Chapter 56: The Battle Begins

"Kyle," I heard her call out to me as I turned to face her.

She looked ethereal, she was so beautiful and she looked divine. "Lyra," I called her name.

She ran towards me and she hugged me and my heart melted.

"I trained and I am ready to take revenge on Ryker. I also need to fulfil the mission of the queen mother." She said to me as we talked about all she did while she was away.

"Okay to do any of that or to go to war with Ryker or any species, you will need an army," I told her and she nodded which told me she already thought of it.

"I think I have a plan." She smiled.

The arrival of Lyra cause so many speculations among the species most and which were true and others false. The species of the underworld decided to team up with Ryker and the demons that was led by the colossal god. Lyra's plan worked as she started reaching out to species created by the queen mother and they teamed up with her. they all stayed together in the witches havern. I had to pick a side and I chose Lyra's side.

We started stocking up because we didn't know when they will strike and we needed to have supplies because then it won't be easy to get them. I build a barn to store our reservoir and everything was going on as planned. As expected, Ryker sent some of his troops to survey the land but it was covered with magic so they couldn't really say anything about it.

LYRA'S POV

The days of the war drew nearer and I could feel it in my bones, many nights I woke up with night mares as I remembered what the war in moonlit pack looked like. How Ryker attacked and killed everyone of us and each night when I woke up, I swore to do the same to him. I swore to make him pay for all his wrongs and to send every specie that belonged to the under world where they belonged. I swore to defeat the colossal god.

I knew Ryker would attack that night I could feel it in my bones. Their messages where more frequent and that night was a blood moon. They would not turn to their true forms but they will be stronger. All of us will be stronger. I already marked out all the barriers they will attack first and knowing Ryker, I knew he will go for the weak ones. I decided to make our two strongest barriers appear weak in their eyes because that gave us more time to prep the remaining two barriers. Ryker will regret he had not crossed me.

"Lyra, I want you to know that regardless of what happens I will always be by your side and we will win this together," Kyle said warmly as he held my hand.

That night when everyone has gone to bed and the havern was quiet. I sat outside and watched quietly for any signs of attack and I saw them walking directly towards the havern. They looked brutal and would make any opponent shiver in fear but I wasn't just any opponent. I was Lyra.

I went down and signaled to the guards to ring the bells and make the people prepare. I told them to take all the children to the underground building with everyone who could not fight. Then I positioned by best warriors in the south and west barriers, place a spell over the barriers and waited in the middle of the havern. My energy at its highest point.

Kyle came, stood close to me and nodded to me as we both had a mutual agreement.

As they got closer, my determination grew stronger but so did my anxiety as I got flashes of what happened in the last war in moonlit pack and Kyle noticed this and held my hand in his giving it a little squeeze. "You don't need to worry, you along could defeat them all and you have all of us here with you to support you. We will win this battle," he assured me.

The first set of species to reach the barriers were the demons and the sloths. The ones that touched the gate first die and dried up from the protective spell I put on it. But soon they were trooping in and the war started at full force.

I started fighting alongside Kyle as I watched the species troop in and run towards me but they were no match for me. I applied the special techniques that Lacienda taught me and I managed to attack multiple of them at once. I decided to use my strength in the battle field first before considering magic.

We began to win and then the underworld world species suddenly had a boost of strength and they were all looking divine which told me it was the colossal god doing as they began to defeat my warriors.

The queen mother saw this and sent rain to help me and I smiled as I got her message. I began to use the rain turning them to ice bullet and killing hundreds of them at once.

When they saw things weren't going their way, they began to retreat and I knew they only retreated to regroup but this is not the last we will hear of them.

They only tested our strength. They will be back and with full force. I saw it in Ryker's eyes he intends to win but so do I and I will win.

That evening while we cleared up and restored the havern to the way it was before the attack, I noticed that Kyle was nowhere to be seen, so I decided to look for him and I saw him at the back of the woods discussing with someone who vanished a soon as Kyle spotted me, making me wonder if they were there at all.
