“You know you look so cute when you’re frightened but you really don’t have to be so scared of me. I won’t hurt you……… yet.” He said and turned away from me and I didn’t even know if I should feel relieved or not. “The task is simple, just behave and do whatever I tell you to without question and we’ll get along fine. I’m not like Carter and the others who derive pleasure from hurting innocent little girls. I won’t harm you if I don’t have to.” He said and sat on his bed, legs crossed in an annoyingly provocative position.

“What do you want from me?” The words left my mouth before I could even stop them. He laughed softly before staring at me intently, which instantly made me feel nervous. “I love how bold you’ve suddenly become but what I love more is the deliciously satisfying smell of fear that your body is radiating right now.” He said and I gulped. So they can smell fear as well, what can’t they do? Things just keep getting dangerously complicated.

“Since you’re very eager to know, you will be my b***d slave.” He said and the words sent a shiver down my spine. I don’t think I’ll be able to last long if I become his b***d slave. I need to get this done as soon as possible.

The clicking of his finger brought me back to reality and only then did I realize that he was in front of me. He suddenly grabbed my chin roughly, forcing me to look him directly in the eyes. “When I’m speaking to you slave, I expect to have your full attention. Concentrate on me alone and free your mind of any thoughts or else, I’ll punish you. Is that understood?” He questioned and I nodded with what little leverage his tight grip on my chin provided.

He let go of me so suddenly that I nearly fell to the floor but I somehow managed to regain my balance. He turned around and walked towards the bed once more but suddenly stopped. “By the way, I can read your thoughts so I can find out everything you’re thinking and for your own safety, you had better not think of escaping or doing anything stupid because I’ll find out and when I do, you really don’t want to know the consequences. My punishments are relatively spontaneous so it would be best for you to behave like a good little pet.” He said and went to sit on his bed.

“You’ll sleep in the room next to mine but while that is being prepared, I’ll get you quickly suited to a few of my rules.” He said and gestured for me to sit down. “Have a seat, I don’t want you losing your energy before I feed. You’re going to have to take care of yourself a lot more if you wish to stay alive a lot longer.” He said with a smirk that put his shiny fangs on display. I instantly sat on the floor, not wishing to attract anymore danger to myself.

He got up once more and went to the door, he called upon someone by the name of Anika and in a few minutes, a middle aged woman showed up.

“I want you to get a spare room ready. Tidy it up properly and make sure that it’s nice and cozy, I want my little pet to be comfortable.” He instructed and the older woman nodded, keeping her eyes glued to the floor. “But master, which room shall I prepare? There are hundreds of rooms in the castle.” She questioned timidly. “Prepare the one right next to my room, I want to make sure that I can keep an eye on my food so she doesn’t get into too much trouble.” He said and the woman nodded once more.

I will not lie, I hate being regarded as food and it brings back many unpleasant memories but there’s nothing I can do about it right now. I mustn’t overthink it or it might attract punishment if Prince Virgil gets an inkling of my thoughts.

“You may leave.” He instructed and she bowed and left. He closed the door and directed his attention back to me. “As I was saying, I only have three rules and if you abide by them, I’m sure we’ll get along just fine. The first rule is that you must wake up early everyday, get ready and come to my room. You will have breakfast here, I’m sure we’ll both have a wonderful time feeding.” He said and his words disgusted me to no end. “The second rule is that you must obey my every command without question or you’ll be punished and thirdly, don’t loiter around the castle, don’t go anywhere without my permission and stay away from the King. He doesn’t seem to fancy you much. Most importantly, stay away from Carter, he’s a ruthless narcissist. You have an attractive aroma and I have the feeling that your b***d will have a certain zest to it so if you want to remain safe, always stay close to me.

Because you belong to me, I’ll make sure to always protect you. You shouldn’t take my promise of protection for granted because if you go looking for trouble, there’s only so much I can do. I expect you to abide by each and every one of my rules if you wish to live a relatively peaceful life.” He said and I nodded.

‘I’m somewhat happy that he doesn’t seem to be interested in me sexually because if he had been, I don’t know what I would have done.’ The thought makes me sigh in relief but his small chuckle instantly captures my attention.

