Chapter 799 Come To The Cao Mansion

"Chief Raef, how is it going?" asked Rocky, fixing his eyes on the chief of the Xiao Clan.

Raef looked embarrassed and hesitated to answer.

"Father..." Mary gave Raef a slight nod, signaling that he could accept Rocky's request. She thought that even if Rocky could get the formula of the Holy Life Saving Hand, it was very unlikely for him to master it.

"Well, seeing that you are very determined to learn our family Beast Curing Skill, I will impart it to you as a gift," Raef said, wincing as every word left his clenched teeth.

"As for my second condition, I want you to publicly announce that Juey will be the heir of the Xiao Clan chief." Rocky calmly uttered the astonishing request.

Every member of the Xiao Clan was dumbfounded and had their mouths agape upon hearing the second request.

Mary did not know how to react. After all, she was the intended heir, not Juey.

Of course, the one who was most surprised was Juey. She didn't expect that Rocky would ask that for her sake. She couldn't help but be deeply touched by his gesture.

Rocky put Raef in a precarious spot. On one hand, Raef believed that Juey didn't have the talent to be the heir of the Xiao Clan chief, but on the other hand, if he didn't heed Rocky's request they would be acquired by other big clans sooner rather than later.

"Father, don't agree with him. He just wants to destroy our clan.” Mary pleaded to her father as she shot a glare of hatred towards Rocky.

"Mr. Rookie, you should know that Juey doesn't have the guts nor the talents to successfully lead the Xiao Clan towards a better future. Even if I do agree, most of the members don't want her as the heir!" Raef racked his brain to make up an excuse.

"That's your business. As long as you agree with these two conditions, I will go to the Cao mansion with you.” Of course, Rocky would not give Raef any chance to bargain.

In the eyes of the Xiao Clan members, what Rocky did was the nail in coffin for them. But they didn't know that the reason why Rocky wanted Juey to become the heir of the clan chief was actually for the Xiao Clan's future. After all, if Juey could master the Beast Curing Skill Rocky had taught her, sooner or later, the Xiao Clan would have the status that could not be ignored in the Timber Deity Empire. Of course, this would take time.

Raef didn't see any way but to accept after hearing Rocky's adamant tone. After thinking for a while, Raef decided to only pretend to agree in order to make Rocky go to the Cao mansion with them After Rocky went there and the Beast Master Contest was over, he would be no use to Raef anymore. By then, he could remove Juey as his heir, and things would go back to the way they were. "Okay, I accept both of your conditions,” Raef agreed after much thought. "Mr. Rookie you should be satisfied now." But he was immediately thinking how he would get back at Rocky for making him feel like a fool.

But what he didn't know was that this was all part of Rocky's trap, and it was all going according to plan.

"When shall we leave for the Cao mansion?” Rocky asked.

"In three days," answered Raef seriously.

"Okay," Rocky said. He turned around to look at Juey and said, "I'll come back tomorrow." He then left, leaving all of them shaken up.

"See you tomorrow, Mr. Rookie!" Juey called in the direction of his departure. After that, she turned to Raef and Mary and said, "Father, Mary, I'm going back to my room.” She turned around and went back to her room while happily strutting.

"Father..." Mary worriedly looked at Raef.

"Stop worrying. I know what you're going to say. I will never allow Rocky to destroy the Xiao Clan for as long as I'm alive. The most important thing now is to make you and Travis participate in the Beast Master Contest," said Raef in a stern tone.

"But father, I think Rocky is plotting something else. He may be secretly conspiring with Juey or something,” Mary uttered with jealousy. She really didn't understand why Rocky was so protective of Juey. Was there really some dubious relationship between them?

"I have raised Juey for twenty years. How could she even think of helping an outsider? But for now, that guy is very important to us. I'll never let him have his way. In addition, as for His Royal Highness, I intend to..." A shrewd look appeared on Raef's face. He seemed to have thought of a diabolical plan.

Mary understood the unspoken message her father gave her and she nodded in reply.

Three days passed quickly.

During these three days, Rocky took Juey to spirit-manipulated beast habitats around the Barren City in order to teach her all kinds of surgical techniques and main points, which Juey learned quickly.

On the fourth day, Raef led carriages and horses and left Barren City for the capital.

Rocky and Juey didn't join them because Rocky carefully charted a path where they would pass some spirit-manipulated beast habitats for Juey to see. Of course, the detour was also beneficial for him since he could collect samples of different types of spirit-manipulated beasts for future experiments.

Three days later, the Xiao Clan led by Raef arrived at the capital and then went straight to the Cao mansion.

The Cao mansion covered a vast area in the northwest of the capital, with mountains and rivers by its side.

The mansion looked like paradise on earth. Small bridges were built over crystal-clear rivers. There were pavilions and buildings that were dwarfed by the enormous mountainside. The place was like straight from a postcard

In the southern part of the mansion laid a magnificent siamese building which stretched a thousand meters from west to north. Here lay the power center of the Cao Clan, the Magnificent Hall. It was where the leader of the clan would deal with all kinds of affairs with hall leaders and cadres of the Cao Clan.

The Cao Clan had five halls in total. In addition to the Magnificent hall, there were the Mystery Hall, the Ghostly Hall, the Drifting Hall and, the Dragon-trapping Hall. The latter four halls were responsible for implementing and upholding orders made by the Magnificent Hall. In addition to this, all four hall leaders were immediate family members of the Cao Clan.

Raef, Travis, and Mary, were nervously sitting in the Magnificent Hall as they waited to visit the Cao Clan chief.
