Chapter 87

Paris’ POV

We know the location of Mikhail’s brother and his Castle. We will have to get there soon before the messenger can reach him. We run all day. We know the messenger will go at night and can only move at night, but then again, vampires are faster than we are. We reach the Castle without any hiccups and walk over to it. We do not know his name, but we are sure the wolves around here know it. They have agreed to meet us here. We wait on the mountain outside the Castle grounds. It does not take long for a pack of wolves to show up.

“King, Queen, it is a pleasure to meet you at last,” The Alpha of the pack says.

“Hi, Aplha, so can you tell us a little more about what is happening here?” I ask.

“Well, the vampires are not bothering us, but the humans suffer from them, and we do not like it. As you know, we are supposed to protect humans. I wouldn’t say I like that we can not protect them, and it is not good for us to lose so many humans. The human population in this area is going down fast, and the Duke, Dennis, has turned off his humanity and has no soul left. He is cruel, but we think it is because he does not want to be a vampire and feels guilty for becoming the monster he is. He does not want to feel remorse. Maybe if we can get him to have no choice but to bring back his humanity, he will change back to what he was before he became a vampire. Our forefathers told us about the Duke when he was still human and what a great man he was. He hates his brother for turning him into a monster. He was dying on the battlefield, and his brother found him there while he was dying that night. He promised to save his life and turn his brother into a vampire. That is how the stories go and what we know,” The Alpha answers me. I turn to Cadilla.

“If he is not bad at heart but only turned off his humanity, can we save him with the tattoo?” I ask Cadilla.

“I do not know if it will work, but we can try. We need to start the chant and get close to the Castle. We will find out if it works, but we will need more gypsies as there are only a few, and I do not know if we will be strong enough to do so many vampires at once,” Cadilla says.

“We have gypsies and a few magical wolves with us if that will help,” The Alpha says.

“Oh please, bring them to us,” Walker says. He and the Alpha walk away and talk a little.

“We need those gypsies and magical wolves here as soon as possible. His brother is sending a messenger to ask him for help against us,” I hear Walker say to the Alpha.

“No problem, I will go get them. We will be back in a few hours, but before dark,” The Alpha says. The Alpha runs away, and we wait a few hours. He returns with a hell of a lot of gypsies. I can see Cadilla is excited as she looks at the gypsies. Most are old, but we can all feel they are strong magical creatures.

“I hope it is enough. They are tired of the vampires that also started attacking their villages, and their magic can only hold out that many vampires. They are tired of being terrorized by the vampires. So they are here to help,” The Alpha says. The gypsies start to walk closer to the Castle. We are protecting them as they take hands and surround the Castle. They start chanting with the help of Cadilla and Miriam. I can hear the vampires start screaming and moaning in the Castle.

“Stop it!” One scream. The gypsies do not let them break their concentration, and they keep chanting. Some vampires scramble outside on fire and turn to dust. Most stay inside the Castle and m**n until the gypsies stop chanting.

“It is done,” Cadilla says, and it is still daylight.

“Those of you that are still alive can come outside. The sun will do you nothing,” I say. Some come out cautiously. After a while, they stand in the sun in disbelief. We hear a loud voice.

“Let me out!” The voice says, and the vampires make way for a man. He looks as if he does not believe what is happening to him. He walks into the sunlight and looks around in disbelief like most other vampires.

“Who did this? Who do I owe my gratitude to?” He asks.

“Duke Dennis, you owe it to the King and Queen of werewolves and to the gypsies that helped them,” The Alpha says.

“So you are not here to kill us?” He asks.

“No, we are here to help you. Your bond with your brother has been broken, and you will not die if he dies,” Walker says.

“You look young, Wolf. How can you be a king, and why would you help me?” Dennis asks. Walker smiles.

“I may be young, but I am not a typical royal like those you know. Like my Queen, we are warriors, but we like to save creatures rather than kill them,” Walker answers.

“I owe you my life. Why did you do this for us?” Dennis asks.

“We know as a human you were not an evil human, unlike your brother, Mikhail,” I say.

“I hate that bloody bastard who turned me into a monster. I feel like I have lost my soul for so long, and I have regrets,” Dennis says, and it looks like he can cry.

“You can compensate for all the bad things by helping us,” I say.

“I will do anything to redeem myself and be able to face humanity again,” Dennis says.

