” Excuse me ” I said through gritted teeth. I know this wasn’t an earth-shattering bomb dropped just solely on my life. But if I didn’t get out of here now. I think I was about to rip that d**k’s head off. And he’s gifted. How he’s gifted I don’t know. So it would most likely be a death sentence. ” Mum, I will be back for dinner , I just. I need , well. Well, I just have something I need to do.” Getting up, I looked down at Anthea . Did he need me to get her out of here too ? Would she feel I was abandoning her ?

How could I ask her without exposing us and adding a whole other layer to the s**t show , she was currently the star of. ” I can do this alone , you know what I asked you to do earlier , if you want to stay here and sort all of this out ” smooth , real f*****g smooth. She swallowed and looked around the room. ” No. I’ll come. Sorry to bail , but I promised I would help ” she said, jumping up off of the sofa.

” Anthea , don’t you think that this is more important? I mean, if all of this is true , you’re meant to be gifted. Shouldn’t you be figuring that out right now ?” Peter asked her. She shook her head at him. ” Meant to be , as in I’m not now “. She grabbed my hand and looked up at me , then caught herself and pulled it out of my hand. I snatched her hand back and walked out. My dad shouted at me to be back for dinner. We ran like someone was chasing us. Like we were under attack. By what ? The truth ? I knew what I was running from, the knowledge that she could not be mine. Jealousy ate at me. What a f*****g hypocrite. All week the plan was to mate another break our bond. Now , all I could think about was losing her.

We ran until we reached the woods. I would have taken her to our cave. But that place now felt tarnished thanks to Tiffany. I didn’t waste a second , I pushed her up against a tree and slammed my lips down on hers. She kissed me back with just as much need as I had. Her finger nails clawed at my arms , she was pushing her body up against mine. She took her leg up and hooked it around my h*p. ” f*****g beautiful “, I growled against her mouth. She pulled back and looked at me. “What does all of this mean, Enzo ?” I started kissing her neck over her mating mark spot.

” I don’t know baby ” I said, nibbling at her neck. ” That feels amazing ” she sighed. I had a fleeting idea , that I just mark her here and now. We have s*x against this tree and just do it , get rid of all this drama. Once we were mated, that was it. She would be mine. I would be hers and then Tiffany had nothing on us and this new guy could f**k off. But my consiounce set in. I had been nothing but a d**k with her really. She looked at me through hooded eyelids, so trusting of me. Sighing, I stepped back from her. Rubbing the back of my neck , I looked around us. So, caught up earlier, I hadn’t even paid attention to whether there was anyone around. Luckily, there wasn’t because I was about to do the most unselfish thing I had ever done. “Then why did you stop ?” she says, sounding concerned. See, even now, her world was being turned upside down and she was asking how I was. ” All of this means you now have a choice, Anthea. ” Looking up, she had that cute crease between her brows. ” Them coming here ,telling you everything gives you a choice. You heard him , you are supposed to be some powerful gifted wolf. No more people hiding you. No more people taking advantage or looking down on you. And you have a choice of a mate now “.

She shakes her head. ” No you are my mate ” , stepping forward, I grab her hands and bring them to my mouth, kissing them. ” I am , I have been a shitty one though. But he and his wolf belong to your wolf. So, technically, you could mate with him too. Somehow, get your wolf magic back and you could have this whole other life. ” She looks at me , her eyes narrow. ” Is this your next plan to break our bond , now that his sister is off limits ? “

” What no , it’s not that at all. Anthea, before we got interrupted earlier, I wanted to confess something to you. But I feel now isn’t the time. But this has nothing to do with breaking the bond. Anthea , this is about you and you finding out who you are “, stepping back into her. I pulled her leg back up on my h*p. ” I’m not sure I want to be a badass, I mean me a warrior , the leader of some pack. I can’t even stick up for myself when a girl is pushing my face in the mud. This is all kind of a lot to digest ” she says back. She closes her eyes “. She’s screaming at me though. She’s telling me we need to get her magic back. That she chose me , the day I was born prematurely she knew I would be for her. She’s been telling me since I first turned that I was special and I hadn’t believed her, ” she admits.

” I have a house you can use ” she tilts her head. “Why would you have a house when you obviously still live in the pack house ?” I laughed at her. ” I said I have a house , not my house. Mum and dad’s retirement house is being done for renovation. You can stay there. We will tell people you are cleaning it ready for them to move in if anyone asks. “

” Would they let me ? ” shrugging ” Sure dad likes you, I cant see why not “. She leans up and k****s me softly. ” I can’t see myself ever wanting anyone else but you “, something primal heats up inside of me, but I dampen it down. Anthea was about to be a whole other person , if her wolf is screaming at her t get her magic back and the fates sent her back. Then there must be a way. This Anthea now wants me. Ironic really on how much the tables had turned. Stepping back, I grabbed her hand. ” Lets go back, but before we do. What do you want to do regarding us ? Keep our mating situation a secret , or tell that guy and my parents the truth? I mean , I know this has all just done three sixty and changed. But I don’t mind either way. I should have claimed her last week before the knowledge of all of this and I didn’t have to do the decent thing.
