Chapter 98

I narrated everything to Elsie and I’m sure she wouldn’t have believed me if I didn’t have the voice to prove it. I’m also not able to completely wrap my head around it, it all just really feels like a weird dream. It’s too bad that she couldn’t read about our adventures from the book. LOL. I mainly just gave her the important details and left out the more uncomfortable parts. Elsie was also able to verify that we were speaking the truth because Luceras did in fact exist, but it’s very far away from our pack, it’s almost a week’s journey. Kayden also told her about what Voithós had revealed about him and Elsie was very shocked. She also told Kayden not to blame himself for anything since he was too young to have stopped anything and everything had already happened so none of us had any control over it.

Kayden decided that he wanted to confront Richard about the whole thing and Elsie advised against it and even I didn’t like the idea. I feel like Richard and Kayden having a talk about the reason why their mum died young would not lead to anything good.

After the long discussion, Elsie called a meeting of everyone in the palace and even the pack house and announced that goddess Selene had done a miracle by granting me a new voice, she didn’t state the circumstances surrounding the voice like the wise Luna she is and I’m grateful to her for that. The things that happened in Luceras should mainly remain between the three of us.

Emily suggested throwing a party to celebrate my new voice but I declined and Elsie then suggested that instead of throwing a party, we could just prepare for Kayden and my mating ceremony, that would be the best way to celebrate my new ability and everyone agreed. Kayden was practically grinning from ear to ear.

I almost can’t believe that it’s finally the day of my mating ceremony. It felt just like yesterday when I was rejected and forsaken by Zephyr. I had thought that I would probably die as a lone wolf but here I am today with the best man to call my mate, things surely can’t get better than this. Elsie helped me with my dress while Ana braided my hair. Since Kayden is not my fated mate but instead my chosen mate, we were going to be joined together in a mating ceremony before the bond is sealed by marking. After declaring me as his mate in front of everyone, Kayden would perform the mating ritual by walking around the fire holding hands. This would be done under the light of the full moon so that goddess Selene would be a witness to our union and bless it. While walking around the fire we would silently say our vows to each other, his vow was basically to do everything in his power to love me, protect me and always keep me happy. While my vow was to always love him, support him and do my best to fulfill my duties as his mate. After our vows, we would shift into wolves and mark each other, him going first. We would then both go to the room that had been prepared for us and consummate our bonding.

From that day onwards, we would officially be known as mates, fated to be together for life.

As the thoughts of everything that was going to take place flooded my mind, it almost brought tears to my eyes but I had to stop myself so the make up look that Emily had worked so hard to perfect would not be ruined.

“I almost can’t believe it, our little Evelyn is finally going to find happiness today. You’ll finally have a mate who will not only appreciate you but will love you for the gem you are. I’m so happy for you and Kayden. Now we’re going to be double related, we’ll be both sisters and sisters-in-law.” Elsie said happily and slightly hugged me from behind.

“I just feel so happy today dearest, it feels just like yesterday when I found you helpless and shivering under that tree. I loved you instantly and always prayed for your happiness. My wish has finally been fulfilled and now I can’t help tearing up even on this joyous occasion.” Ana said and wiped her tears. “It’s always OK to cry mum, especially if they’re tears of joy. The only problem is that you’ll make me cry too. All I’ve achieved is because I have you all by my side and I wouldn’t trade it for anything else in the world.” I said and Ana kissed my forehead.

“This is such a joyful day, no more tears please . We should rather talk about the good stuff, like how their first night is going to be like. I know he’s definitely going to be sweet to you.” Emily said contentedly and the others laughed while I playfully glared at her.

“Emily…………” I drawled, a huge blush forming across my cheeks. “Don’t pretend like you’re not already anticipating it. Look at how red your cheeks are.” Emily teased further. I looked to Ana and Elsie for some succor.

“Alright that’s enough Emily, look how embarrassed she looks. Don’t tease her anymore.” Ana came to my defense. “I’m sorry, I just couldn’t help myself.” Emily apologized. “It’s OK.” I said with a wave of the hand. Just then, Alpha Richard walked in. “Is it time yet dear? Is the full moon at its peak yet?” Elsie questioned.

“Yeah, it’s time. Everyone’s waiting outside.” Alpha Richard asserted. “Let’s go.” Elsie said and Emily helped me up. “Wow Evelyn, you’re looking so beautiful. Kayden is already so eager and I bet he won’t be able to take his eyes off you for one second.” Alpha Richard said and I smiled gratefully. Despite the fact that today is supposed to be one of the happiest days of my life, I can’t help but feel extremely nervous.

