Purchased A Mr. Right -
Chapter 739
Outside the window, the night was on.
Just like what Emily had guessed, Simon had been staying in the operating room the entire time.
He took off the disposable mask and cap and threw them in the red waste bin. Wearing the green surgical gown, he walked toward the lift. Through the corridor windows, he could see the neon lights were gradually on in the city.
He took out the silver ring from his pocket. He had taken it off before the operation, and now he put it back on his ring finger.
Simon had to do it several times a day at work. There was a rule in the hospital that surgeons were not allowed to wear rings during operations. Although it was troublesome, he didn't mind it at all. As the lift slowly closed, Simon moved his cervical vertebra to release the tiredness.
He took the earliest flight at 5:30 a.m. to return and kept it from Emily to surprise her. When the plane landed, he thought of her stunned and silly look when she saw him back and chuckled in his heart!
The director's call came so suddenly that he couldn't refuse it. He didn't expect that there would be two more cases in the emergency room. The situation was very critical. There were not many doctors on duty at the weekend. As an honorable doctor, he had to take up the responsibility. After doing three tricky operations in a row, he found it was already nighttime.
When the lift arrived on the floor of the cardiac surgery department, Simon strode out.
Thinking of Emily at home, he only wanted to go back as soon as possible. After all, he had been on a trip for so long and hadn't seen her for many days. When he came out of the operating room, he wanted to call her, only to find that his phone was dead.
A trace of light flashed in his eyes. Having been apart from her for so long, he longed for getting intimate with her and believed she missed him too!
Hurrying to do the operation during the day, he only got to hug her shoulder, but it already made him restless...
When he passed by the nurse station, the nurse immediately stood up when she saw him and said with a hint, "Dr. Chin, someone is waiting for you in the office!"
"Okay!" Simon took a glance.
Because he wanted to go home so badly, he didn't stop. He answered faintly and continued to walk straight to his office.
Because the entire department had long known about his marriage, and Emily had come to the hospital more than once, Simon mistakenly thought that the nurse was implying Emily was the one in his office. Thinking that Emily came to find him because she was eager to see him, Simon smiled happily.
Although the office was dark inside, he could still see a beautiful figure sitting at the desk with her back facing him when he pushed the door open.
Simon raised her eyebrows and strode in.
Simon swallowed his saliva. As he stretched out his hand and was about to lift the woman from behind, she turned around.
"Simon!" It was not the voice that he was expecting.
Simon's hand froze in the air. He quickly took it back, turned around, and turned on the light. After seeing clearly who was waiting for him in the office, he frowned immediately, "Addy, why are you here?" Addy was well-dressed with delicate makeup.
At this time, when she saw his tight eyebrows, she couldn't help but be sad, "Simon, what's the matter? Don't you want to see me?"
"Well, it's not that," Simon said. He was merely a bit disappointed.
Only by then did he realized why the nurse's tone was a bit weird. He looked over and asked, "Addy, why are you in my office? Is there anything I can do for you?"
"Can't I come to you just to see you?" Addy complained deliberately.
Simon put one hand in his pocket and didn't say anything.
Seeing this, Addy stopped teasing but still smiling, "I wanted to tell you something in the morning. But Emily was there, and then you were in a hurry to do the operation... So I came to the office to wait for you!" After that, she stood up, picked up a transparent box by her feet, and put it on the table. It was tied with a beautiful silk ribbon. Inside, it was a white chocolate birthday cake.
"Simon, I brought the cake. Will you accompany me to blow out the candle and make a wish?" Addy said with an affectionate voice, "I'm so happy. I thought I would spend my birthday alone. But I am surprised that you still remembered it and came back early from the trip..."
"Today's your birthday?" Simon asked, feeling surprised.
"You don't remember?" Addy was stunned, and her face couldn't help but freeze. She asked uncertainly, "Simon, did you not back to celebrate my birthday?"
Hearing that, Simon's eyes narrowed. He said in a low voice, "Addy, you were also here earlier today."
He did not avoid the others when he was explaining to Emily that he came back early to surprise her, and Addy should also have heard what he said.
Addy's face froze for a second, but soon she smiled warmly and reached out to hold his hand affectionately, "Simon, I know you're still mad at me, so you said these on purpose! You don't have to hide it from me anymore. I know your marriage with Emily is only an agreement. I know that you still love me!"
Simon looked surprised and frowned. Before he could respond, there was a sudden sound coming from the door.
"Dr. Chin!"
A nurse, who was holding a dossier in her arm, ran in.
Running in a hurry, the nurse only knocked twice at the open door and rushed in, only to find that Addy was holding Simon's hand. She said tremblingly, "Ahem! Dr. Chin. Do I need to give antibiotics to the patient, who just had the operation in bed number 15, tonight?"
"No, you don't!" Simon said in a deep voice.
"Okay!" The nurse nodded and ran away immediately.
Looking at the nurse running away in a panic, Simon shook off Addy's hand and put his hand at the back as if to avoid her grasp again.
Simon frowned deeply. The office was not the place for talking. Especially in the evening, it would easily cause unnecessary misunderstandings and trouble.
Simon looked at Addy, who had been staring at him with her eyes full of deep affection and infatuation. After thinking for two seconds, Simon said, "Addy, can you give me two minutes to change my clothes? Then we will talk somewhere else."
Addy agreed with joy.
Addy waited at the door patiently. After Simon changed his surgical gown into his charcoal gray shirt, he strode out, and Addy followed him with the cake in her hand with smiles.
After the black Cayenne turned right, it drove away in the night.
Sitting in the driver's seat, Simon lowered his head to light a cigarette. What he didn't notice was that right after he left, a taxi stopped at the hospital. As its back door opened, Emily, who was holding a bag tightly, got off.
