” Get the keys s**t is hitting the fan ” I said to Ryken , when I received Enzo’s link saying they had been spotted by a dark witch. He quickly took mine off , then I grabbed the key and took his off. ” We need to get among the rest of them and quickly , I’ll shift and you hop on my back ” Ryken looked at me with Penny’s expression. It clearly stated he didn’t like that idea. Being a dragon , I would imagine he was used to being the one giving the rides out. ” Dude, it’s the quickest way to get you in Penny’s body out of here “, I reminded him and he huffed but nodded his agreement.

Shouting started outside of the cabin. ” That is our cue “, I told him and shifted. He hopped up onto my wolf’s back. My vision turned yellow. And just as we were ready to high tail it out of here, the door opened. Harry stood there fuming , but the fact a wolf was staring back at him momenterily shocked him. I barged at him full pelt using his hesitation to my advantage, and knocked him out of the way. Leaping in the air, I landed on my paws yards away from the house. Witches were taking notice of us now. I couldn’t speak to Ryken but I hoped he could use that magic of Penny’s because we were the mice in a cat den here. I could sense Enzo on his way. But we were surrounded.

I turned my tail around and went to head off to where I could sense our people. Only to feel a magical hold take over my body. It raged its way through my limbs, paralysing them. My balance and steps are faltering. ” Devon hold on “, Penny’s voice rang out above me. But my legs buckled, taking me skidding to the floor. ” s**t ” Penny shouted as her body fell off of my back, landing with a thud on the ground. I tried to stand but it was like everything was numb. ” I got this , hold on ” Ryken hissed as he knelt Penny’s body up and held her hands out. I looked around as much as I was not able to move my head to see dark witches approaching us.

The flames appeared around us like a circle , blaring high into the sky. ” They’re here ” Ryken announced. I heard the tell tell loud screech above us signalling the dragons had arrived. Shifting back so I could talk and hopefully move , but it was hope that was short-lived. My human body that was back in my own form now remained motionless. ” s**t man it’s hot, why flames ? “I tried to make light of it. But Penny’s face appeared before me and shook her head. ” Wasn’t me man , it was Penny. I was trying to put some sort of force field around us. She bet me to it “. Penny’s expression showed proudness. Ryken loved his mate being up there. That much showed.

” Reverse whatever they have done to my body ” I snapped at him. ” I’ll try ” her eyes danced up and down my body,. He reached her hands out to hover over me. ” I don’t know what the f**k I’m doing. I thought this s**t would be easy ” he grumped. Loud growls echoed around us. Then a large thump and the ground shook , the flames died down to be taken over by a large shadow curling itself around us. A large dragon’s head hovered over my body as its wings came around and blocked us off in our own cocoon from everyone. The dragon rubbed it’s big head against Penny’s body. ” Penny, thank f**k ” Ryken huffed and hugged the dragon’s huge head. ” Help guys “, I snapped. A War was literally happening around us. We didn’t have time for that. The dragon looked at me. ” Babe, they paralysed him. How do I stop it ? ” he asked, then g*****d. ” s**t we don’t have the link , we are not mated ” Penny’s voice screeched.

I watched on as Ryken looked around worriedly. ” We need Anthea or . . .” his words cut off in her mouth and Penny’s body froze. “What’s happening ? Ryken ? ” I shouted, worried the dark witches had gotten to them. Penny took a deep breath and looked down at me. ” Ryken, what the hell ? “I asked. But Penny’s head shook. ” Not Ryken , I have swapped us back ” Penny said. The dragon growled, obviously unhappy with it. In his body she was better protected as his dragon. ” Hush and protect us while I do this “, Penny snapped at him. Penny dropped to her knees beside me and placed both palms out over my body like Ryken had done , but she started chanting. Bit by bit I felt my body coming back to life. Until I was able to move again , when I sat up Penny stood up.

“What ever i***t did that just used the generic spell , easy fixed ” she smiled. ” The other are here , the dead wicthes didn’t listen. Be careful “, Penny warned. Before she turned and climbed up onto the big dragon’s wing and scurried up his back to near his head and held onto the ridges on the big beast’s neck. I shifted back to my wolf and waited for the beast to move its wing , then I bolted out. Beyond the barrier of the dragon’s wing was chaos. Wolves flew about everywhere and witches were fighting and casting spells wherever I looked.

