Outside, the lights were brilliant and the traffic was busy. When Amber met Sean’s eyes, she froze. Before she could be moved, she looked away.

In a suit and high heels, she walked to Cindy, leaned over to pick her up, and walked towards Sean.

“What are you doing here?”

“Can’t I be here?”

“You had an appointment with Mr. Lin, but you kept pushing it back. If he sees you here, it will be bad for the company, isn’t it?”

Just after Amber finished speaking, she turned her head and saw Mr. Lin’s face through the car window glass. Her smile disappeared.

It was drizzling. Amber couldn’t ignore Mr. Lin. Mr. Lin rolled down the car window and rested his eyes on Sean with a smile.

“Mr. Smith, I thought I was mistaken. It’s really your car. Why didn’t you meet me in there just now?”

The New Year’s Eve movie was not a small investment. Amber didn’t want anything to go wrong with it. Cindy was sitting on her lap. Amber secretly pinched Sean’s waist.

She was sure that she pinched him hard, but Sean’s expression remained unchanged and even smiled at Mr. Lin.

“I just arrived. When I was about to go in, Amber came out. Mr. Lin, you know my physical condition. If I go in but can’t have a drink with you, wouldn’t you be disappointed?”

Sean smiled and said in a low voice, “I have some dahongpao tea in my house. Would you like to come to my place and have a try?”

Mr. Lin’s expression instantly softened a bit.

“That’s good tea. I will pay a visit to you!”

Sean appeased Mr. Lin, and then left with Amber and Cindy.

Amber’s hand was held in the palm of Sean. She tried to draw it back but failed.

A moment ago, Mr. Lin was there. Amber didn’t dare to make any big moves. She gave him a fierce look and said, “Let go of me!”

Sean’s expression remained unchanged, and didn’t intend to let go of her hand.

Amber struggled hard. Cindy felt it, lowered her head and glanced at them, then covered her eyes in an exaggerated manner, “Mom, dad, aren’t you shy? You are holding hands right before me!”

“Mom, am I a third wheel? I’ll go sit in the baby chair in front!”

Amber used a lot of strength and drew back her hand.

She looked cold, held Cindy with one hand, and distanced herself from Sean.

She didn’t want to argue with Sean in front of Cindy.

After coaxing Cindy to sleep, Amber came out of the shower and saw Sean outside.

He was sitting on the single sofa in the bedroom, holding an economic newspaper. The warm light poured down his head, making his silhouette even more beautiful.

Amber stopped wiping her wet hair and asked him, “What is it?”

Sean shook his head. Amber looked a little sullen. She bit her l*p corner, “Sean, you think I am your personal property because I’m staying in Hai Wan Xiang Xie and agreed to work for the Smith Group?”

The atmosphere became tense instantly. When Sean opened his mouth and was about to speak, a noise came from outside.

Amber frowned, took a look at Sean, opened the bedroom door and walked out. There was a mess downstairs. Almost all the servants were standing downstairs.

Seeing her, the housekeeper pressed the corner of his lips and whispered, “Miss White.”

“What’s going on?”

Sean asked. When he spoke, the living room fell quiet immediately.

“Mr. Smith, something was wrong with Lacey.”

Lacey?

Hearing this name, Amber paused. It sounded like a woman’s name, but none of the maids in Hai Wan Xiang Xie was called Lacey. Sean was too weak to hook up with this woman.

Sean also froze for a moment, and then reacted.

Lacey was a dog. He knew Cindy liked pets, so he bought a Poodle for her. Later, Cindy had toxocariasis and lost her eyesight. Sean had no chance to give it to her, so he kept the dog in captivity behind the villa.

After Amber moved in, Sean told the butler not to let Amber see the dog.

After Cindy recovered from toxocariasis, Amber hated cats and dogs.

Sean explained to Amber in a low voice. Amber’s heart had a somersault and asked, “What happened to Lacey?”

The steward said, “She’s dying. I did have her checked regularly. When the servant went to feed her, she was foaming at the mouth…”

The panic in Amber’s heart became more intense. She asked in a trembling voice, “What do you mean by this?”

The butler glanced at Sean, then looked at Amber and replied, “Only Cindy played with Lacey in the afternoon. A servant saw her feed the dog the dessert prepared by the kitchen for her.”

Amber felt like jelly all over. Sean quickly caught her. Otherwise, Amber would have rolled down the stairs.

Amber got out of Sean’s arms and hurriedly ran into Cindy’s room. Sean panicked too.

In the afternoon, he spent most of the time having the drip, and he didn’t even know what Cindy did.

Cindy was his baby. Sean only felt frightened. He pressed the corner of his mouth and pushed the door in. Cindy was sleeping peacefully. Amber stepped forward and directly pulled Cindy out of the bed.

Cindy liked to eat sweets and had always liked them since she was a child.

She rubbed her eyes and asked Amber, “Mom, what’s the matter?”

Amber almost cried.

“The donut in the afternoon.”

“What donut?”

Amber grabbed Cindy’s shoulders hard. Cindy cried, “Mom, it hurts.”

Sean pulled Amber away, “Don’t panic, I’ve already called Dr. Jin. He’ll come over to examine Cindy.”

At least nothing was wrong with Cindy for the time being.

Cindy figured out what was going on, and explained to Amber, “Mom, I gave that donut to Lacey. I didn’t eat it.”
