm saying is, I didn't give up until you spoke to me then and I definitely won't give up now, no matter how coldly you treat me," I continued with a smile.
"Are you eating or not? We need to leave," he replied.
"It won't taste good if you are just going to sit and watch me. Let's go," I responded, standing up on my feet. Just seeing him for the day and conveying my feelings was more than enough for now.
"But if I may ask, what took you so long to get here?" I asked skeptically.
"I was tutoring someone, but I had to cut it short to come here. You can walk, right?" he asked.
"You tutored someone? Who was it?" I inquired curiously. Was it a girl or a boy?
"Someone you don't need to know of," he said calmly as he walked ahead of me. I hurriedly followed him. I had wanted us to go on as many rides as possible and revive old memories, but damn, this weather. It just had to ruin my plans. We both got into the car and he drove me home. The only conversation we had was when I was giving him directions.
"Would you like to come in?" I asked when we arrived. And maybe hopefully spend the night, but I didn't add that.
"No, I need to go home," he replied. I nodded and got out of the car.
"Goodnight," I said, but he drove off without responding. I went in, and had a change of clothes before laying on my bed while wondering who exactly Mason was tutoring and if it was a girl.
The following morning, I arrived at school and the news of Mason inviting a girl over to his house already made its way to me. Lexi Jones. That was her name, and it turned out to be the same girl I had seen on my first day in school. "Do you like Mason?" I asked her as I walked up to her. Immediately I saw her standing in front of her locker.
