Owned By Her Triplet Bullies -
(Bk 2) Chapter 99
Lexi's POV
I stared at the school notice board where our results were posted in utter bewilderment. I closed my eyes and opened them again just to be sure. A whopping 78% under my name stared back at me.
"I had 78%?" I mumbled to myself in disbelief. I suddenly heard the students whispering furiously. I turned around wondering what was going on and I was met with the smiling face of Mason, standing with a bouquet of red roses. "Congratulations babe," he said, making some girls gasp. They were glaring at me enviously but I didn't care anymore. I ran into his arms emotionally.
"Thank you. Thank you so much," I whispered gratefully.
"For the flowers?" he muttered.
"That and believing in me when I didn't believe in myself. For the tutoring sessions too," I replied.
"If you are that grateful, shouldn't you be thanking me with a kiss?" he teased. I pulled away from his arms, stood on my tip-toes, and placed my lips on his. His eyes widened in surprise. He must not have thought I would really do it. He held my waist and kissed me back. Lots of students clapped and cheered. When we finally pulled away from each other, I caught sight of the main four storming away in anger.
"My parents said they want you to come for dinner tonight. My grandparents would also be around. Is that alright with you? If it's not..."
"It's fine. I would love to have dinner with them," I responded, cutting him off with a smile. I believed it was time I met his parents. He has already met mine and I think it was time we took that step further in our relationship.
"Are you sure?" he asked skeptically. I nodded with a smile.
"Mason! Did you see my score? I told you I was going to whoop your a*s, didn't I?" Mady asked, running towards us excitedly.
Mason smiled. "Congratulations on finally being able to get the rest of the 1%," he said, handing over some flowers to her too. She squealed happily, taking the flowers from him.
"I told you, didn't I? I can do anything as long as I set my mind to it. But what did you get?" she asked curiously playfully pushing him out of the way. She scoffed when she saw his score.
"A genius always stays a genius," I said with a smile.
"Can't you let me have the last laugh? Just once?" she asked in disbelief.
"It's not my fault I never get any questions wrong," he responded with a chuckle. I laughed at their banter. The principal walked towards us.
"Congratulations to my two perfect score students. You made the school proud again," she said to them with a smile.
"Thank you," they both replied. She looked towards me.
"Congratulations to you too Lexi. What a great improvement from your last result. It's great you took up those tutoring classes like I said," she said to me before walking away.
"I'm glad I did too," I mumbled to myself. I looked outside and caught sight of Rachel looking at the school be fore turning around and walking into her car. She wasn't in her uniform. Did she really mean it when she said she was going to leave as soon as the tests ended?
Lexi's POV
I stared at the school notice board where our results were posted in utter bewilderment. I closed my eyes and opened them again just to be sure. A whopping 78% under my name stared back at me. "Mason, Mady, we need to go somewhere," I said, holding their hands and pulling them along.
"Where are we going?" Mady asked curiously.
"You will see but we have to hurry," I replied. We got into the car and I directed the driver towards the airport. When we arrived, I hurriedly got down and pulled both of them towards the entrance. "Why are we running in an airport? Are we going to see someone?" Mason asked.
"Yes we are," I replied, glancing around and at that moment, I caught sight of Rachel.
"Who is it?" he inquired curiously.
"She's right over there," I said pointing towards her.
"Rachel?" they both called out in shock at the same time. She looked up from where she was sitting.
"Mason? Mady? Lexi, what are you all doing here?" she asked, walking past the crowd of people towards us in surprise.
"I should be asking you that. Are you going somewhere?" Mady asked curiously. Rachel glanced towards the bags that were behind her.
"Yes, I'm going back with my mum. You should probably leave. You wouldn't want her to see you and cause a scene again," she replied worriedly.
"Were you planning on leaving again without informing anyone?" Mason asked with a frown.
"I didn't think it would matter," she muttered.
"You didn't think it would matter? We've been friends for more than ten years and you didn't think it would matter? Do you like always leaving unannounced?" Mason asked irately. "Lexi, how did you know she was leaving?" Mady asked me.
"She came to my place a few days ago and made mention of it. I didn't really think she was serious about it till I saw her leaving earlier," I explained.
"You must have known this by now but I'm not really good with goodbyes. And after everything that happened..," Mady cut her off by pulling her into a hug.
"You are a pain, you know that right? But still, I was glad to see you again after all these years. It's sad that you have to leave again," she sniffled.
"You should let me go. My flight leaves in three minutes," Rachel muttered. Mady held her tighter.
"Where's Torres? He's always with you but I can't see him anywhere," she continued.
"He went on a trip and I don't know when he will be coming back," she replied but pulled away from her in surprise. "Don't tell me..."
"Yes, Mady. Even a blind person can tell something is going on between the both of you. Anyway, I'm happy for the both of you," she responded with a smile. She walked towards Mason and me.
"I'm sure I troubled you both a lot right? I'm sorry. I hope you can forgive me and we can go back to the way we used to be," she said, stretching her hand towards him, hopeful for a handshake.
"Come back soon. Don't deal with everything all on your own," he said, shaking her hand. She smiled and nodded in response.
"Thank you for this Lexi. I really appreciate it," she said, suddenly pulling me in a hug. I was surprised at first but I hugged her back. "I need to go now, otherwise I'm going to miss my flight. Bye everyone, thank you for seeing me off. It really meant a lot," she waved at us before dragging her suitcase and running along.
"That brat. She has caused so much trouble but I just can't hate her," Mady muttered.
"Thank you for telling us about this. I really needed to set things right with her," Mason said, holding my hand as we walked out of the airport.
"I'm glad I did," I replied. They dropped me off at home and I rushed in to tell my parents the great news.
"Mum, Dad, I passed my tests. I had 78%" I said excitedly as soon as I walked in. They both smiled at me.
"The principal already called us. Congratulations my dear. I knew you could do it," Dad said as he hugged me. Mum hugged me too.
"I couldn't have done this without you both," I replied gratefully.
"No, you did this all on your own with the help of Mason. You should take credit for your own efforts. I'm proud of you," Mum responded. I headed into my room to get ready for dinner after chatting with them for a while. I opened up my closet and took out the clothes I was going to wear but my pills and box of cigarettes fell out. I had completely forgotten I even had them. I picked them up from the floor and walked into the bathroom. I opened the waste bin and dumped everything in it. I didn't need them anyway. I found a healthier way to deal with my problems. I smiled at the thought of Mason.
I hurriedly took a shower and got dressed before Mason would arrive and this time, I didn't feel the need to lock the door of my room. After I was done, I headed downstairs and met my mum sitting on the couch. She gasped in surprise.
"Look at you all dressed up. To think I used to pester you about putting on some make-up. Love is truly a beautiful thing," she declared happily. I smiled shyly. I heard the sound of a car and I almost rushed to the door when I remembered Mum was still right there. She chuckled.
"Go on. Have fun, I'm not worried because I know Mason will take good care of you," she said. The words barely made their way out of her mouth when I dashed out of the house. I saw him earlier but I couldn't help but want to see him again. And there he was, casually leaning against the car and smiling at me like I was the prettiest thing he ever set his eyes on.
"You look beautiful," he said, getting the car for me.
"Thank you. You look good too," I responded with a smile. He got in and helped me with my seat belt.
"Are you ready?" he inquired. I nodded.
"I will be right there with you," he assured me.
"I know you will. I don't ever doubt it," I replied.
