Chapter 55

Anthea had been missing all day and pretty much all night with Rion. I was jumping out of my skin. But I said I would try to f*****g trust her. I kept searching for our bond , constantly f*****g searching for it. And every time I did, she came up feeling OK. Sometimes she felt a little sad. But not like I’m in danger sad or anything. More like pity. I had gone to meet Shira , and even asked her if she could check in on her. The image she conjured up was that wolves had just laid in the sun, and under the moonlight. It looked like they were sleeping. And even that made me f*****g rage , with jealousy. So , when she did that summoning thing the next morning , this time I was f*****g relieved. It felt like she was calling me to the waterfall where we were supposed to go yesterday. Rushing out of the house , I saw Shira. She was standing waiting for me. A bit creepy , but then it clicked.

” Are you going where I am going ? “she nodded , with a smile. ” A ride would be much appreciated” she said, a little excited. ” Can’t you just poof yourself there ? “I asked. She nods ” Yep , just like I did here. But I like riding wolf’s back ” she winked and laughed at her own joke. ” Funny , but I’m not a horse. ” she kept laughing and shrugged , then just looked at me expectingly. ” Fine , but don’t make a habit “. We went around the back of the house. I made quick work of shifting. I wanted to get to Anthea. So , I wasn’t about to m**n too much when she hopped on , I just took off instead.

When we got there, Anthea was pacing back and forth inside of the waterfall. When we came in, she looked up at us with relief , she went to speak but I raised my hand to stop her. ” Wait a minute “, I asked her. . I couldn’t help but notice she was butt naked. I mean, it was regular for us wolves just like I was now. But this seemed important and her nakedness was very distracting. ” Shira , do you think you could ? “I asked her, sounding pained to my own ears. I pointed between us. Shira just smirked but snapped her fingers and, thank the lord, her nakedness was covered. But still before she could speak , I rushed to her and wrapped her up in my arms. ” s**t , I have been going f*****g crazy “, I g*****d against her head as I inhaled the smell of her hair. ” I’m sorry , but once I explain you’ll understand “. She pushed back off of me and looked between us both.

” Sianna rejected Rion ” she rushed out and I think at that moment we could have all heard a pin drop , if not for the water gushing behind us. I started to feel joy creep up on me , but it was quickly stomped out when she shook her head. ” It didn’t work , well it felt like it did . I felt her pain , this huge searing pain, and saw his. But then I noticed this connection to him was still there inside of me. It didn’t work , it didn’t break the connection “. She looked between us both like we should be working this out. I looked at Shira and her expression looked as confused as I felt.

” It didn’t work when I tried to reject you either , so is it the same as that ? ” she shook her head. ” No, when you tried , nothing happened. Not one thing. And she also says the fates stopped you breaking ours because you’re a jackass who just needed to wake up. ” She looks at me apologetic and I held my hands up, letting out a laugh. ” All true ” I agreed.

” She said she never experienced what she feels our mate bond to be , nothing like it. Then, when she tried to break the mate bond with Rion, the pain she felt. She said she had felt that kind of pain before “. She looked at Shira. Shira tipped her head ” When she had her magic removed from her ?” Anthea nodded at her , to say she was right. Me, on the other hand , I still wasn’t following. ” So she thinks the mate bond is magic with Rion ?” Shira asks her and Anthea nods again.

” Wait hold up , can you explain this in a dumb version ” I asked them. Anthea grabbed my hand and pulled me so that we would all go sit down. ” Sianna said that she at one time suspected Rion to be involved in what was happening to her , she said she cast a spell on his b***d like she had done her own , looking for dark magic. Read his mind while he slept for something off , but nothing. He believed they were mates from the day they met. Sianna only went back that far. Nothing. She found nothing untoward, so she took him off her suspect list. What if he doesn’t have anything to do with it? unknowingly at least “.

Shira was nodding , but I have got to be honest, I was still lost. So were they mates or not ? Is he the bad guy or not ?

” But why would she feel the pain she felt when she tried to break the bond ? “Shira asked. ” Sianna thinks it wasn’t a fated mating bond she felt the pain from. She thinks maybe the things that were chasing them, the warlocks or the dark shadows we both saw got to him before she did that day in the barn. Created a spell to make it feel like a mating connection. So they mate bonded , but not as a fated pair as a bonded pair. When Sianna rejected him , the bond broke but the spell that attracted them to each other , the low buzz I had felt since meeting him, was still there. The spell didn’t break, so whoever is behind all of this got to Rion. At some point they must have “, she looked excited.