But my eyes were trying to find one person , and when they landed on her my wolf leaped us forward. Violet was doing something with her hands and when I looked in the direction she was looking in , I saw her trying to fight off something from Tanya. Bounding up to her , she didn’t stop to look at me. ” Devon, they’re all linking up , we won’t win this if they do. They are still drawing magic off of the dead witches “. I looked to see Anthea in her wolf form , but she was on the floor yelping Enzo at the side of her doing the same. Harry had a manic smile hovering above them. Looking up, the dragons kept flying towards us but it looked like they couldn’t get near , like something stopped them. The only dragon near was Ryken, who was flying lowly in circles. Like a fly trapped in a glass and unable to get out.

It wasn’t supposed to be like this , we were a strong unit and right now they were beating us. Dark witches started to create a large circle around us. All of them chanting with their palms up , the scene was freaky. I looked to see some standing back guarding the cabin. I knew that prick was in. ” Devon ” Violet gasped , her face full of pain. Ryken screeched above. An idea hit , quickly shifting. I looked up at him. ” RYKEN TORCH IT ” I shouted. The big beast’s head turned and looked our way , so I pointed at the cabin. Tanya looked to see where I was, pointing ” NOOO ” she shouted , and dropped her hands. “TANYA ” Harry shouted , and the yelping from Anthea and Enzo calmed.

Tanya’s fear made her drop the connection between them all , and she went running toward the cabin. Anthea shifted in the distraction and she flung her hands out. Dark witches from the circle flew into the air like rag dolls. A flash of amber light came from the air , I span my body back to watch the massive ball of flames that came from Rykens dragon’s mouth and flames fell onto the cabin below where Wallace was. The cabin went up in flames and Tanya was screaming as she dropped to her knees watching the flames engulf it.

” We need to get out of here ” Shira shouted. Tanya’s screaming turned into screeches. As she stood herself back up and her head looked up at the sky where Ryken was still flying around. Her hand shot up and it was like she had just shot him , the big dragon shrieked in pain. ” Ryken ” Penny shouted before she started screaming, as the beast started flapping around funnily , not keeping his balance he started swirling around freely making strange sounds. ” Penny ” Violet shouted as she fell off of his back and started free falling from the sky.

I took off running to the spot she was falling. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Rhiala doing the same, followed by a wolf I recognized as Tiffany. Anthea appeared at the spot out of knowhere. She was looking up. She lifted her hands and Penny’s fall started to slow down in speed. I huffed a sigh of relief as she landed safely on her feet thanks to Anthea , we wouldn’t have made it in time even with our best efforts. ” Move ” Rhiala shouted at me, looking up. ” He’s coming down ” she screeched. I looked up to see the dragon’s big body falling directly above my head. I leaped out of the way just barely before it thudded to the ground shaking it with its weight.

As I went to go check on him, pain engulfed me. Looking back, I saw Tanya heading towards me. Her face contorted to one I didn’t recognize , she looked like a mad woman. ” YOU KILLED HIM , YOU f*****g KILLED HIM “. The war had started again around us, everyone fighting. Screams of pain and crying rang through the air. ” SHIFT MUTT , SHIFT AND SHOW ME YOUR FACE ” Tanya shouted. Unwillingly, my body started to shift , my human skin started peaking through the fur as I changed back. I was panting on my knees before I knew it , and she was sneering my way. ” Her mate , I should have known. You can all beat us. We have the magic of the slaughtered coven ” she snapped. My muscles felt tense as they contracted against the pain. ” You mean the coven you killed , the coven you had slaughtered to be able to channel the dark energies it would create ” I managed to grit out between clenched teeth. Her face faltered slightly , her steps slowed before she laughed it off , it sounded fake to my ears. ” Are you all into making up stories now too ? They hate your kind. Your kind killed them. It is why they grant us the gift of their magic, it is why they will help us kill you all. Killing my son was a big mistake for you “, she snapped in my direction. Fighting magic users f*****g sucked , it wasn’t a fare fight if it was they’d all be dead already.