“You know you shouldn’t get so ahead of yourself. What makes you think I don’t find you sexually attractive?” He questioned and I stiffened. Gosh, I forgot about his mind reading. This is going to be a lot tougher than I anticipated.

He walked up to me and swiftly grabbed my waist, completely taking me by surprise as he brought my body flush against his. “You’re beautiful no doubt and I find you absolutely captivating and that’s the only reason why I strived to gain ownership of you. Your scent is very teasing but I don’t want to focus on that because you are human after all. You’re so delicate and vampires like it rough so if I were to take you as my s*x slave, you might not last a week and I intend to keep you alive for as long as possible because you would be much more useful for other purposes, such as feeding and some other form of entertainment.” He said and I just stared at him speechlessly, trying to reduce the b***d rushing to my face.

He brought his hand to my face and I closed my eyes, expecting to be hit but when I felt him caressing my cheek with his fingers, my eyes instantly shot open and I managed to blush harder not only due to his gesture but also because of the hungry look he had in his eyes.

“I just love it when I make women blush. Don’t think for one second that you’re safe from me, I can always change my mind and have you whenever and wherever, especially if you keep being so cute.” He said and finally let go of me while I gasped for breath, wishing to somehow calm my outrageously beating heart.

He smirked and turned away from me once more. “I’ll certainly derive some fun from getting you all hot and bothered. I’ll provide you with a chance to come to terms with your new life and to understand your new responsibilities. The most important part of your existence is to keep me happy, if you do that, I won’t hesitate to pamper and make you the envy of many.” He said and sat back down. “Anika is here, perfect timing.” He said and we heard a knock on the door a few minutes later. “Your Highness, I’m done with the assignment. I’ve finished getting the room ready for her.” The woman by the name of Anika reported. “Good. Take her there and make sure she gets settled in nicely. I want her to be comfortable.” He instructed and she nodded. “Yes, your highness.” She answered and beckoned me to follow her.

“Please come with me young miss.” She called and I looked to Prince Virgil for permission. It’s better that I start abiding by his rules, for my own safety. My new motto is, I must survive no matter what. “May I go with her?” I questioned softly. “Yes, don’t forget any of my rules and remember, be good.”He said and I nodded before turning to follow her out of the room. I closed the door behind me and followed Anika to the next room just beside Prince Virgil’s room. She opened the room and I couldn’t hold back my gasp. It’s not like I had never seen a huge room before, it’s just that I’m more or less a slave now so I had definitely not expected to be given such a luxurious room. I went into the room and took a look around, admiring the amazing decor.

“This is your room now. Please obey and do whatever Master Virgil tells you and stay away from trouble.” The woman said and before I had the opportunity to ask questions, she was gone. I sighed and closed the door.

I walked further into the room and slumped down into the surprisingly very soft bed. My heart was still racing and my b***d was still coursing with unbridled adrenaline due to the events that had taken place just a few minutes ago. I took a deep breath and tried to calm down. Now that I’m finally alone, I can finally make up a plan and think of a way forward. I can’t help but still worry about Kayden’s wellbeing but something deep within me, maybe call it a sixth sense, just tells me that he’s safe wherever he is.

I miss him a lot and the thought of him only helps to worsen my already terrible mood. I’m still wondering how on Earth I’m supposed to go about this task. It was by grace that I survived entry into the palace so how will I possibly get King Cassius and Lucia to fall in love with each other? What’s even the guarantee that they won’t try to kill Lucia immediately when she steps into the castle or that they won’t try to kill each other the first chance they get? This is just so complicated and there’s the issue of Kayden’s safety. Even if he does manage to find Lucia, how do I communicate with him again? Especially since I’m stuck in the castle as Prince Virgil’s b***d slave. As if that isn’t enough, how do I bring them together and make everything right? Nothing seems to make sense anymore and the more I try to make sense of it, the more heartbreaking the reality seems. As more of these disturbing questions pop up in my mind, my head buzzes with pain and the pain flows to my stomach, making it growl.

Just then, I realize that amidst all the drama, I haven’t eaten anything yet. I instantly sit up, wondering what I’m supposed to do when my door suddenly throws open………….