” Wait ” I said, getting up and started to pace myself. I was too hyped to sit. If this was all right , then nothing would stop me and Anthea from mating. They both looked up at me , waiting for me to speak. ” I went snooping yesterday when I was in Rions’ house , and found nothing until I went up into his loft. Loads of Sianna’s s**t in boxes and then a box with his diaries in it. I have them at our place , he noted everything while they were on the run. And then the day he met Sianna , he said they’d had to stop. Violet was exhausted , she was using her dark magic too much and he feared what was chasing them was close. Then nothing. No further diary logs from the day he met her. I found it odd that why would he just stop ? But also what I found odd was that Violet had the same dreams or premonitions, whatever they are, as you. And Sianna. He wrote it in his diary , the dark shadowy figures surrounded by fire . Why would he not tell us she had them too ? “

They both looked at each other, it was like we were finally f*****g getting somewhere. Shira stood up , her hand on her chin , she started hard at the floor in concentration as she slowly walked back and forth. ” Why is whoever this is trick sienna and Rion into bond mating though ? What is there angle there? Did he write it was the warlocks chasing them ? ” she mused. I nodded “. He also wrote that a witch had told them of Sianna , it read like they had never heard of her until then. The witch told them to send a message to Sianna asking for help. ” I answered her.

Then another thought popped up. ” The story too , the story he told us about the warlocks. He missed s**t out. s**t , we need those diaries ” Shira laughed ” Where did you hide them ?” I told her under the bed and she closed her eyes, placed her hands out palms up and started this chant that I understood no words of. A few seconds later, in her hands appeared all of his diaries. She grinned and handed them to me , and I picked out the one I had seen it in and put the rest down. Flicking through the pages , I pulled up the entry. That spoke of the female warlocks and the two warlock princesses.

As Shira and Athea read it , I saw Shira’s brow crease. ” I have never heard of this , that the females born to warlocks had magic. Nor have I heard of a*********s about the warlock king dying. It would help if he had named these witches. Maybe we could have sought them out and asked more questions ” she said.

” I doubt he will want to see me now. I mean Sianna just broke his heart. He was pleading with her not to do it. Then we just left him there. Sianna also thinks he will have no clue about any of this. That’s why all his thoughts came up clean. As far as he thinks , their mating was a fated mating. Sianna is baffled as to why the fates wouldn’t have said anything though. Sent a message , but then again. They do not control who chooses to bond mate with another. But , still. The last thing she knew and the reason why she left the first time was because the fates or the mood goddess could not see a clear path. How or who could block their sights ? Block them from warning her this wasn’t real. Surely the fates should know Rion was;t her fated , I mean they would have sent him to her. But nothing has been said otherwise to what she has always believed “.

It felt like we had taken ten steps closer , but still had no real clue as to what was happening or why. But I just needed to clear one thing up for certain. Turning to Anthea, I grabbed her chin so she looked at me. ” So let me just make sure I am right on this “. I felt my wolf flashing in my eyes at the thought. She grinned up at me like she knew what was coming. ” Rion is not your mate ? ” She shook her head no. ” But before you realized that you and Sianna had chosen me as your mate ? That’s why she was rejecting Rion ? “

Anthea bit her l*p , a quick warning growl had her releasing it though. ” Techically , I have always chosen you. But Sianna made the final call all on her own without me. We have both chosen you. ” I sucked in a deep breath trying to keep myself in check. I let it out, slowly closing my eyes , to stop myself from grabbing her and f*****g ending this in front of our audience. “And the bond you feel is a fake one ? Just some trickery done by a spell ?” She nods , and this time I have to bite my l*p. ” Shira , I know we have a lot to figure out. But could we maybe reschedule this meeting for maybe tomorrow? I have a feeling we will be busy for the next twenty-four hours ish ” I didn’t even turn to look at Shira . My sole attention right now was hers. ” Sure I am going to take these diaries and study up on a few things , I shall leave you guys some supplies ” she laughed. I just waved a hand up at her, still without looking , she could take what the f**k she wanted right now. When I felt she had gone , I stopped holding back.
