No, this couldn’t be. I can’t let this happen, I have to do something.

I have to stay in this palace at all costs and I have to take control of my own fate. I’ve come too far to just be dismissed like this. I don’t care what happens after this but I have to at least try.

Sir Carter instantly grabbed hold of my arm, wanting to drag me away but I shook his hand off of him. “Please, your Majesty, don’t do this. I beg of you.” I pleaded, immediately falling on my knees.

“How dare you speak in His Majesty’s presence. You’ll surely die today you ungrateful bitch!” Sir Carter yelled and attempted to hit me again but King Cassius stopped him, leaving me in shock.

“Don’t. You don’t have to hit her. Let her speak, I would like to hear what she has to say.” He said and I wondered just what was going through his mind.

Nonetheless, I was grateful for being given a chance to speak and so I took it. I knelt down properly, placing both hands on the marble floor and practically bowing to him. My body shook in tears as I spoke. “Your Majesty please don’t kill me, I don’t want to die. I haven’t committed a crime and even if I did, I’m ready to accept any other punishment but death. I have so much to offer if I’m kept alive, just please spare my life and let me live. I would be of no use to you if I’m dead, let me live and serve you instead.” I pleaded in tears and somehow, I realized that this had gone past the stage of acting a long time ago. Everything going on is actually real, I’m actually pleading for my life and if I don’t succeed, I might die here and I can’t let that happen, there’s too much at stake.

My body shook as my breath ragged. “And why should I let you live?” He questioned and I could sense the fun in his tone. He’s enjoying this, isn’t he? Making people plead and beg for their lives seemed to be his pastime.

“Your Majesty please………..” Was all I could say because I couldn’t even come up with a valid reason as to why I should be spared. It was almost too scary to comprehend.

“You’re of no use to me. I already have enough b***d slaves, more than enough in my opinion. You’re not suitable to be my s*x slave, you’re too fragile. You’ll break on our first encounter. You’re surely of no use to me and on the other hand, I find you quite suspicious. You’re stopping yourself from thinking in my presence and I find that quite dubious, it’s either you have obscene or dangerous thoughts and I’m pretty sure it’s the latter. Don’t think that I’m scared of you, you’re completely incapable of doing me any harm. Just a click of my finger and you’ll disappear from the face of the Earth. I’m impressed by how descriptive your thoughts are when you aren’t safeguarding your mind, that is. You’ve pleaded for mercy in my presence so I’ll give you a less gory fate, instead of ordering your death, I’ll leave your fate in Carter’s hands as a reward for his faithfulness.

He’ll decide what to do with you so you can cry and beg all you want but my verdict is final. Your tears mean nothing to me.” He said and I shivered as an ominous wind blew through the room. I think he’s the only one capable of mind reading or else Sir Carter would have made a fuss about my indecent thoughts. Or maybe he had read my mind too but couldn’t say anything because we were in the presence of the King but that’s really not important now, I might not even live long enough to figure it out if I don’t get out of this messy situation soon.

“You heard what His Majesty said, come with me and don’t waste my time or else I’ll double your punishment.” He yelled and yanked me up to my feet. I realized that if I allow myself to be taken away by Sir Carter, it certainly won’t end well and my mission will only be jeopardized.

“Your Majesty, please, please reconsider.” I pleaded once more, hoping that some kind of miracle would happen and that he would change his mind and decide to keep me in his castle but it seemed nothing of that sort was going to happen.

“Shut up wench.” Sir Carter yelled at me and dragged me along. I really can’t let this happen. I quickly searched my mind for options, not caring if King Cassius would read my thoughts. It seemed there was only one thing left to do at this moment, run.

I took a look at Sir Carter’s face as he kept dragging me along, he seemed distracted, which was good. I then looked at his hand on my arm, his grip wasn’t tight and could certainly be wriggled out of. I looked around, searching for options to escape and as if Selene was on my side for the first time since this mission, the large throne room doors opened as another distinguished vampire strolled in. I instantly saw my chance.

In my daze and apparent adrenaline rush, I bit hard on Sir Carter’s hand and he quickly withdrew his hand from my arm, cursing softly. Immediately I was out of his grip, I took to my heels, not daring to look back.

It seemed no one had expected my action as the guards didn’t close the door and I was able to escape out of the throne room. I ran for all I was worth, my adrenaline making me run faster that I thought I ever could. I ran through the large, long halls, despite having no idea where I was headed, all I wanted to do was just escape somehow but I knew it was impossible, the vampires were chasing after me and in a matter of a few seconds, I would be caught and given the worst punishment, maybe the death penalty and the thought of it made my heart bleed.

What have I done? It’s starting to be glaringly clear that I had made the wrong decision by running away and trying to escape. What was I thinking? To be honest, I wasn’t even thinking at that moment, I was too afraid to. I had just gone ahead and relied on instinct. And now I regret it but there’s nothing I can do. Although it’s obvious I’ll be caught, I can’t dare stop or it’s the end. Even if I die, I’ll at least die trying.

I can hear the vampires just behind me so I stop and grab a huge vase before throwing it in their direction. I know that they can easily dodge it but it’ll at least slow them down.

I’m completely exhausted and at the verge of breaking down so I decide to look around for a place to hide. If I keep running, they’ll either catch me or I’ll faint so it would be good to hide now that I had slowed them down.

Just then, my eyes caught sight of a room and I ran to it and quickly barged in without thinking.

I closed the door behind me and locked it, I turned around, exhausted and completely out of breath and what I saw nearly knocked me out of consciousness.

It was a large and beautiful room but that wasn’t the problem, it definitely wasn’t. What nearly scared the living daylights out of me was what I saw on the bed.

Laying on the bed was a male vampire and a woman. He seemed to be having s*x with her from his movements under the covers but his face was buried deep in her neck and she was moaning so loudly.

At the sound of me entering the room, he stopped what he was doing and turned to look at me and his gaze spooked me out.

He was beautiful but he also looked dreadful. He gazed at me, his eyes fierce and dangerous. His mouth was covered in b***d and his fangs shined red with b***d as he smiled at me.

He got up from the bed, not minding his nude state and I instantly turned away, my cheeks turning pink. What kind of joke is this? How the hell do I find myself ending up in such awkward situations? I had barely escaped one and here was another. Oh Selene help me. He approached me slowly.

And as if to compound my problems, I heard the vampires banging on the door. “Open up, open this door right now. Consider yourself dead, human!” They threatened and I instantly felt like disappearing.

I turned away from the door once more and I nearly bumped into the naked Vampire in the room. My heart stopped at that moment and I moved backwards, my back hitting the door immediately and my hands held it for support but he didn’t stop moving until there was barely any distance between us.

He kept smiling at me, his mouth bloody and scary, his fangs glittering and intimidating. I’m trapped, what do I do? I’m caught between a rock and a hard place and there’s absolutely nowhere to run or hide.

I’m certainly done for. Will I really be able to survive this?
