Rejected, Broken And Forgotten -
Chapter 95
Luca’s POV
It is all done. All the bitterness is out of my system, and my hatred for my father and mother died with them. I can not believe it is finally all over. The vampires want me to become their King. They are sick of the vampire Dukes and wish to become a Kingdom like the werewolves have. We own the land around the Castle and can start a Kingdom here. I know evil creatures and vampires will still threaten the new werewolf and vampire kingdoms, but we will work together to eliminate them as they attack us. We need to become more aware of them and ensure there are no more stories on the internet about creatures that can make our lives more difficult. The dogmen stories have not stopped yet, and we think there may still be a few on the loose, but we will clean up the mess. We must concentrate on rebuilding the Castle and making it modern. We can now open the windows as we no longer fear the sun. We can walk in the sun again, thanks to the gypsies. They allowed us to walk in the sun again, and we will forever be in their debt. I look at my tattoo. It is a beautiful tattoo of the sun.
We can start a business and make money for the coven. I have decided to take the position of the King of Vampires as I want to ensure that our future generations will never forget what we are and that we are not evil anymore. I know I am taking on a great task, but I will make it work and make us all come together to work for our new Kingdom. Paris and Walker will help us and ensure the two kingdoms work together. I trust them as they have shown us that we can all live in harmony and fight together. I want to be a warrior king like Paris, and Walker are warriors while still ruling their Kingdom. Like the kings and queens of old, they fought with their people. They are not cowards like my father was. I admire the way they look after their people, and I want to be like them. I know there will be a lot of hybrids among us, and they can choose where they want to live.
The day has broken, and Mikhail is dead. I walk outside, and the vampires cheer. I know they are hoping I will tell them I am ready to be King of vampires. I walk to the front of the Castle and first want to remove all my father’s belongings. I look at my people looking back at me with high expectations. I hold up my hand, and they all go quiet. The werewolves are camping near the Castle with the other creatures.
“I will become your King, but we must get rid of everything in the Castle and get modern furniture. We also need to clean this Castle, as I want nothing inside that will remind us of Michail. We will start a business to make money for the vampire Kingdom, look after ourselves, and become independent. We’ll make farms and grow food for the towns around us. We will help humans, and the werewolves are now our friends,” I say. The vampires start to cheer. That is what they want. Many have grown up with humans as their friends and do not want to harm humans. They want the werewolves as their friends. Dennis, Kristina, and Roman are standing with me outside.
“My family and I will work hard for you and bring prosperity to the vampire Kingdom. You can decide what jobs you want to do. It is up to you to come and tell one of us what kind of job you want, and we will see what we can do for you,” I say. I know many vampires used to work the night shift to earn money in the towns, but now that we can walk during the day, they can take any job.
“Can we start cleaning the Castle today? We want nothing of Mikhail in there. Besides, most of us have money. We can help to change the Castle as we want it,” One of the vampires says.
“We have more than enough money. We can also use Mikhail’s money since he will not need it anymore,” I say. The vampires start getting to work. We helped them clean out the Castle and remove everything Mikhail touched. We begin cleaning the Castle, and the werewolves and gypsies come to help us. Soon the Castle looks sparkling clean, and we come across tons of gold and gold coins my father had collected over the decades when he was Duke of the vampires. We can use it to start building our Kingdom and the farms. My uncle and aunt want to stay with us, but their Castle is to the north of us, and he gives us his land to combine with that of our Kingdom, making our Kingdom even bigger. He is excited about starting to help build the Kingdom.
The next few weeks are hectic as we build and bring new furniture we bought in town. We are building houses for the vampires to stay with their families and have privacy. We also build barracks where the young vampires that do not have mates can stay. We build a school for the children and a park where they can play. We put fences around our place to make sure no one with bad intentions comes to visit us. Even the hunters are helping us, and I am glad we no longer have them as enemies. We have many friends now and very few enemies.
Our Kingdom is on its way, and the werewolves, hunters, and gypsies leave to return to their places and help their people. It is like the world can feel the change and sighs in relief. I am glad that my father is dead and that the evilest creature I have known will never walk this earth again. I am proud of what we have done so far for the Kingdom, and everything looks perfect. We have accomplished a lot in a few weeks. We will miss our friends who helped us, but we know they will always be close to us and only a call away if we need help. Mariana is my mate, and I love her with everything inside me. It is good to have someone with you that you can treasure forever. It feels good to have feelings again. Wayne and Kristina have moved into their own home, and she is expecting their first child.
