Rejected By My Mate, Chosen By Fate -
Chapter 38
Kayden’s POV
Ana took Elsie in an embrace, trying to comfort her.
“I know sweetheart but she isn’t in a condition to decide. We are her family so we can decide for her and if there is a slight chance that we can save both of them, we are going to have to take it no matter the risks. She has to birth the baby now, all we can do is hope and pray that her child will be OK.
It’s so unfortunate, such an innocent little one having to face such terrible difficulties so early in life. May goddess Selene bless and protect both of them.” Ana said, her voice breaking as she apparently tried as much as she could to not break down but instead be a pillar of hope to everyone else.
“Get the doctor here now. I don’t care what has to happen to the child but nothing must happen to Evelyn. If keeping the pregnancy will be a constraint to her treatment then she’ll have to give birth to the baby now. Though the child is innocent, it’ll have to face these difficulties and survive if Evelyn was truly meant to have that baby from the beginning.” I said determined and Ana nodded before leaving to get the doctor.
Ana returned with the doctor barely a few minutes later. “Doctor, we’ve made our decision, she has to give birth to the baby now.” I said emotionlessly, all the while never leaving her hand.
My mind couldn’t think of anything else but seeing Evelyn wake up. I wanted nothing more than to see her open her eyes and smile at me once again. I wanted to be able to hug and tease her once more. The memory of the way she blushed brought fond ticklish feelings in my belly but they were quickly weighed down by the sadness of the situation. I was willing to do anything or give up anything to make sure that she stayed alive because my life would be meaningless without her in it.
“Great. That’s a wise decision. I’m sorry but you’ll all have to leave now so I can induce her labour. I’ll first have to somehow get her out of her dissociative stupor. She’s not exactly unconscious, just in a state of shock and she’ll only be able to respond to strong physical stimuli.
I have to stir her up a bit and then induce her so she’ll be able to push and deliver the child so please leave.” The doctor requested and though I never wanted to leave her side, I knew it was necessary.
It was the only way she would be able to get better and recover. So with a heavy heart, I finally let go of her hand but to my greatest shock, she held my hand tightly.
I swallowed and took a deep breath before removing her hand from mine. I walked towards the door of the room and Elsie patted my back comfortingly.
“It’s going to be alright, she’s going to be fine. We just have to have faith.” Elsie encouraged, her voice raspy due to how much she’d been crying.
She’d finally had the courage to calm herself down and instead give me some encouragement so I had to act like the man in this situation and be brave as well.
I nodded and she managed a small smile. The three of us left the room and Ana closed the door behind us.
We stood outside the room, completely agitated and my heart nearly flew out of my chest when I heard a small scream of pain.
“Did you hear that?” I questioned the others. “Hear what?” They questioned, the answer taking me aback.
“I thought I just heard Evelyn screaming, she’s in pain.” I responded. “She’s completely mute and can’t speak, remember? So how could she have screamed? She must be in labour right now so of course she’s in pain. I think you just imagined it.” Elsie said and I shook my head, the feeling was too surreal.
“No, I couldn’t have imagined it. I felt it, she’s in terrible pain and she needs us, she needs me.” I said and made to go into the room but Ana grabbed my hand, stopping me.
“Every woman will have to go through this pain in order to become a mother and there’s really nothing you can do about it. But only her mate is supposed to feel and connect with her pain so how is it possible that you feel it?” Ana questioned, surprised.
“Haven’t you figured it out yet, mom? Kayden and Evelyn are made for each other. Their bond is so strong and unbreakable. Though they may have had absolutely different mates in the beginning, they only truly belong to each other. They’re not just mates mum, they’re soulmates and you don’t get to see this kind of love and connection everyday.” Elsie said with a laugh.
“I’ve also noticed dear but never paid much attention to it but now I’m absolutely convinced that these two are made for each other and nothing should be made to separate them, not Margallo or even death.” Ana said with a huge smile and instead of her words to bring a smile to my face, it immediately piqued my anger.
My mind instantly remembered just who was responsible for all this. I instantly remembered who was responsible for putting the love of my life through so much pain and suffering and with every silent scream I felt her make, my anger grew until it felt like a storm.
I don’t care whatever happens next, I’m going to make sure I put an end to Alpha Turner’s life for trying to kill my brother and harming my beloved. He’ll have to pay dearly for this.
I don’t care what the consequences may be but I’ll make sure he suffers in twenty folds what he’s put my dear Evelyn through. Neko awoke within me, prepared for battle and I channeled my anger through him.
“We’re going to make them pay for daring to harm our mate.” Neko said and I growled under my breath, my eyes changing colour.
I Instantly headed towards the hall.
“Kayden, where are you going? Evelyn needs you.” Elsie called, maybe understanding my intentions.
“Take care of her, I have unfinished business to complete.” I said, my voice, dark and deep.
I walked swiftly away from them and transformed, my clothes tearing off of me.
“Kayden, wait! No!” I heard Elsie yell after me, her voice fading as I ran towards the hall where I expected the traitor to still be.
I was beyond the point of reasoning. I want revenge for what Alpha Turner did to Evelyn and I will not be denied, my thirst for revenge can only be quenched when the enemy’s b***d flows.