“Well, your brother is sending you a messenger to come and help him. He thinks you are still bonded to him and will come to help him,” Walker says.

“I will not go and help him! I hate him!” Dennis says.

“No, we want you to go and help him,” I say with a sinister smile. He gets what I want him to do.

“I get it, my Queen. You saved me from me, and I will help you to defeat my brother. I know he has a lot of other friends that are on their way there. They are some of the evil vampires in the East and Africa. They are different from our vampires, and there are good ones that do not want to fight for him, but like me, they think they have to, as he is the reason they are living. We will be too late to stop them and will not be in time as they are already near his Castle. I know I got word from one of my African friends that they did not go and do not want to fight with him. He said he would rather die than be near Mikhail. He said that some stayed behind. They refuse to fight for him,” Dennis says.

“I will contact the shamans in Africa and let them help those vampires,” Cadilla says.

“You know someone there?” I ask.

“Yes, most of them are traditional doctors and witch doctors. Some are bad, and some are good. I know some good ones,” Cadilla says. She gets on her phone and talks in a language we don’t know. While she is busy, we discuss our plans with Dennis. Dennis can not wait to pay his brother back, and he and his vampires, who are not dead, hide their tattoos underneath the uniforms they decide to wear. They know Mikhail can never see those tattoos, or he will know something is wrong.

“Can the gypsies not hide our tattoos until after the war with Mikhail?” Dennis asks.

“I can ask Cadilla,” I say, but I am unsure. I want a way, and I pray there is a way. All our friends are ready, and we are prepared to attack Mikhail and end him and his nasty followers forever, but we know we will have to be careful. We have one chance to kill him, and we know if we do not kill him this time, he will get away and start this war all over again. I do not want that to happen. We can not let him get away and create a whole new coven of evil vampires. We also do not want them to get a way to walk in the sun without the tattoo and daylight rings that can wipe them out if they are evil. We know the evil witches and other magical creatures will have a way to help him if it comes to that.

“We have to make sure he does not trust witches and gypsies. We know all creatures have those that are evil,” Walker says.

“I agree. I know my brother. He is very superstitious and does not trust magical creatures. We need to keep it that way,” Dennis says. We know we can trust Dennis as he did not turn to dust, which means he is not an evil creature. We tell him about Luca and the tunnels. Dennis starts laughing.

“I imagine my brother thinking it is witches or ghosts running through his Castle and killing his men. I do not think he will think it is ghosts, but once I am there, I can convince him it must be witches that have a grudge against him. It will make him trust the witches less, and he will still be afraid of magical creatures, so even if the black magic magical creatures want to help him, he will not be able to trust them,” Dennis says.

“We need to go. We do not want the messenger to come here and tell Mikhail we were here. I will ask Cadilla if they can hide the tattoos, but if they can not, keep on your uniforms and ensure he never sees them,” I say.

“We will do so, Queen. You and the King saved us, and we will help you save the world from Mikhail. We still have a few hours before the sun sets. Can you tell us what my brother was planning,” Dennis asks. We tell him about the dogmen and the human army his brother was using, and he looks disgusted.

“Tipical, my brother! I am not like him. I did turn off my human feelings and regret it, but I did it because I did not want to be the monster he made me into. Well, it is almost sunset. You better go. How do I contact you?” Dennis asks. We give him our cell phone numbers, and he nods. He will make a plan if he needs to get away from his brother to talk to us. His men are also ready to mingle and speak to Mikhail’s vampires if necessary. We came here to kill an evil vampire and make friends. I am happy about it. I wouldn’t say I like to kill. I want to have friends rather than enemies. I am glad we called in the help of the gypsies and gave them a daylight tattoo. His brother is sending a messenger to come and get help, and now he is getting “help,” but he does not know that he is allowing a bigger enemy than us into his Castle.

“We will have another ally in the enemy camp, and I am happy about that,” Walker says. I smile. We can only thank the Moon Goddess for helping us. She has given us a formidable army to fight our enemy with. Even if he gets a bunch of new vampires to fight with, we will now have two allies in his Castle that can help us. We wait to see if the messenger reaches Dennis’ Castle. We know he and his men will pretend they can only live and travel in darkness. I smile as I think of what a surprise Mikhail will get the day we fight him, his vampires, and his human soldiers.
