Purchased A Mr. Right
Chapter 738

The spring breeze came as sharp and keen as ice, but it was warm inside the car.

The limited-edition BMW Mini is a car suitable for a woman. From the outside, it looks small and delicate, but one would be amazed by how spacious it is inside. Emily knew that one of her more- well-to-do colleagues was driving one; the said colleague had given her a ride in her Mini one time. But now, sitting on the front passenger seat, Emily felt suffocated.

Finally, her vision opened up when she spied a familiar sight.

She could see the apartments right beside the river and Emily, with a secret sigh of relief, pointed at the entrance, saying, "There, Ms. Swan. You can stop there. I can walk in from there." When Simon had to rush into surgery, Emily had gone to collect his luggage. Only she did not expect that Addy would step into the elevator with her.

And when she finally came out of the hospital, Addy had offered to drive her. Emily had refused her at first, but Addy was vehemently insistent, and the situation was not helped by how there was no taxi when Emily was stuck there with a large travel case.

"All right then!" Addy smiled.

The Mini veered into the entrance of the apartment area. Emily might have tried to keep her eyes peeled at the front, but she had been observing Addy through the corners of her eyes the whole journey.

At first, she thought if Addy might have something to say to her. But as the car slowly eased to a halt, Addy made no sign of speaking to her. Perhaps she was only driving her out of kindness and that made Emily feel guilty instead.

Usually, when she came home by taxi, she would just hail the security guard, a Mr. Weil, to let her taxi come in.

But Emily did not want to do that today. She could not bear staying in the car for not one more second and the sensation of wanting to burst out only grew stronger with time, and she wanted the space that both she and Simon shared to not include any other woman.

Especially this woman in particular... thought Emily. His Addy Swan.

Addy stopped the car at last and smiled at her, "Let me help you with the luggage!"

Emily frowned. She opened her mouth to protest but before she could utter a syllable, Addy was already out of the car. Her lean figure circled around the back and Emily could see her popping open the trunk through the rearview mirror.

She undid her seat belt quickly and got out of the car as well.

Seeing Emily from his security booth, Mr. Weil came out to greet her with his usual enthusiasm, "Welcome back, Mrs. Chin!"

"Yes!" Emily replied quickly.

In which time, Addy Swan had finished retrieving the silver-colored travel case and was shutting the lid of the trunk, after which she rolled the travel case over.

"It's all right, Addy, I can take it from here," Emily pursed her lips and hurried to her.

Addy's fingers tightened around the handle of the travel case. Hesitation showed in those beautiful eyes of hers that it took her a second before she finally allowed Emily to take the case. Awkwardly, she uttered, "It's heavy."

Emily took the suitcase. She regained some composure and said, "Thank you so much for driving me back, Ms. Swan."

"You're welcome!" Addy smiled thinly, her gaze moving up from the case to her face. Her expression shifted as if she really was wrestling with doubt before she finally spoke, "No matter what, Ms. Sam. I hope you can understand Simon and not blame him."

Emily frowned, at a loss and tremendously uncomfortable at the same time.

Mr. Weil, seeing the large travel case, came to them instead of trotting back to his security booth and said, "Come, Mrs. Chin. Allow me!"

Emily thanked him. When she turned around, the red BMW Mini was gone.

Emily shut the door behind her and pushed the travel case from the entrance of her apartment into the bedroom.

This must have been the most chaotic off-day she has ever had. Her original plan was to accompany Tina and Isla to the hospital before going to the amusement park. That should have been their plan and instead, Wilson appeared out of nowhere and that was the start of all the hodgepodge today.

Emily's eyes wandered to the silver-colored travel case. Simon should have not been back yet for another two days and she didn't expect him to come back so soon and the reason for his early return hardly amused her.

She pouted quietly herself.

She hit herself twice at the temples and kept her eyes shut. Then she allowed herself to lean back and fell back into her bed, trying not to think about anything at all. When Emily opened her eyes again, the sky outside had changed. Scarlet streaks smeared across the distant horizon in the evening twilight. She got up at once.

It was noon when she laid down to clear her mind but she had fallen asleep without knowing it and for so long!

Emily yawned. Every inch of her body was sore and she could feel them screaming at her as she struggled against the sluggishness to just fall back and collapse into another slumber. Had she stayed up too late for her dramas last night?

She peered at her watch. It was 5.30 pm and the whole house was quiet. Simon must still be at the hospital. That was how it is to be a doctor. He must still be in there, trapped inside the operating theater with an endless line of patients waiting for him to perform surgery on.

Feeling the emptiness of her stomach groaning at her, she got up and headed to the kitchen to look for some snacks. But when she made it back to the bedroom, she spied the travel case standing by the door and opened it, thinking of sorting through the items inside for Simon.

If not, he might tell her to by the time he got back, and not without the overblown chutzpah of his!

Emily pouted quietly. In spite of her reluctance, she made short work of his things.

She picked through his neatly-folded articles of clothing quickly, hanging them all one by one using clothes hanging. She traced a finger from the collar of his shirts and down to the bottom as if she was feeling the contours of his chest. Simon was the kind of man that packed quite a lot inside his outwardly slender figure and she of all people knew how hard and taut the muscles and sinews of his belly were. He told her just now that he had been hungry. For a long time.

Her cheeks burned. Emily cursed herself for entertaining such lewd thoughts of his!

At least she was still alone and Simon was not yet back. She licked her parched lips and continued working. Then she flipped up the travel case when she was done and found a wad of A4 papers under a set of long pants.

Thinking it was materials about medicine, she paid no heed to it. She took it up and thought of leaving it at his study so that he could easily go through it when he came back later.

But when she lifted it up, her footsteps wobbled.

As far as she could see, the documents contained nothing about science and she saw nothing about medicine as far as she could see. Instead, her eyes immediately caught sight of five bold and thick words. Divorce papers.

Emily stared with her eyes growing wider like eggs and felt the whole world spinning around her.

The pair of pink patches on her face vanished and all color drained from her cheeks instead that even her lips went as pale as milk.

She staggered sideways unsteadily, her fingers clutching to the cold marble windowsill for balance. The chill stung deep through her skin and deep into her heart and Emily shuddered.
