For the next few days, I keep an eye on Margallo and try to spy on her but nothing is achieved. She’d stopped leaving her windows open and she’s always in her room most of the time.

During the times when she’s not in her room, I go in to check. I’ve checked about three times but have been unable to find any letter or incriminating evidence. I was almost caught on my third try and if not for Goddess Selene’s intervention, I would surely have been.

On that day, Margallo had just bumped into her room unceremoniously, she would have caught me if she’d only looked into the room but as soon as she was about to, her name was called and she left the room again.

I immediately took the chance and left. It happened two days ago and the incident left me a bit shaken and I don’t feel like going into her room anymore but I don’t really have a choice.

Today is Margallo’s birthday and as I remember correctly, she’s going to carry out her evil plans today. I pace up and down my room before eventually sitting down as my feet begin to feel heavy.

I had constantly been keeping an eye on Margallo, I’m almost a hundred percent sure that she hasn’t received or sent any letter outside of the palace yet but that only means that she’ll have to send it today so I have to keep a close eye on her, find out the truth without getting caught at all costs and finally expose her.

The sequence of events seems simple in my head but only I know how difficult it’s going to be, especially given my current condition.

“Evelyn, you can’t keep worrying like this. If you keep bothering yourself, who’s going to carry out the plan? The party will start in a few hours, the decorations are still being set up so I suggest you get into your party clothes and get to work. The truth isn’t gonna expose itself you know.” Tara reminds me, sarcastically and though I want to argue, I stop myself because I know that it’s the truth.

I sigh and walk to my wardrobe, bringing out the red dress that Elsie had picked out for me. She’d specially had the dress made just for me and I really couldn’t thank her enough. She’s always so thoughtful of me.

The dress is a long sleeved sexy bodysuit. It looks fancy but the material seems to be elastic so as to fit any body size. I smile at realizing the reason she picked out this particular outfit. She did so I would be able to wear the dress again some other time, even after I had given birth. I smile at her thoughtfulness and how gorgeous the dress looked.

I wasted no time in getting myself into it. I took a look at myself in the mirror and nearly gasped at how sexy I look despite my pregnancy. Maybe it was due to Margallo’s taunts or maybe just my general lack of self esteem but I’ve been thinking lately that I look ugly due to my significant weight gain and the changes my body has been going through but finally making out the time to take a good look at myself in the mirror, had shown me the truth and given me a new perspective.

Despite my pregnancy, I looked absolutely gorgeous. I was fit, somehow still managing to look much better than Margallo. The only difference being my significantly larger breasts and my rotund belly.

I shake the thought off and focus on my hair. I pin it back in a ponytail before deciding that a bun would look much more mature since I am going to become a mother soon. Some earrings and a necklace complete my look but before I leave my room, l slip on a pair of flats, the same colour as my dress.

The hallway is very busy today which is no surprise as it’s the impertinent princess’s birthday after all so everything is supposed to be perfect. I shake my head with a sigh, deciding to check up on Ana and Elsie before venturing to Margallo’s room.

I walk to Elsie’s room and I immediately perceive that something isn’t right.

Elsie seems to be sick once more and Ana seems to be offering her encouragement.

I walk into the room but they barely seem to notice my presence until I take a seat on the bed.

“Evelyn, you’re here.” Ana acknowledges and Elsie directs her gaze at me before pulling on an evidently fake smile.

“Evelyn, you’re looking very gorgeous. Everyone will be impressed when they see you.” She says in a teasing tone but I can see the worry in her eyes. I stare at Elsie with a concerned look on my face.

“Please don’t look so worried Evelyn, I’m absolutely fine. It’s just that I feel really restless, just like something bad is about to happen. I know it’s weird to say the least, I’m not someone who believes in premonitions but I just can’t seem to shake off this terrible feeling. Maybe it has something to do with my nightmare.” Elsie up and I tipped my head to the side, directing my gaze at Ana for succor.

“I don’t even understand what’s going on as well. She claimed to have had a terrible nightmare but the funny thing is, she doesn’t remember a thing about it and it’s kept her worried all morning. I’ve tried to talk some sense into her but she just refuses to listen to reason.” Ana said and I sigh.

I know exactly what’s going on here. Elsie’s instincts are right in this situation. Margallo has something dangerous planned out and she’s going to execute it today. If I don’t find a way to stop it as soon as possible, I fear something terrible is going to happen and if it does, I won’t be able to forgive myself for knowing about it beforehand and still not being able to do anything about it.

I turn to Elsie and take her hands in mine, squeezing them reassuringly. I badly wanted to tell her everything and give her words of encouragement but it seems as though I can’t, this is the best support I can currently offer.

She looks into my eyes and a smile lights her face. “Thanks Evelyn, for always doing your best despite how hard it is.” She said and I managed a small smile. I’m yet to do my best but let’s just hope that it’s enough.

“Um. I apologise, Luna but the Alpha requests your audience. He says to let you know that the party is about to start.” Emily said and all our attention was suddenly directed to her.

“Alright, I’ll be there.” Elsie assures and Emily bows before leaving.

“I really don’t feel like going but it wouldn’t speak well of the royal family if I didn’t, the whole pack would be in attendance and it just wouldn’t be proper if the Luna were to be absent so in consideration of that, I’ll just have to go.” Elsie said and sighed.

“That’s a wise choice. Come on, Evelyn and I will escort you to the Grand hall.” Ana offered and helped Elsie stand up.

They both look at me and I nod my head in the negative before gesturing to them that I’ll be right there.

They nod, thankfully not putting up an argument before taking their leave.

“So what do you intend to do next?” Tara questioned.

‘It should be obvious by now, I’m going to search Margallo’s room once more and this time, I won’t stop until I find the evidence.’ I told Tara and it almost felt like she wanted to protest but eventually stopped herself knowing that I wouldn’t even listen.

I leave Elsie’s room and close the door behind me before heading to Margallo’s room.

I walk through the deserted hallway carefully. Everyone is currently at the Grand Hall, probably enjoying the ongoing party but I still try to be careful. I arrive at Margallo’s room and thankfully, it’s empty.

I sigh and try to open the door and as if fate is on my side today, it’s not locked.

I open the door and go into the room slowly. I take a look at the neatly arranged room and begin to wonder where to look first.

If Margallo was still going to deliver that letter then it had to be today because if I remember correctly, she had promised to send it before the party would come to an end.

I take a deep breath and begin searching instantly, first looking in her wardrobe, before checking the bedside drawer, her dressing table and everywhere else that she could have hidden the letter but tried as much as I did, I couldn’t find anything.

I did a double check and when I couldn’t still find anything, I made up my mind to just give up but then, my eyes caught sight of something.

Her bed seemed a bit distorted, precisely the mattress. I walked stealthily, taking heavy steps towards the bed. I paused and lifted the mattress up with some effort and that’s when I saw it.

A small jewelry box was hidden under the mattress and though it wasn’t particularly disturbing, I found it odd. Who would hide a jewelry box inside their bed? Well, only if they had something to hide.

I took out the jewelry box and opened it and fortunately, there was no jewelry inside but instead, it held what I’d been frantically looking for all this while.

I sigh in relief and open the letter with shaky hands, my eyes widened in shock as the words inked on the paper instantly makes my b***d run cold.
