” They did something last night ” snapped Firya as she stormed into my room. I looked up in the mirror and at her through the reflections she stomped back and forth. Being back here got to her more than it did me. To me, it is just a place now. Not who I am anymore. The fact they found our old diary, which was supposedly disposed of. When we left this place we wiped all or any evidence of ourselves , or so I had thought. Obviously, Firya had kept and hidden that. I watched as she fumed , my mood calm.

” I woke up feeling like I had woken from the dead , remnants of magic still zipping through my system and mind. Those fuckers put a spell on us ” she spat. After I didn’t answer, she turned and looked at me. Her gaze roamed my calm features. ” Why are you not saying anything ? Did you hear anything I just said ? ” she snaps at me. I nodded, staring at my reflection at the face I had known for so long. Beautiful. It was another reason I had chosen her. I felt more upset about the fact I had to leave her behind than I did my own body. Lifting her fingers up , I ran them down her cheek and under her eye.

“Yianna, I am talking to you ” she screeches. I rolled her eyes and stood up. Turning around, I looked at her. ” I can obviously hear you. If I had not spelled this room then the whole castle would have heard you ” I hissed in her direction. ” Why are you acting so calm , they spelled us to keep us asleep. Just us and our mates , that means they are on to both of us , not just you anymore. They have to have pretty much figured this out. All of our work is disappearing down the f*****g drain and you just stood acting like , I don’t know like f*****g that ” she waves her hand in my direction.

” Calm down sister , how many times do I have to say that you are an embarrassment? Over reacting is not the sign of someone who knows their worth and power “. Her eyes near on bulge out of her head. The fact I had to degrade myself yesterday by public frolicking annoys me. Just to try and trick them into believing our story. This was our problem ,all this time we had been playing safe , hiding. Just like in that book. I didn’t escape being a shadow , to become another. I had always had a back-up plan , one I hadn’t wanted to use unless I needed to. Well , now I do.

” The witch has recently started to fight me for this body. Something had sparked her to wake. She weakens me “, I finally admitted to Firya. She freezes her breath, almost stopping. ” But why ? ” Why haven’t you said your strength is decreasing ? ” she asks. I stop looking at her face and meet my sister’s gaze in the mirror again. ” The same reason you have not said , we were never allowed to show weakness or sadness. Even from each other , identical twins who shared the womb. We will not be vulnerable to one another. Sad really ” I, shrugged and looked back around properly. ” Either way, I also took one of father’s other lessons. Well, not a lesson , more like an observation. While you scurried for his love and affection , that you were never going to receive. I studied the man. He always had a back up plan , no matter what scheme or what destruction he was planning. There was a back-up plan. I guess he just never foresaw the quiet daughter he thought was shy and quiet , was actually just quiet and smart. That she would keep her plans for freedom in her chest and away from everyone. That she also kept her plan to end him so quiet that he never even suspected it. Therefore, he had no back up plan to protect himself from his own b***d. “

I grinned maliciously. ” Yianna, what is it you plan to do ? ” she asked. I studied my sister , the one I should feel so much love for. But I just saw her as another thing that could stop me getting what I wanted. So much like father , impulsively. ” Well Firya , I studied this ancient book. I found it in our father’s studies. He did not just wish to put all of our women in the state, he did. He planned to use their magic too. Pull it out just like Sianna did and consume it. I heard him talking of how he thought that we somehow stole the power he was meant to have. That when we hit of age and our magic was at its strongest. He would take it back. But we didn’t fall like the rest. I didn’t need to wonder how Sianna managed to take her magic out , I had that knowledge all along. I also had the spell, maybe not the exact one she used. But I had one that would do the same. So I kept a back-up plan. I kept people close that I could use. If for whatever reason, I couldn’t get hers. I chose a strong witch , one stronger than my other half chose. I also leant the entombing spell that was cast on the other women. I learned that we could also funnel their essence into ourselves. Like absorbing their magic. I had a lot of time while stuck on that island to create my back-up plan “. I felt an evil smile spread across my lips.

Her eyes widened as the realization hit her of just what I meant. Her hands flew up , but I was quicker. I blocked her magic , freezing her to the spot. Her body was still , but her eyes still moved and tracked me as I walked towards her. ” Do not threat sister. Just know that I carry you with me. I plan to go back into my original body. Opening the door to the room I had chosen , it belonged to the one woman father actually treated with a margin of decency. It wasn’t our mother , nope. It all felt like lost time now. Wasted and ruined all because of Anthea and her f*****g mate along with Shira. The walls were closing in. Going to the centre of the room , my sister’s body was floating behind me. I smile as I sense their excitment that we were here.
