Chapter 791 Rocky Was Back

Soon afterwards, Juey entered the hall and curiously looked around at the gathered people. Barely any respect could be found when she spoke with a cold voice to Raef, "Father, what's the matter?" "Juey, do you know where the servant called Rookie is right now?" Raef went straight to the point. "Rookie? How would I know? Wasn't father who drove him away?" Juey sneered down at him. "What? What are you talking about? I'm your father..." Raef's expression darkened even more as his irritation rose.

"Did you ever take me as your daughter?" Bitter resentment colored her voice.

Those words quickly rendered Raef speechless. He knew that he went too far that day, everyone of the Xiao Clan was all still secretly talking about his reaction on that day. Some even thought that Juey wasn't his biological daughter. When Queenie wanted to disfigure Juey to humiliate her, a true biological father would have interceded on behalf of his daughter. However, Raef did nothing to save her and if it wasn't for Rookie stepping forward, Juey would have already been disfigured.

All the Xiao Clan members could only look on in surprise. None of them expected that Juey would question Raef so openly. This was nothing like the Miss Juey they knew.

"Juey, how can you talk to father like that?" A flash of annoyance passed through Mary's face.

"How do you think I should talk to a father who watched his daughter being disfigured without saying a single word?" Juey spoke coolly and her sharp eyes drilled holes into Mary beneath her long lashes.

When she met her younger sister's eyes, Mary was frozen in her seat. It was the first time that she saw such a cold and lifeless expression on Juey's face, as if this girl before her wasn't her familiar younger sister.

Anyone who experienced what Juey had to go through would also feel depressed and extremely disappointed.

"Juey, in that situation, father had no choice for the sake of our Xiao Clan. You don't think your face is more important than our Xiao Clan's survival, right?" Travis sharply explained and narrowed his eyes at her. He didn't expect that his sister would make trouble at such a critical moment.

"Is that so? I got it! If there's nothing else, I'm returning to my room." Once she heard what Travis had to say, Juey's expression didn't even twitch as she turned to leave.

"You stupid girl!" Raef huffed and thumped the table in anger when he saw Juey leave.

"Father, don't be angry. Juey is just being childish. We have to find Rookie first." Mary quickly comforted him.

"The only way now is to post a reward within the entire city. Maybe someone would give us clues,” Travis finally suggested after a moment's thought.

"That's a good idea. Guards!" Raef quickly agreed with him and called his men to prepare a reward poster.

Within the same day, the entire Barren City was peppered with Rocky's portrait as the Xiao Clan issued the reward posters. The original reward was only a thousand taels of silver coins. An entire day passed by but there was still no clues about Rocky, so the reward increased to three thousand taels of silver coins. However, no clues came up after another day, so they raised it to five thousand. As the third day rolled around, they could no longer wait and improved the reward to ten thousand taels of silver coins or a thousand taels of gold. Even though a thousand taels of gold wasn't a big deal in the eyes of rich people, it was still a mountain of gold and silver in the eyes of common people.

It caused a huge stir in Barren City as almost all the citizens wanted to get the large prize money and began to look for clues about Rocky.

Meanwhile, Rocky was busy walking through the desert with Rainbow Glow Unicorn and they were almost at the Barren City. Rocky had no idea that everyone in the Barren City was looking for him. Rocky's plan was to go back to the Barren City first to prepare essential goods before heading back to the Holy Dragon Empire. He intended to take a peek at the Timber Deity Empire capital before he went back to the Holy Dragon Empire. It was also because he wanted to check with Woods whether Sabina and others were safe or not. Moreover, he also wanted to gather some recent information. He stayed in the Barren City for a long time but hadn't heard a peep about the Holy Dragon Empire. He needed to know whatever was happening so he could avoid unnecessary trouble when he returned back home.

Just as Rocky entered the gate of the Barren City, people pointed and shouted at him, "It's him! It's him! The man on the Xiao Clans reward poster!"

In an instant, the whole street turned into a battlefield as crowds of people surged from all directions and surrounded Rocky.

A dumbstruck expression appeared on Rocky's face at the bizarre sight and he quickly revised his plans into leaving right away. It was nothing short of strange on why the Xiao Clan issued a reward on him. Of course, he wasn't worried about what the Xiao Clan would do to him. What he couldn't help was his worry for Juey. Perhaps it was because Juey's face resembled Sue's that made him have the same concern for Juey as he did for Sue.

After a moment's thought, Rocky went straight ahead as a strong aura rose from all over his body and amazed everyone around him. They stopped in their tracks and didn't dare to get any closer to him anymore. The crowd parted like the sea before him.

Once he got through the crowd, Rocky headed straight for the Xiao mansion but the Barren City citizens didn't give up and trailed after him the entire way.

Even the other Barren City citizens elsewhere flooded the streets to the Xiao mansion and caused a massive traffic jam. People from outside the Barren City would think that an important person arrived.

Each one of them was eager to find out what kind of a person the Xiao Clan wanted so much that they posted a handsome amount of gold as a reward.

Most citizens looked on in disappointment when they saw Rocky as he looked extremely average. Nothing about him looked like a peerless master at all. Even so, they still didn't approach him in fear of the invisible force he was radiating.

When Rocky walked leisurely in front of the Xiao mansion, even the Xiao Clan disciples were stunned for a moment before they scrambled to quickly inform Raef.

Soon, Raef himself arrived at the entrance, followed by Travis, Mary, and other Xiao Clan members. "Well, Mister... Mr. Rookie... You finally... finally came back.” For a moment, Raef fumbled on what to call him. His hands folded before him and a fawning smile appeared on his face.
