Tomas cursed in a deep voice: “Amber, I probably could do nothing about that, and I’m not in charge of the company. But I have a solution.”

“What is it?”

Amber asked in a low voice, “Amber, you can take over the Smith Group from Sean. Then if he wants to depress the White Group again, you can stop him.”

Amber was shocked.

She took a deep breath and forced out a smile, “Mr. Smith, I’m just an outsider. Is it inappropriate for me to manage the Smith Group?”

“No, Sean has recollected the past and wouldn’t marry someone else except for you. Maybe in this life, Cindy will be his only child. So, we are outsiders.”

“Amber, the Smith Group will belong to Cindy someday.”

“No!” Amber denied, “Lu Yi can manage the company for you. He is more experienced than me…”

“I am old, but I’m not confused. If Lu Yi manages the company, there will be interest disputes.” Tomas paused, then said, “I have discussed with Sean’s mother. As long as you agree, I will leave the Smith Group to you. You were promoted by me, and I know your ability better than anyone else. Amber, think it over.”

Amber was stunned.

Lu Yi lied to her.

If he didn’t, Tomas wouldn’t ask her to manage the Smith Group.

Sean snorted, “Cindy is learning to play the piano with her piano teacher. Why should I be with her?”

She paused.

Sean continued, “Amber, don’t you have anything to say to me?”

“If you are in Hai Wan Xiang Xie, put Cindy on the phone.”

Sean reached out and stopped the music player in front of him. He heard the sound of Amber tapping the keyboard, “Are you still working overtime in the company?”

Amber, “If I say yes, will you stop depressing the White Group?”

“Are you begging me?”

Amber asked in a low voice, “Will it work?”

“No, unless you come back willingly.”

“Then we’re done here.”

She was no longer Sean’s wife and not obliged to put up with Sean’s bad temper.

Amber hung up the phone. A few minutes later, Sean called back. She hesitated, and answered it. Cindy’s soft voice rang, “Mom!”

“Hey, baby.”

“Dad told me that you are working overtime again. Take care of yourself and have a good rest!”

Amber smiled, and whispered, “It’s up to your dad when I can rest.”

Cindy kept silent for a moment.

She said aggrievedly, “Mom, I want you to come back.”

“Why?”

“Lin Man came to dad today.”

Amber’s eyes darkened.

So Sean still had some unfinished business with Lin Man?

Cindy bit the corner of her lips and said grievously, “Dad thought I didn’t know, but I actually had gotten up when Lin Man came here. She wanted to borrow money from dad.”

“When they were talking, Lin Man tried to throw herself into dad’s arms.”

Throw herself into Sean’s arms?

Lin Man went to Sean to borrow money, which meant that she was raising money that she owed Alice.

Lu Xiangxiang told her that Lin Man was sentenced to compensate Alice ten million dollars.

When Lin Man was in school, she had always been reckless with money. Naturally, she did not have the habit of saving money.

Lin Man’s whole plagiarism thing was Sean’s idea. How could Sean lend her money?

Sean didn’t know how to speak sweet words. These words were probably made up by Cindy. Amber didn’t believe what Cindy said.

She didn’t take it to heart.

“Mom, I miss you so much. When will you come back? I can play the piano. The teacher said she will teach me to play Little Star someday. After I learn it, I can play it for you.”

Amber pressed her lips and said in a low voice, “Cindy, I need you to do something for me.”

“I need you to ask dad what lead to the quick spreading of his cancer cells…”

Sean’s health was going from bad to worse. When she was thinking, Sean’s voice suddenly came through the phone.

“Why would you ask that?”

Amber froze.

“I studied medicine, and your situation is very special. I’m curious…”

“So, you are using me as a research subject?”

Sean said in a flat tone. Amber could hardly hear any emotions from his voice. She pressed her lips and did not speak again.

Sean laughed.

“Did anyone tell you anything?”

“No.”

Amber denied it.

Sean’s eyes quickly darkened, “Amber, didn’t anyone tell you that if you deny too quickly, it will make you sound guilty?”

Amber kept silent. What Sean said next shocked her.

“It’s about Lu Yi, isn’t it?”

“Don’t be ridiculous!”

Amber took a deep breath and reminded him, “Sean, Lu Yi is your cousin.”

“My cousin who is anxious to watch me die?”

Sean’s tone was hostile, which scared Amber.

Amber felt Sean’s words were meaningful, but she didn’t know if it was her illusion.
