” How are they doing ? ” I asked as I entered the room the female warlocks had been in. Now there was the former alpha and Anthea’s mum lying on the beds. The former Luna was sitting at her mate’s side looking horrified at how gray he looked. ” Doc said it’s very touch and go for my mum , the alpha. Once he has some b***d in him, he should be able to shift and heal , now that they have sorted out the arteries that had been severed. He should be on his feet in the next few days, no issues ” she whispered. I looked across at her mother , which I noticed Anthea had yet to do since I walked into the room. Even when she had been talking about her. Her father and brothers were standing around the bed.

” She is going to have surgery as soon as they can bring the stuff down that they need. They’ve given her medication to help with the internal bleeding and putting her in a coma has helped the stress on her body “, she says when she saw where my line of sight had gone. I placed my hand on her arm. ” Are you OK ?” I asked her. She looks down at me and lets out a shaky breath. ” No , if I am honest. I just almost saw my mate sacrifice himself. My dad was hurt badly, now my mum is. And I don’t know how to feel about that. We obviously are not very close. But she is this way now because she actually once came to protect me ” she smiles tightly. ” All I ever wanted was my mum to show she cared , now she has done and almost ends up nearly dead. I want to scream at her. Why now , why act stupidly and go against her? But I can not , she is not even awake. And how can I shout at her for doing something I have always wanted her to do ? ” she said with more frustration in her voice.

I couldn’t give her advice on mother and daughter relationships. I didn’t really have a normal or even anywhere near sane relationship with my own. ” You are entitled to feel anger, Anthea “, I told her with sympathy. She nodded at me and smiled ” Thank you Violet ” she told me. I smiled and just kind of hung around a while , until I saw Rhiala storm past the cell door. She was heading down the corridor and there could only be one cell she was heading to.

Jumping up, I went to the cell door to look down the hall. Anthea was behind me. To watch the show , obviously. ” What are you doing here ? “we heard that girl, Tiffany, spit. I had heard lots about her , but I had’t really interacted myself with this Tiffany. ” I have been and spoken with the new alpha about releasing you and your family. There is no way we can start our mating with you in there “, Rhiala told her. ” The new alpha ? ” a male voice asked. I am guessing being down here , he hadn’t felt the effect of the new alpha taking his position , or maybe it was because the former alpha had cut them off. Who knows.

” Yes , Enzo is alpha now. We won the battle. And unfortunately, the former alpha is injured in the bottom cell “, Rhiala told him matter of factly. ” He is hurt ” the male voice said urgently. Rhiala nodded and looked our way. I would have felt guilty for eavesdropping , but when she saw us she smiled. So , that didn’t make me feel so bad.

” That is the reason why he is letting you come out , he said, and I have to quote this right ” Rhiala told him. ” Because of your loyalty to his father, he is willing to forget everything that has happened and allow you to keep your place in the pack as long as there are no more issues from you and your family. By that he mainly meant her ” she nodded. And I can only assume she was nodding at Tiffany.

” I assure you , there will be no more issues with me or my family. And she will no longer pursue the alpha “, her father said. ” I should hope not seen as we are mates “, Rhiala tells him. Then she opened the door to the cell. The male came out first , he looked down the hall and saw us and then came walking towards us. He stopped in front of Anthea and bowed his head. ” I am truly sorry, Luna , for the hurt me and my family have caused you. I can assure you we will be of no bother to you ” Anthea smiled sweetly at him. ” Thank you , I am sure my father-in-law will be happy to see you out “. She stepped aside and he looked past her into the room. The hurt could plainly be seen on his face , at the sight of his friend. He squeezed into the room and his mate , her mum, followed him in.

That left her standing there , hands crossed over her chest. She looked at me and Anthea , like we were dirt on her shoe. And then stormed off out of the cells. Rhiala hot on her trail. ” That should be interesting ” Anthea said with a sigh. Shira came walking down. “Everything OK down here ? ” she asked, smiling like the cat that got the cream. ” You look happy I am guessing everything went well with your mating ? “Anthea asked, smiling at her. Shira shrugged. ” It kind of all happened so quickly , I am looking forward to being able to slow down now that the initial meeting has happened ” she looked at me. ” I hear you and your mate are walking the same line now ” she teased.

I laughed and shrugged ” Hopefully , time will tell “, I told her. Anthea looks behind her into the room and then sighs. ” I need some air. And a nap , I feel so tired ” she tells us. ” That will be the pups you grow. Enzo is in a meeting with my mate. Why don’t you go lye down for a while. I shall tell him where you have gone “, Shira told her. She shakes her head. No ” There is still a lot to do “, I cut her off. ” No , you will go to sleep and all of it will still be there when you wake up. Shira is right , you need rest “. I only just noticed just how wiped out she was.

She wasn’t having any of it though. We ended up going back out and helping the pack members all get back to their houses that had been in the protection ones. Then we bumped into the warlock women who were all helping with the injured pack and pride members. The pack only had so many doctors and nurses and they were stretched thin. When they saw us , they all smiled at us. They looked full of health now that they have their magic back.

” Luna , girls, we were waiting to see you. We can not thank you enough. You have awoken us and now you have restored our magic too. We were happy to live as humans , because at least we were living. But now , we feel so lucky ” Dataneye said, standing up and pulling each one of us into a hug. I looked down at the injured that were lined up. ” What is happening here ?” I asked. She looked around and looked down at them all. ” We are helping. Living in such a small community, we had no choice but to become medical through the study of books and such. The warlock king did not like outsiders in the castle or us to leave to study. But he would make sure we had all the study materials. It was one of our jobs to learn medicine and other things. We are nowhere near doctors but we are handy enough. They will all be fine , a little strength gathered and with a shift they will be fine. We are also watching some that have been taken into that hall there until a doctor can come to us. They are a little more serious unfortunately”, she said sadly.

Anthea looked towards a large building. ” They are in the training hall ? ” she asked. And Dataneye nodded ” Yes , there was no other place big enough and the training mats were comfortable for them. We also zapped up some medical supplies. The pack isn’t equipped for this many casualties , understandable given they are wolves and they heal fast for smaller casualties. We are positive they will all make a recovery though , and we will stay and care for them. It is the least we can do , after you have saved our lives ” she smiled.

” There is no repayment needed , but thank you for your help. What do you ladies plan on doing now that you are free ? ” Anthea asked them. Dataneye looked down at Antheas’ belly , then back up at her. ” We plan to stay around if that is OK with you and the alpha. You will need our help. ” Anthea looked confused , and more than a little scared at the fact she would need help. But I knew why the warlocks were planning on staying. The magic those babies gave out , it was powerful. Way too powerful for two young children to have. Imagine a two-year-old having a tantrum and harvesting power like that inside of them.

Anthea went to open her mouth and Dataneye shook her head. ” That is a topic for another day. Right now you should rest, Luna. You look like you are about to fall asleep on your feet ” she scolded. Anthea looked lost for words , but unlike listening to us. She nodded her head. ” Yea, maybe ” she said. Shira rolled her eyes. ” Come on , I shall come lie with you. I am feeling exhausted myself ” she admitted. Anthea finally left and I stayed with the warlocks, helping take care of the injured. After a while, Dataneye pulled me aside . ” Come walk with me ” she asked. Dataneye had this aura about her , it was warm, motherly and you kind of just agreed with her.

It was after five minutes of walking in silence she finally spoke. ” You must be completely honest with your mate about your past , you know that with the amount of dark magic you used your coven will have sensed you. They may come , and after the tragedy this pack has just faced. It is for the best if you are honest. At least that way they can be prepared. ” I looked at her in shock. How did she know anything about my past ?
