Owned By Her Triplet Bullies -
(Bk 2) Chapter 74
Lexi's POV "Truth or kiss? Isn't it supposed to be truth or dare?" Mady asked, coming out from the water and sitting beside Torres. He quickly wrapped a towel around her.
"It's my game, my rules. Besides, this one is much more fun, trust me," Rachel replied with a smile. Why do I feel like she has an ulterior motive behind this game? She has been looking at me in a weird manner for a while. Almost as if she knew something was going on between Mason and me. "So you mean to say if someone refuses to answer the question or lies, he has to kiss the person who asked?" Mason inquired.
"Exactly," Rachel replied with a smile. I glanced at him wondering if he wanted to play the game with her.
"That's too much, isn't it? What if it causes issues between some of us?" Torres asked. Mady nodded in agreement. She reached for her drink which was on a table beside the pool and her towel fell. Torres hurriedly placed the towel back on her and got the drink for her. Is it just me or is he being too overprotective?
"It's just a game. I'm sure everyone else agrees," she insisted.
"She's right. It's just for fun," Mia agreed. Of course, they were also here. They would never miss a chance to be near Mason. Always following him around like lost puppies. Was I being jealous? I thought in surprise.
"You all can have fun on your own then. I'm not playing such a ridiculous game," Mason said. I looked towards him and he smiled at me.
"You can't do that. We all came here because of you," Evelyn muttered sadly.
"She's right. If Mason isn't playing, we aren't playing either. It would be meaningless," Carla responded.
"Let's just play the game but instead of a kiss, anyone who refuses to answer a question will have to drink. We have lots of alcohol here. What does everyone think?" Mady asked.
"You want to get drunk so early in the morning?" Mason asked in surprise.
"It's never too early to drink. If you don't want to drink, all you have to do is answer the question. It's as simple as that," Mady replied with a wink.
"Now that everyone has agreed, let's sit," Rachel said. They all walked towards the chairs available and took a seat.
"Common, you two," Mady said happily, pulling Mason and me along. We didn't have a choice but to sit too. They had the alcohol and glasses set up in no time. Carla placed the bottle on the table and spun it. We all watched it keenly till it stopped spinning in front of Mason. "I'm not playing," he deadpanned.
"It stopped on you so you have no other choice. Do you prefer to drink?" Rachel asked. I glanced at Mason. I knew he didn't like drinking. Carla looked at him nervously.
"Fine," he mumbled.
"Will you go out with me?" she asked hopefully. I scoffed in disbelief. She wasted no time. "No," he replied curtly. She let out a defeated sigh. He spun the bottle till it stopped on Mia.
"Can you stop your little fan club?" he asked.
"No, never. Some of us live for that," she replied vehemently. She spinned the bottle next and it stopped on Torres.
"Would you date Mady or not?" she asked. I frowned, wondering what prompted that question. He grabbed a glass and gulped down the entire content. They all cheered. Wait a minute, did that mean he would? Mady and Torres sat awkwardly till he spun the bottle. It stopped on Rachel.
"Why did you come back? You've been away for a very long time. Are you here on some sort of secret business?" he asked curiously.
"Why do you ask? Are you scared I might take your spot in the business world from you?" she teased.
"You wouldn't be able to even if you tried," he replied confidently.
"You sound so sure. Don't come crying to me later. As for why I came back, I think I already made my intentions clear. I came back because of someone special and to continue from where we stopped. I don't plan on leaving anytime soon," she replied without taking her gaze from Mason. I felt like she was indirectly telling me to steer clear of him. She smiled and spun the bottle, to my horror, it stopped on me. I knew whatever she was about to ask wouldn't be good.
"Lexi, I'm really curious. What was your first love like?" she asked curiously. I knew it. She was bound to ask something that would upset me.
"I can drink for her right?" Mason asked, taking the filled glass in surprise. My head turned towards him so fast that my vision felt dizzy for a second.
"But you've never drank before. Are you sure you will be okay?" Mady asked the question that was on my mind. Mason drank the alcohol in one gulp and dropped the glass on the table. The girls all gave me a dirty glare.
"What's so special about her that he would go through that trouble?" Carla whispered.
"My exact thoughts. He drank alcohol for the very first time and it had to be for her," Evelyn replied in a whisper.
"It's my turn now, right? Rachel, how many boyfriends did you have when you were away? I'm sure you had many love interests," I asked. She stared at me with a frown. She started it, I don't care anymore if I'm being childish. She grabbed a glass and drank it. "Evelyn, you can spin the bottle and ask me a question. I'm giving you my turn," she said.
"You mentioned earlier that you liked someone. Is that special someone Mason?" she asked.
"Without a doubt. I'm sure you've all heard about Mason and me when we were kids. My feelings haven't changed. Even for a second," she responded. They all cheered again.
"You both will make the perfect couple!' someone said out loud. How dare they? That was my boyfriend they were talking about. My mate. I glanced towards him and my eyes widened. What was he doing?
"Mason, do you also feel the same way? Are you planning on continuing your relationship with your childhood crush?" Evelyn asked. I grabbed the glass and drank in his stead. He was in no position to talk or drink.
"What's wrong with him? Is he asleep?" Torres asked in surprise. His head was bowed and his ears were beet red.
"He's drunk. I asked him if he was sure about this but he never listens," Mady sighed.
"Don't worry. I will take him to the pharmacy shop down the road and get a drink that will make him sober immediately," I assured her.
"Why would an outsider go through that trouble? I will do it instead," Rachel replied standing up from her chair. I scoffed. Who was she referring to as an outsider?
"I said, I was going to do it. You should just let it be," I insisted.
"I will do it. You can sit and enjoy the game besides, you won't even know the drink to get him. Mason doesn't drink cheap drinks that might give him stomach problems. Did you even know that?" she asked, walking towards Mason who was sitting next to me. She tried to hold his hand but he pulled away, taking mine instead.
"I will go wherever Lexi goes," he said in a drunken voice. Even in his unconsciousness, he still chose me. It filled my heart with joy.
"Take care of him, Lexi," Mady pleaded. I nodded in response. I gave Rachel a victory smile.
"Is there something going on between them? He drank for her, something he never does and she drank for him. He even chose her even though he was drunk. Is there something we are missing..."
I tuned out of their conversation as Mason and I both walked out. "You call me a lightweight but look who's the lightweight now. Now I know why you don't drink," I muttered as we both walked out. He chuckled. I glanced at him. "Why are you laughing?" I asked.
"The fresh air, the bright moonlight, and being out here with you make me feel so happy. I can't remember the last time I was this happy," he replied in a much clearer voice.
"Wait a minute, were you pretending to be drunk?" I asked in disbelief.
"I'm genuinely happy to be here with you Lexi and I hope you are too. I like you way more than you can imagine," he continued. I paused in surprise. Why was he saying all this out of the blue? Making me feel shy.
"Watch out!" he said, pulling me from the side of the road towards himself. A car that sped past us splashed a puddle of water.
"You should be more careful when walking on the road. Are you okay? Did you get hurt?" he asked, glancing all over my body. All I wanted to do at that moment was lean towards him and kiss him till we both became breathless. But my eyes caught sight of someone that I thought was long forgotten and I would never see again. Someone from the past whose memory still haunted me. "Nick," I mumbled to myself in panic.
