Sir Carter seemed to be happy about the prince getting reprimanded because he jeered at him while I saw Prince Virgil clench his fists helplessly but King Cassius’s next words certainly took us all by surprise.

“Virgil, you’re the mighty prince of Luceras, you’re not expected to get into fights for any reason, I expect you to take what you want. I had given her away to Sir Carter and if you wanted her, you could have just asked. Never do anything that is below your status.” King Cassius said with an emotionless expression. The shock that instantly registered on Sir Carter’s face was so funny that it was almost impossible not to laugh but I remembered the type of situation I’m currently in so I just placed my hand over my mouth and giggled silently. This King Cassius is certainly one hell of an unpredictable man. Not only are his expressions unreadable, you never know what to expect.

A smile lit Prince Virgil’s face at King Cassius’s words. “I apologize to you brother, for my misbehavior, there won’t be a chance for repetition but I think it’s already obvious, I want the girl.” Prince Virgil said licking his bottom l*p and I could only gulp. It almost seems like I’m going from one problem to another but he couldn’t be as bad as Sir Carter, right? I don’t even think I wanna find out. I’m finding a way out of here as soon as the others leave the room but a realization suddenly hits me. If I do manage to escape which already seems to be virtually impossible, all my efforts would have been for nothing, plus, I would become a fugitive. Prince Virgil has assumed the role of my master so if I escape, a lot of vampires would be out looking for me. Where would I even go? I barely even know this place so I wouldn’t even survive half a day if I’m on the run, they would easily catch me and probably kill me and everything would be finished. I would never get to leave this place and what about my Nevaeh and Kayden and everyone else? As my mind calculated the grave consequences of any impulse action of mine, it sent chills through me. This is obviously a vampire’s world and if I wish to survive here, I have to be very smart, cunning even. I can’t afford to make any mistakes or make any hasty decisions or it’ll only end up badly for me. I have to focus, I have to survive at all costs, I have to finish this mission so Kayden and I can get the hell out of here.

“Then she’s yours.” King Cassius said conclusively. “But your Majesty………..” Sir Carter tried to protest. “Carter, you might be an old friend and one of my most loyal subjects, but it would be beneficial for you to always know your place. You are below royalty and on no account will you make the mistake of disrespecting the prince, am I clear?” King Cassius questioned, the sharp edge to his tone promising danger.

“Yes, your Majesty. Please forgive my impudence. I will not repeat my mistake ever again.” Sir Carter said with a bowed head. “Good. Now everyone should return back to their posts.” King Cassius said and they chorused. “Yes, your Majesty.” And they all left, leaving the king, the prince and I and of course that girl still on the bed, in the room.

“And what the hell are you still doing here? Do you need a special request before you get out?!” King Cassius said harshly to the girl, managing to instill fear in not only her, but in me as well. “I’m sorry your Majesty, I wasn’t thinking straight.” She said and got up from the bed, not even bothering to cover herself up with the blanket. She just grabbed a hold of her clothes and left the room as quickly as lightning. She closed the door behind her and King Cassius then directed his attention at his brother.

“I honestly don’t want a repeat of what happened today Virgil, it’s too belittling.” King Cassius said. “Yes, brother. I promise it won’t happen again. Thank you for fulfilling my request and handing the human to me.” Prince Virgil said with a cheeky smile and he honestly looked so cute.

Due to how scared I was at first, I honestly didn’t have the chance to study his features. In all sincerity, Prince Virgil looks very different from his brother. While the King has pitch black hair, Prince Virgil seems to have short ruby red hair that fell on his face, just above his left eyebrow. He was just as pale as everyone else here and had a strikingly handsome face just like his brother but his smiling face held gentle kindness, unlike the unnervingly cold expression which his brother always had on. I can’t help but wonder if the king even laughs. Their eyes are different, Prince Virgil has warm amber coloured eyes while King Cassius’s piercing red eyes mirror that of a viper ready to strike at any given moment. Aside from the minor difference in appearance, they seemed very much alike facially.

“Inquisitive much? It would do you good to keep those thoughts of yours at bay.” King Cassius said suddenly in his signature cold tone and I jolted in shock, hiding behind Prince Virgil once more. Prince Virgil chuckled while I blushed wildly. He must have read my thoughts as well, now that it’s just us in the room, they are able to concentrate enough to read me. Gosh, I really need to be careful.

“Don’t scare her too much brother, she was only complimenting us.” Prince Virgil said and I bit on my lower l*p. I must not overthink things in their presence.

“I have no idea what you see in her that is worth saving but I’ll leave you to do some exploring of your own. But I must warn you, she’s wild and she has to be properly tamed so that all she can ever think about is pleasing you. Her thoughts should only revolve around you because you are now her master and by extension, her whole world.” King Cassius said and I couldn’t help but shiver. If this isn’t sadistic, then I don’t know what is.

“Don’t worry brother, I have it all under control. You rule a whole empire and yet you don’t even break a sweat. I’m sure I’ll be able to handle one human. This wild kitten will certainly be tamed sooner than you expect.” Prince Virgil said and King Cassius gave a nod.

He turned to leave but sent a sharp look in my direction, as if warning me to behave or else there would be harsh consequences. I didn’t have to be told twice. I still remember what happened to that poor warden and I dread it so much. I wouldn’t want the same fate to befall me.

King Cassius finally left and Prince Virgil closed the door and that’s when the adrenaline rush began again, almost as intensely as a few minutes ago. “So we’re finally alone.” Prince Virgil commented as he walked towards me while I began a slow drift backwards.

Oh no, who’s going to save me this time?
