I took a look around a bit and then met eyes with Kayden, my heart was beating nonstop as I brought my hands to his just to make sure that all this was real and I wasn’t just dreaming or hallucinating.

Kayden smiled at me as he enclosed my hand in his, I smiled back and finally got into his warm embrace without fear of any sort. I exhaled as we hugged. I feel so relieved and I don’t want to let go but I have to.

When we pull apart, Kayden’s smile quickly fades and this has me wondering what the problem is. “Can you…….speak?” He questioned and a sudden fear gripped my heart. Although we’d finished the mission, I was yet to speak but I already did my part so goddess Selene should have done hers, right?

My throat suddenly felt dry and I swallowed. I took a deep breath and spoke the first thing that came to my mind. “I miss Tara and everyone else, I’m so glad that we’re finally back home.” The sound of my voice softly echoing in the library brought to me a certain kind of joy that was indescribable.

I’ve been given a voice, I can actually talk now, I’m so excited. Kayden hugged me once more and I rested in his embrace. “You deserve it Evelyn because you earned it.” Tara spoke to me and my smile widened even more as I broke apart from Kayden and tears stung my eyes.

“Tara.” I called. “You’re back, I’ve missed you so much.” I said happily and wiped the tears that threatened to fall. “Of course, I’m back and it’s so good to be back. I’ve missed you even more, you can’t imagine how difficult it was without you. I was practically in limbo but apart from the boredom that threatened to end me, I was more scared for your well-being. I prayed everyday that Selene would guide your steps and I’m so glad that she did. I kept worrying how you would cope without me, especially on such a difficult mission and in such a horrific place as well but you surprised me Evelyn, you’ve truly grown up. You faced the struggles and came out victorious and now you’re a strong woman, I couldn’t be more proud to be your wolf.” Tara said and my heart melted at her words. “I adore you as well Tara, I thought about you everyday and I’m glad that we’re finally one again.” I said joyfully.

“I’m sorry, but who’s Tara?” Kayden questioned and I remembered that I wasn’t alone and everything I’ve said, I’ve said it out unlike when I was mute. “You’re not mute anymore Evelyn so if you want to talk to me, you’ll have to communicate with me telepathically through your mind so you won’t look like a crazy girl, talking to yourself.” Tara said and I smiled. Yeah, I’ll have to remember that. Only I can hear Tara so I should probably speak to her with my mind. I’ll have to admit though, it feels good to be able to think freely without the fear of my thoughts being read.

“Tara is my wolf, she’s more like a mother to me.” I answered and Kayden smiled. “I also got my wolf back, his name is Neko. Although Neko is yet to communicate with Tara, he’s very excited to meet her.” Kayden said and I giggled.

“You can’t imagine, Tara is excited as well.” I answered back. “It’s a good thing we won’t have to make them wait long anymore.” Kayden said and took both of my hands in his and kissed them.

Just then, we heard that familiar but annoying voice, the one who had gotten us into that mess in the first place.

“When you two love birds are done romancing, can I get a little attention here?” Voithós questioned.

“And what for? So you can send us on another life threatening mission of possibly no return?” I teased and Voithós chuckled.

“I must say I like you better with a voice, I don’t think I’ve said it but you have a beautiful voice.” Voithós said, completely shocking me with the compliment.

“Thank you.” I answered back.

“But be careful with your new ability, don’t let your mouth go causing trouble for yourself. Always remember to be careful what you say.” Voithós said in a light, joking manner but I knew that he was serious about the warning. But I honestly have nothing to worry about, I’m not that type of girl. Almost 19 years of being mute and I’m finally granted speech, I’m definitely sure that hurting people with my words wouldn’t be the first thing on my to do or rather, to say list.

“I’ll be careful, don’t worry.” I assured him. “By the way, congratulations on your success. I wasn’t sure you were going to be able to finish the mission without getting killed but you surprised me. Selene was right to choose you for this task, you may not know it yet but you’ve made history Evelyn. Along with the new voice, the goddess has blessed you with good luck for the coming years. Your days of sorrow are certainly over, get ready for only good things ahead. And Kayden, don’t forget about the things I showed you and what I told you, they’ll be important in the coming future.

Although it’s been nice having a good encounter with the both of you, I must take my leave. And the goddess’s book must go to someone else, specially chosen, either to bless or curse them, depending on whatever they choose. Antio sas (goodbye).” He said and disappeared into the book. The pages of the book flipped on its own and the blank pages from the last person’s experience began filling itself up with pictorial descriptions of our adventure in the kingdom of Luceras.

It showed the end of our adventure by our return home and when the description finished itself, the book disappeared in a ray of light.

And just then, I remembered my daughter, Neveah. “I have to go to Neveah right now.” I said and rushed out of the library. My mind was so occupied that I nearly bumped into Elsie.

“Woah there, Evelyn. What’s the rush and what are you wearing? You look like you’re about to go to a vampire themed party or something.” Elsie said and the irony of her words would have made me laugh hard if I wasn’t so worried.

“There’s so much to say, I’ll tell you all about it later but I need to check on my daughter first.” I said and rushed towards my room.

“Oh my good goddess, Evelyn you can talk?” I heard Elsie question, utterly shocked but I didn’t have time for that.

I barged into my room and saw that Neveah was still asleep in her cradle, just the way I had left her when I went to the library. So did this mean that what Voithós had said was true, did that mean that all the time Kayden and I spent in the vampire world didn’t in fact reflect here? I really hope so.

I walked to her cradle and touched her cute chubby cheek. I had really missed this. I carefully carried her in my arms and hugged her to my chest as I kissed her forehead. She stirred a bit at my actions but she didn’t wake up. I just love this little baby to pieces and I can’t imagine my life without her. There were days in Luceras where I feared that I would never see my daughter again and though I was not made to undergo any physical torture, those were indeed the worse days for me because I’m now a mother.

I just want to keep her in my arms forever and never let go but I can’t, I put her down so she can continue to sleep peacefully.

I feel a hand rest on my shoulder and I nearly jump in shock but I calm down when I see that it’s just Elsie and Kayden behind me.

“Will somebody please tell me what is going on here? I’m so curious that my brain hurts. Why is Evelyn dressed like this and more importantly, when did she start talking?” Elsie questioned frantically and I could understand her frustration. To be honest, even I don’t fully understand what is going on here but no matter what, I’m just satisfied with the outcome. Especially with the fact that Voithós has promised that only good things will happen from now on.

“Calm down Elsie, we’ll tell you everything but we really can’t talk here, we’ll wake up Neveah. Let’s go talk some place else.” Kayden suggested and I nodded.

“Alright, let’s go to my room.” Elsie said and we all followed her to her room.
