Mason's POV

I was bemused and confused by the statement she just made. How could she start up a false rumor like that? And she had the audacity to smile at me. The students began to clap as they cheered repeatedly. "Silence," I muttered trying to control my anger.

"You both are such lovely couples."

"You look so good together."

"We've finally found a perfect match for Mason. It just had to be you, Rachel. No one else would be able to be as good as you..."

"Silence everyone!" I growled loudly. They gasped in shock as most of them moved back. This type of situation needed to be dealt with as fast as one could else it would cause more unnecessary drama. No one even confirmed with me and they all took Rachel's word for it. As for Rachel, she wasn't just stubborn anymore but she was clearly delusional. Everyone stared at us curiously. Rachel tried to hold my hand but I pushed her hand away roughly.

"There's nothing going on between me and Rachel. Nothing will ever happen between us, so get that thought from your minds," I said firmly.

"What are you saying? You don't have to keep our relationship a secret anymore. Everyone already knows," she said to me with a smile before looking towards them again. "He's just a shy guy, nothing serious."

I tried to respond but the principal suddenly appeared.

"That's enough for both of you. I didn't call this meeting so you could profess your love for one another or inform everyone else about it," she said.

"No one is professing any love. There's no love here," I replied.

"Is that so? That wasn't what it looked like," she said. I turned around to leave and I saw Lexi and Mady behind me.

"Where are you going? I haven't made the announcement yet," the principal said.

"There won't be any need for that. I'm sure everyone already knows what you want to say and if there's anyone who doesn't, we are all going to Bluemoon pack in the next two days for a vacation," I announced without taking my eyes off Lexi even though she wouldn't look at me.

"Mr. Martinez!" the principal called out in a loud tone. Did Lexi perhaps believe whatever Rachel said?

"What is going on? Are they dating or not?" someone whispered. I walked past Mady and headed outside.

"Mason, wait," Mady called out after me. I knew she was going to follow me.

"What do you want, Mady? I'm not in the mood to listen to your righteous teachings today," I replied.

"How can you say that to me? I only came to check up on you," she declared.

"As you can see, I'm fine," I responded.

"Stop right there!" she ordered in an authoritative tone. I sighed and halted in my steps. She walked towards me till she stopped right in front of me.

"What was that?" she inquired, folding her arms in front of her.

"What was what?" I asked.

"Don't play dumb with me. I just found out you and Rachel are all over the news. At first, I thought it was probably the reporters seeking money and attention from people but what was that about being in love with each other? Since when? I knew you were close to each other when we were children..."

"I will have to stop you right there. I'm glad you mentioned we were only kids then. There's no love between us and we are definitely not dating. You of all people should know that," I replied, cutting her off.

"I don't know anymore. After what I saw last night, I have no idea what to believe," she said.

"It was a mistake," I muttered.

"Mistake? You backed her up against the wall as you locked lips fiercely and you called it a mistake?" she inquired in disbelief.

"Okay fine. I kissed her, we both already knew that. No need to paint the picture so vividly. Rachel and I are adults. We made a mistake and it's a thing of the past now," I replied.

"It is for you but not for her. You knew she liked you yet you went ahead and kissed her when you know you can't reciprocate her feelings," she said, shaking her head at me. I couldn't tell her that I was only trying to sort out my feelings because that would mean she would find out about Lexi. It was a mistake that I now regret. I f****d up and I already apologized to her so what else do they want from me?.

"Anyways, what's done is done. What plans do you have now? You know our fathers do not like to hear about this type of news especially since she's not your mate or is she?" she inquired with furrowed brows.

"Of course not," I hurriedly replied.

She sighed. "First of all, I'm going to make an announcement on my social media page denying all dating rumors. That should help."

I nodded gratefully. I didn't need to ask her for anything before she knew what she was supposed to do.

"How do I always end up cleaning your mess? This wasn't what I signed up for as your twin," she muttered.

I smiled. "I'm sorry for the way I spoke to you earlier. I didn't mean to. I was just upset."

"I know. That was why I followed after you. Although you are not the only one who's upset. I'm sure the principal is also very upset. You ruined her chance to announce the news of the year everyone had been waiting for," she chuckled. I groaned. There was that too. "You need to talk to Rachel again. That stunt she just pulled wasn't funny at all. There should be a limit to everything including one's feelings. If you don't speak to her, I will," she declared. I totally agree with her. Rachel was like a stubborn mule who would never listen to anything once her mind was made up. But lying to the public about us dating was a line she never should have crossed.

"I will talk to her again," I replied.

"Who are we talking to? I was just going through my phone and the headlines are wild. There's even a reporter saying you and Rachel are secretly dating because she's not your mate and you don't want to ruin your image. My phone has been blowing up with messages," Torres said, scrolling through his phone.

"I will make that post I talked to you about. When I'm done, I will find you," she said as she took her leave.

"What post?" he asked.

"She's helping me deny the rumors of being with Rachel," I replied.

"Are they rumors though? These days, I feel like you never tell me anything. I never knew something was going on between you and Rachel," he remarked.

"That's because there's nothing going on," I replied irately. I was beginning to feel frustrated with answering all these questions. If I knew that kiss was going to cause so many problems, I never would have done it. If Mady and Torres were this curious, then how would Lexi be feeling now?

"But we saw you yesterday. Were you just playing around? I never knew you could be such a player, my friend," he replied with a chuckle.

"I'm not a player. It was an honest mistake and I've tendered so many apologies because of it. My mouth is beginning to hurt," I groaned. I suddenly remembered Torres was as popular and had as much influence as Mady or more.

"Those eyes. Are you about to tell me to do the same thing Mady is?" he asked skeptically. I nodded.

"I knew it," he muttered.

"Fine then. But I won't lie. This is kind of interesting. You are finally living an interesting life. Your life was so boring that I often worried about how you were going to narrate your teenage years and high school experiences to your children," he stated dramatically. I shook my head at him. Sometimes I wondered how he became a business tycoon.

"It's true. I've always worried about that. Thanks to Rachel, you will finally be able to lighten up. It shouldn't be a problem since you haven't found your mate yet," he said.

"How would you know that?" I asked.

"Know what? You haven't found your mate or have you? And you aren't telling us about it," he muttered skeptically.

"Have you heard about the trip?" I asked diverting his attention from the topic.

"Of course. I've been waiting for this vacation a long time," he replied.

"Funny coming from you," I said.

"Don't judge. I know I go on trips a lot but they were all on business. I never found the time to relax. This trip is going to be that chance. I can't wait," he responded. "Me too," I mumbled. I seriously needed a getaway from all this commotion and I hoped Lexi would be there as well. We needed to have a serious conversation.
