Chapter 792 A Small Request

Surrounding the Xiao mansion, the citizens of Barren City were astonished to see how Raef respected Rocky. In fact, the citizens even thought that Rocky must be a big shot. Little did they know that Rocky was just a mere servant of the Xiao Clan before.

At that point, both Travis and Mary had mixed feelings about what was happening. Mary used to despise Rocky, but now that he had become the Xiao Clan's last hope, she could not help but resent him even more.

"Chief Raef, I don't know why you put so much effort as to offer a reward on me. Is it because I offended Miss Queenie of the Cao Clan and she planned to settle accounts with me?" Rocky asked bluntly.

"I won't dare let the chief of the Xiao Clan to apologize to me. Chief Raef, you must have something else to tell me. Just say it. Don't beat around the bush. I can take it," Rocky sneered. He thought that it was not Raef's nature to apologize for what happened last time. There must be something wrong. "Okay, you got me. I'll be frank with you, Mr. Rookie. Do you remember Master Lucas of the Cao Clan? The one who came with Miss Queenie the last time..." Seeing that Rocky was not easy to fool, Raef knew he had to tell him the truth, or he would find it out from other people.

"Oh, Master Lucas! Yes, I do. So what's wrong with him?" Rocky answered.

"So, here is the thing. Master Lucas seems to appreciate your talent very much, so he particularly recommended you to the chief of the Cao Clan. "Sorry, but I'm not interested.” Rocky refused the offer in a straightforward manner.

"Oh, come on. Give it another thought! If you don't go, then the other two slots of the Xiao Clan will be canceled as well. The future of the Xiao Clan rests on this year's Beast Master Contest. I hope you reconsider the offer. Of course, the Xiao clan will treat you fairly and with utmost care. Although he was already prepared for Rocky's refusal, he still got nervous the minute he heard Rocky refuse him

The members of the Xiao Clan heard Rocky's words and could not help but gasp in surprise. They didn't expect that a mere servant of the clan could get that cocky and domineering in front of their chief.

"How fucking dare you!" Travis shouted angrily upon hearing his refusal.

"Travis, don't be so rude!" Raef immediately yelled at Travis. He knew that now was time for him to bear the shame and be humble in front of Rocky. It didn't matter if Rocky had insulted him; he would accept every slander that he would throw upon him as long as he could take part in the contest on behalf of his clan.

However, Mary seemed to have made up her mind as she walked towards Rocky with a sexy smile on her face. "It seems that you are still angry with us, Mr. Rookie. In fact, I have done a lot of rude things to you before, and I want to sincerely apologize for that. Now, could you please do me a favor and help the Xiao Clan? After everything is done, I promise you that you will be greatly rewarded," she said. At that point, she thought that she could easily charm him

Seeing that Mary even used the honey trap, Rocky also smiled with disdain written all over his face. Like father, like daughter. In order to achieve their goal, both of them would do everything to push through with their intention.

"If there is nothing else that we should talk about, then I would rather leave now," said Rocky. Not wanting to have anything to do with the Xiao Clan, he wanted to leave at that very moment.

"Right this way, Mr. Rookie.” As soon as she finished her words, Mary nodded to Raef and left with Rocky.

"Thank God. Mary's plan is working." Seeing that Rocky had finally chosen to stay, Raef felt relieved. "Father, are we really going to act so humble in front of him?" Obviously, Travis also shared the same feeling they had towards Rocky.

On the other hand, Rocky walked in the Xiao mansion along with Mary. They walked past an arched door that led to a long corridor surrounded by green trees and red flowers. After walking with such a pleasant scene, they arrived at the backyard of the mansion.

"Where have you been these days, Mr. Rookie? It seems that you have set out for a long journey,” Mary said. Seeing that Rocky didn't talk much, she decided to initiate a topic that they could talk about.

"I'm not that familiar with you yet, Miss Mary. I don't think I need to tell you where I've been," Rocky replied coldly.

Upon hearing his harsh words, Mary felt enraged. If it weren't for keeping Rocky to stay and take part in the Beast Master Contest on behalf of the Xiao Clan, she would not display humility in front of him. In fact, she could not wrap her head around as to why a mere servant of the clan captured Lucas’ attention. Lucas had even recommended Rocky to the chief of the Cao Clan in person. Despite what Lucas thought of him, Mary sensed that Rocky was not a Beast Master at all. In fact, all she knew about him was that he was just a little smart.
