Purchased A Mr. Right -
Chapter 697
After about two hours of driving, when they arrived at the town, it was nearly dark.
After coming out of the car, Simon did not immediately walk inside. Instead, he opened the trunk. Emily followed him with confusion and saw that it was full of wrapped packages.
Emily was surprised. "Why did you take so many things?"
Simon took down all the gifts and gestured her to close trunk with his chin. "Last time I didn't bring anything. I'll make it up this time!"
Emily blankly raised her hand and closed it. She saw that he was burdened by sacks and boxes, which even affected his pace. After getting married for a few months, she found that his frivolous exterior concealed one of the most considerate hearts.
In all fairness, he did what a husband should do.
Biting her lip, Emily said in a low voice, "Simon, you don't have do this!"
"Up the stairs!" Simon merely said.
When they reached the old-fashioned door, the door was pushed open from the inside without waiting for Emily to take out the key as if they had been waiting for them for a long time, so they could immediately greet them upon hearing their footsteps.
"Simon, nice to see you!" Aunt shouted enthusiastically.
Emily, who was ignored behind, mumbled unhappily, "Auntie, I'm here!"
The aunt just gave her a quick glance, and then immediately took Simon in with a smile. "Come in! You must be tired for driving along the way. Sit on the sofa and drink some coffee. You'd better have a rest now! Meal is almost ready."
Emily rolled her eyes behind them in silence.
The smoke exhauster in the kitchen was droning. She went in to have a look and was astounded by the spectacular scene in the kitchen. They had prepared a feast of meat and vegetables, cheese, yogurt, and fruit. The dinner was even more sumptuous than the last time.
"Look at all this!"
Looking at her aunt who was sweating profusely, Emily frowned and said, "Aunt, you don't have to cook so much. Just cook something quick and simple. He's not a president, he doesn't need so many people to cater to him. What's more, he's our family member, so you don't need to make so many dishes every time he comes. He has just one mouth and can eat whatever you give him!" "What do you know?" Aunt said unhappily.
Emily could do nothing but watch her aunt continue to cooking other meals. When she turned around, she saw Simon leaned against the door of the kitchen, lazily squinting at her. After all, she felt a little guilty after saying that. When she was about to say something, she heard him suddenly ask, "I'm a family member?"
"What?" Emily was confused.
That seemed to be what she said just now, but didn't he say that he married aunt's only niece?
Simon stubbed out the cigarette he had just smoked in his hand, walked to her, and kissed her on the lips. Then he said lazily, "I'm going to assist your aunt!"
Emily covered her mouth with her face and ears red.
She didn't expect that he would suddenly kiss her. Fortunately, no one saw them. However, he seemed in a good mood because a shadow of a smile touched his mouth and his amorous eyes were full of laughter.
Was it just because of the flippant remark she said just now?
The meal gave the occasion an almost festive air. They chatted happily, their faces alight with energy and delight. Last time, they greeted him with stiff formality, but now they made friends with him instantly. Even Emily was a little curious whether he always belonged to this family.
When she sat down, her aunt suddenly got up and went to the kitchen. Soon she came back with a birthday cake and placed it in the middle of the round table.
After opening the cake box, she saw a layer of sweetened fruit on top. In the middle of it was a small card made of white chocolate, saying "Happy Birthday". It's a beautiful cake that made her mouth water. When Emily saw this, she couldn't help but say in surprise, "Whose birthday is today? Uncle's birthday is several months ago. Aunt's and Selena's should be at the end of the year, right?"
"Sis, how could you forget that? It's your birthday today!" Selena said in a low voice.
"My birthday?" Emily was stunned.
She didn't believe it until she took out her phone and looked at the calendar. She'd totally forgotten her birthday!
"You see, my child, she even forgot her birthday!" Aunt said with a smile, "You know what? Recently I went back to work again and I completely forgot her birthday, what with one thing and another. But Simon called to ask me how to celebrate your birthday. He even bought you this cake!"
Emily looked at Simon in astonishment.
He was getting up from the chair and walking to the door of the living room to turn off the lights.
Selena was already urging her with the lighter. "Sis, I've lit all the candles. Come on, make a wish!" "Okay!" Emily swallowed hard.
She closed her eyes and earnestly prayed with her hands folded in front of her chest.
Her dearest wish was same every year. For her parents died early, she only hoped that her family and friends would always be healthy and happy.
More than ten seconds later, Emily opened her eyes again.
In the flickering candlelight, Simon's face was sharply defined against the flames. When she saw him staring at her with his amorous, her heart missed a beat.
As her breath was coming in short bursts, she heard his low voice saying, "Mrs. Chin, happy birthday."
Emily quietly clasped her hands under the table. She clearly knew that she had a crush on him.
This time, they drank juice rather than alcohol, mainly because her uncle took antiinflammatory drugs. When Emily was doing the dishes in the kitchen, her aunt came over and said, "Simon just told me that you two would go to the hotel tonight, and I agreed!" "Ah... Oh!" Emily was stunned for a moment and nodded.
She didn't understand why Simon said that. Was it because he didn't feel comfortable sleeping in her bed? At the same time, she was even more surprised at her aunt's promise, she thought her aunt would hope Simon to stay here!
Aunt hesitated for a moment, then nodded and cleared her throat. "Well, it's okay to live outside so as not to wake your uncle up at night!"
"..." Emily almost bit her tongue.
Her face was red, and she wanted to bury her head under the floor. She didn't want to live anymore!
Emily had been staring at her toes until she left home. It was not until she came out of the residential building, sat in the black Cayenne, and fastened her seat belt then she looked up to see his side face. "How do you know my birthday?" She scratched her neck and asked hesitantly.
Simon was starting the car. His hands were turning the steering wheel. When he turned the steering wheel, he glanced at her and said lightly, "I saw it when we registered."
