“What?!” I blurted, the words coming out more sharply than I had intended.

“Yes, I can’t let you go back there. I don’t want the past repeating itself, I may not have met the Alpha of Crescent Moon but from what you’ve told me, I can tell that he’s a very unstable person and I don’t want to take any chances. Now that we know that you’re pregnant, you have every reason not to go there. I won’t let you travel or work in this condition, I’ll let Richard know about this and he’ll send someone instead.” Kayden maintained and I sighed, frustrated.

How do I explain to him that I want to go there because I want to conquer my fears?

“Listen to me Kayden, I want you to try to understand this from my own perspective. I was afraid to go there in the beginning because of my fear of Zephyr’s reaction but now I’m sure that I want to go. I don’t think Richard sending me there is just a coincidence, Maybe it’s what destiny wants. They all mistreated me and sent me away as a murderer, maybe this is my chance to finally redeem myself. There’s a higher percentage that Zephyr still won’t believe a word I have to say even though I can now talk and recount everything that happened on that but at least, it’s worth a try. I’m not going there for him anyway, I would also like to see my family. It’s been a while and no matter what they did to me, I still feel like I have a bond with them. I won’t lie to you dear, the thought of facing Zephyr again scared me so much but after thinking carefully about it, I’ve realized that this is an important part of my life and I have nothing to be scared of.

I’ll be going with an entourage, no matter how unstable Zephyr might be, he wouldn’t dare lay a finger on me as long as I’m a guest there. For the longest time, the memory of him has constantly haunted me but I don’t want that anymore.

If I’m truly to conquer my fear of him, I have to face him again and let him know that I’ve been doing fine, in fact, I’ve been the best version of myself without him. He had sought to break me and ruin me emotionally but it’s time to show him that his efforts failed.

You mean the whole world to me and I would never go against your decision but I really need this, I just want you to support me.” I spoke softly, taking his hands in mine and looking directly into his eyes.

When he saw how sincere I was, he broke. He couldn’t resist me whenever I pleaded this way. “Gosh Evelyn, why do you do this to me? You know that I can’t say no to that face.” He fussed and I tried my best to hold back a smile.

“So will you let me go?” I questioned, just to be sure. “Fine, you’re permitted to go but I’m only doing this for your happiness.” He hesitantly agreed, making it clear that he was only doing this for me and I was grateful to have such an understanding mate.

I gave him a hug this time. “Thank you so much dear.” I appreciated him.

“But you shouldn’t stay there for too long. Since you’re going there as an envoy, you should be as formal as possible. Since no one there likes you, it would be wise not to initiate casual conversation with anyone and especially not that Zephyr.” He said and I giggled. Of course I’m only going there for official business but I can’t help but notice the hint of jealousy in Kayden’s voice when he says Zephyr’s name. And since I feel like being petty at the moment, I decide to tease him about it.

I sniff the air slightly before speaking. “Oh my goodness, is that jealousy I smell?” I asked with a cocky smile and he pinched my nose lightly.

“Of course I’m jealous, I’m jealous that I won’t be able to spend time with you and our child at this crucial time in our lives, instead you’ll be spending your time in the presence of that horrible, horrible man who unfortunately used to be your mate. You’ve given me the best gift Evelyn, this really is the best time of my life and I want to spend every moment with you, helping you anyway I can.” Kayden said charmingly and I felt myself falling in love with him all over again. What did I do to receive such a blessing? I keep asking myself that.

“You don’t have to be jealous, sweetheart, you have my heart, soul and all of me. We belong to each other and nothing can change that. I wish to spend every moment with you as well but we both have duties to the pack to fulfill and besides, this is something that I really need to do. After this mission, I promise I won’t go on another trip and we’ll spend as much time as we can together until the baby is born. ” I assured.

“Do you promise?” He probed. “Yes and I’ll prove it right now.” I said with a smile and wrapped my arms around his neck before stealing a quick k**s. Kayden wasted no time in initiating a hot French k**s. He wrapped his arms around me and carefully laid me on the bed before buttering k****s all over me. I may not know what lies in store for me upon my return to the Crescent Moon Pack but one thing is for sure though, I will always love this man.
