It would take too much magic to get absolutely everyone there through transportation. And we all had to be careful not to be seen leaving by any of the covens’ dark witches. It was Anthea who said she could create a portal like the one she had done before to get Rykens’ big dragon back. But we had to get everyone in one place , where they could see , for everyone to then step through the portal. She was relying on her babies’ magic for this , now that she didn’t have Sianna’s full magic anymore. It felt like dejavu , a nightmare we were reliving again and again , to turn upon the borders of an enemy’s land. It felt like we were stuck on a cycle of fight after fight, just to be able to live.

I felt a notion of queasiness as I stepped through the portal Anthea had created. Enzo had called an emergency meeting in the training hall. That would be our cover if anyone was watching. Who ever came into the hall was the ones that we would take with us. Besides the inner circle, as I was now referring to it as , there were a few extra dragons from Rykens thunder. The ones found at the battle with Yianna had stuck around. They had no thunder of their own and I had no doubt they would be joining Rykens at some stage. And twenty-five wolves , we couldn’t bring the whole pack , even if Enzo would have liked it that way. But if we started shipping the whole pack out, s**t would become suspicious for maybe watchers.

We landed further away than we had for any of the others, the prospect of being sensed by these dead witches and alerting the coven was too great of a risk to be closer. As soon as everyone was through, we landed in the hotter climate. The dragons were getting ready to take off , well, some of them. But before they did, Penny flung herself into my arms. Even in Devon’s body, the big bulk of weight and the speed she through herself at me made me stuble back a few steps before I gained balance and held her in my arms. ” It will all be OK , remenber what Ryken said. His dragon will protect you “, I whispered to her. She pulled back, nodding ” Be careful , I just got you back ” she murmured, and I smiled at her. ” I am not planning on going anywhere. Go on “. I lifted my chin in the direction of the four dragons waiting for her. Once she turned to them , they all looked at her with respect , which made my heart warm. She was their leader’s mate. I knew she would be in good hands. They took off running to find higher ground so they could change into their magical animal counterparts if needed.

After I watched her go, I looked to see the groups were already separating. Those that were coming and those that weren’t. I looked at Anthea to see she was holding her stomach. Tears ran down her face. Worry crashed over me and I made my way to her. ” Anthea, what is wrong ? “I asked her gently , Enzo was already at her side trying to comfort her. ” It isn’t me, it’s the babies , they are pushing their emotions out on me and they feel sad that your going in there without them ” she sniffed. I looked down at her belly and back up to her. ” Really ? ” I asked and she nodded. ” It’s like they have this need to protect you , and the fact they can’t is resulting in this ” she waved at her face and sniffed again.

Raising my hand, I stroked her belly. ” I will be fine little ones ” I whispered. She grabbed my hand and held it against her belly when I was about to pull it away. “They’re making me feel something wait ” she whispered as she concentrated. ” Cautious , I think they are trying to tell me to tell you to be cautious. And to take this ” her hands opened up and appeared the report from the council. She had let my hands go to bring the report and I took it off of her. ” Those babies are not even the size of an orange yet and they hold so much wisdom “, I said in awe and she smiled , but I could tell she was freaked out by it too. What would they become ? If they were already so strong minded and powerful. Whatever their connection was to me , I want to find out why. But that would have to wait for another time.

Turning around gripping the report , I looked at the group we would be taking and I let the shift go over my body so I no longer looked like Devon. And instead, I looked like a random woman I had once seen when me and Rion were running. She had been kind to us and let us hide in her home for a night and I had thought she was beautiful. Hispanic looks , with long black wavy hair that now ran down my back. Rhiala Wolf whistled when she saw me and Tiffany nudged her ever the possessive wolf , that all wolves were. ” What babe, you can’t say you don’t think that look is hot ” she said to Tiffany , and she glanced over at me and I saw the appreciation in her eyes before she covered it up and huffed , hated to be proven that Rhiala was right. Rhiala laughed and kissed her ” You know I only want you ” she whispered and Tiffany blushed like a school girl before Rhiala sent her over to the other group that would stay here.

Me , Willow , Shira , Usif , Raan , Rhiala and Dataneye would go onto their land. The rest of the warlock women had stayed behind to make sure the spell we had cast to keep the dark witches from reputing theres on the pack, stayed firmly in place. After ensuring Enzo, we would signal the minute we needed them , angry dead witches be dammed. We set off on the hike to get to the coven’s land , Raan in front of us all looking at the map we had gotten of the place. All of this would be for nothing if we had gotten the destination wrong. But I had a feeling we were right. I just wished I could see how Devon was doing , wish I could talk to him. Get his reassurance and his positive energy. I felt the queasiness again and took a deep breath as we walked. I had a feeling it was due to the thing I was still in denial about. Until I saw solid proof that I was actually pregnant , I didn’t think I would believe it.

I wasn’t opposed to having them , it just scared the s**t out of me. And I wanted more time with just me and Devon before we took this step , call it selfish maybe. But if I was then, me and Devon would deal with this together , and all I would have to do to be a half decent mum is do the opposite of what my mum had been. How hard could that be ?

We had walked half an hour before we neared our destination. We had worked out it would take the wolves five minutes to get to us in their shifted forms, running to get to our aid if needed. Raan stopped us. ” It’s time for that spell ladies , my dragon senses people not far from us , so we can only assume it is dark witches patrolling. ” Dataneye , magicked up a bowl and a small blade. ” Hands out ” she told us. And one by one, she made a small cut on our palm and we let the b***d drip into the bowl and mix, then she did her own. I think Dataneye was quickly becoming our little coven leader , she was the mum figure, the one who guided us in our cast. She had wisdom and knowledge none of us had. Well, maybe Anthea did too, having Sianna inside of her . But Sianna trusted Dataneye to take the lead with us, so she did. We have even heard pack memebers say we now have a pack coven , which most packs used to have years and years ago , until lots of Alphas got suspicious having magic users among them, paranoid of what they could do .Stories leaked about pack covens turning against their packs , or alphas not really knowing the coven they let on their lands believeing they were good until they turned out to not be . Some kept them , but they kept having connections to witches under lock and key. There was no such supision from Enzo. Sianna trusted them and that was enough for him.

Dataneye mumbled the spell under her breath , the b***d in the bowl bubbling and smoking as she did. When she opened her eyes she smiled, ” It is done “, she announced. Rhiala comically looked down at her body. ” I don’t feel any different ” she asked, confused, and Dataneye tried to conceal her laugh. ” You won’t dear. The spell just stops our presence being sensed by the living, especially our magic. The dead will still sense us. It won’t stop us being seen or heard though , so we still need to be careful. ” Raan turned back around , ” Let us get going then , all of you stay behind me. Usif take the back , Rhial in the middle. If those things come at us we are the muscles ” . We ended up forming a single line as we slowly started approaching. My heart was beating like crazy. ” To the left ” Usif whispered. Rann signaled us all to squat down. We all stayed silent as we watched a male, dark witch walking past us , none of us daring to even breathe. Once he had gone past, Raan looked back at us. ” We stay here to see how long until the next one goes past , then we know how long we have to talk to the dead OK. Rhiala tell Tiffany to tell Enzo that is what we are doing. They have a patrol on “. I felt envious they shared that link. I would give anything to talk with Devon right now , he knew how to keep me calm.