Roman and Cadilla are staying with me in the Castle as it is big enough for all of us. They enjoy decorating the Castle, and I am glad I do not have to do it as I am not as artistic as they are. The windows of the Castle are bigger now as we took out all the small windows and put larger windows in. I love that the Castle is not as dark anymore. I left the tunnels and secret doors where they were. One never knows when you might need them again. Dennis and Amelia are also staying in the Castle as Dennis has good childhood memories of the Castle. Unlike us, he had a loving mother and father. My grandparents were great people.
We took off all the portraits of our ancestors and put some of Cadilla’s and Roman’s art in the hallways and at the stairs. It looks less spooky, and I love how they make the Castle look more alive and like a place people want to stay. I hated the dark, creepy Castle when I was small. After we became vampires, the darkness of the Castle came in handy for my father. He was, anyway, spending most of his day in the basement torturing people. We have turned the basement into a place to keep our wine and the b***d we get from b***d banks or animals. It is cool down there, and we could get in many fridges. Besides, if we get guests, they will not go into our basement, and our secret of being vampires will stay a secret. We do not want to scare our human friends, and we know once we make friends, they will come and visit us.
Not many humans live in the area, and there are no farms around us, as the land has always belonged to my family. The only creatures that visited us in the past were the gypsies. When they came to visit my grandfather, my father hated them as he was always afraid of magical creatures and that they would curse him. Now he is dead, and his ashes are still in the vault. I do not know what to do with his ashes as I do not like to have them in the Castle forever. I am thinking of throwing his ashes in the ocean where no one can find them, as the waters will wash them away. I want to ensure his ashes can never be used by or for magic again. I am glad they could bring my aunt back, but that was all they were good enough for. I am standing on the castle’s top floor, looking over at the Kingdom and feeling proud of what we have done so far.
“A penny for your thoughts,” Mariana says from behind me.
“I was looking at what we have done so far, my love,” I say as I pull her closer and hold her in my arms while we look over the Kingdom.
“I am so proud of you, baby,” Mariana says.
“I am proud of us as I could not have done any of this without you,” I say.
“Hmm, you make me sound like I can do miracles,” Mariana laughs.
“Well, you stole my heart, and that is a miracle,” I say. I remember meeting Mariana in the bar that night. I was so afraid for her life and had to send her away from me. I knew she loved me, and my cold vampire heart was beating faster and warmer than before, but I did not want to take a chance and get her killed as she was a hunter. I also did not want my father to find out about her. He would have killed her to spite me, and I did not want that. My father was evil enough, and he hated me enough to do something to Mariana to make me hurt. Look at what he did to his own brother. He killed his wife to make him suffer. I still can not believe he would do something like that, even if he hated his brother! Who wants to see his brother suffer as my uncle Dennis suffered?
“Well, honey, I have something to tell you,” Mariana says. I look at her and know I can see the softness in her eyes. I will let her tell me, as I know it is essential for her to tell me.
“I am listening, baby,” I say.
“I am pregnant,” Mariana says. I smile. I always thought I did not want children, but I am excited as I know I will never be like my father and give my children all the love and support they need. I take her in my arms and k**s her. I know my children will never be like their grandparents, and they will have a loving and supportive family.
“I am so happy! I know I always said I never wanted children, but my heart is at ease as I know the Moon Goddess will not bless us with a child if she thinks the child will be evil. I love you, Mariana, and know you will make a great mother,” I say.
“I was worried you would be upset,” Mariana says.
“How can I be upset when I have a child with the one I love,” I say. I k**s her again, and I know we will be fine. I know the Moon Goddess is looking at us from above and smiling as she knows we will be fine. Our Kingdom will flourish, and we will always be friends with the other creatures on earth. Well, not all of them, as there will always be evil in this world, but we will be friends with the children of the Moon Goddess. I look at Mariana, and she smiles up at me.
“We will be okay, honey,” Mariana says. I nod and smile back at her as I look over our new Kingdom and feel proud.