They all escorted me outside the palace where all the members of the pack house were gathered. My eyes searched the crowd for Kayden and when I finally saw him, my cheeks heated up instantly.

He was looking at me with such admiration like I was the most precious thing in the world and this feeling he was igniting in me was so good that I never wanted it to stop.

I walked up to him gracefully and he took my hand in his. “You look so beautiful Evelyn, you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Thank you for coming into my life and filling it with so much happiness.” Kayden said and my blush deepened. If anyone was supposed to be saying those words then it ought to be me.

“No. I should be the one saying that. Thank you for not giving up on me, even when I’d given up on myself. Thank you for accepting me, even with my numerous flaws, thank you for loving me and showing me what it feels like to be loved and most of all, thank you for being in my life and filling it with so much happiness.” I wished back and he brought my hand to his lips and kissed it gently.

“I guess we’re both thankful for having each other and now that we’ll finally get the chance to be together, I’ll never let you go.” He said and I smiled, tears of joy quickly gathering at the edge of my eyes. This man just has a way with words, his every word has my heart beating rhythmically in joy.

Alpha Richard cleared his throat in order to get our attention.

“We’re all gathered here today to witness the lovely union between two hearts and two wolves who in a few minutes will become one. I would like to appreciate all of you for taking your time to be a part of this, I’m proud to be the leader of such a cordial pack where togetherness is the watchword. Without further ado, let the mating ceremony begin.” Alpha Richard gave his opening speech and everyone clapped.

Kayden and I walked hand in hand to the bonfire in the center and in front of everyone, Kayden declared me as his mate.

“I, Kayden Lakiel, prince of the Kizmet Pack hereby declare Evelyn Emerson as my mate and princess from today onwards. I promise to always love, respect and protect her. I also promise not to do anything that will disrespect our bond.” He declared and I couldn’t hold back the tears anymore so I finally let them fall. I’m so happy that I can’t even measure.

He turned to me and wiped away my tears. “You should only smile.” He whispered and I smiled. “Shall we?” He asked my permission and I nodded. He held onto my hand tightly but not with the kind of force that would hurt and together we walked around the fire and silently said our vows while everyone maintained silence in what was considered to be the auspicious time.

After Kayden said his vows, we exchanged positions and I took the lead and said my vows with the moon goddess as my witness.

I promised with all my heart that I would fulfill all my duties towards Kayden and I would always treasure our bond no matter the challenges ahead. From now onwards, he would be my entire world and I would be his.

After our vows, I felt a sudden surge of powerful emotion tug at my heart. Tara quickly explained what was going on with a joyful voice. “Goddess Selene has accepted and blessed our bond, Evelyn. Neko and I are finally one.” Tara announced and I looked at Kayden and his eyes gave all the answers that I needed.

It was time for us to shift now and mark each other.

Kayden shifted first, his clothes tearing off his well built body and I was left mesmerized as this was the first time I had ever seen him in wolf form. He was beautiful, he was big with soft brown fur and green eyes that shone in the moonlight. I blushed again and took a deep breath before shifting as well.

“Don’t worry, this won’t hurt a bit.” I heard Kayden say to me telepathically. The bond is established now so he can pretty much feel and even smell my anxiety but it’s normal since I’ve never felt this way before.

“I trust you completely.” I said back and craned my neck but he surprised me by just licking the fur on my neck.

He moved from my neck to my shoulder and licked softly, tickling me in the process. I closed my eyes and pushed my head back a bit in ecstasy as he sunk his canines into my shoulder.

He was right, it somehow didn’t hurt at all, it instead brought a foreign feeling of pleasure that resonated through me, resting in my core.

I had heard that she wolves usually go into heat after being marked and now I understand what they meant. The teasing and tingling feeling in my nether region was increasing by the second and I was beginning to feel impatient.

Kayden lingered on my shoulder a bit, he removed his canines from my shoulders and licked the mate mark he had left softly, as if kissing it to seal the fact that I only belonged to him and no one else.

Everyone clapped and we both ran into the palace together, still in our wolf forms. We ran towards the door that was already open and Kayden closed it with his hind legs.

We both shifted back to our human form and my eyes widen, my heart beat steadily increasing and my cheeks heating as my eyes softly trail from his beautiful face down to his bare broad chest and further below…………
