Episode 27

We raced each other towards the gates as Tyler took off when we got about 2 miles away from the gate of the Stone Moon pack. We slide to a stop at the gate and take our helmets off for the guards to see us. My Father pulls up behind us in my Jeep and Joy pulls up in their SUV right behind him. The Guard grins at me and says, “What a difference a day makes, huh Jade? Looks like you are having a much better day today.” and waves us all through. I believe he is in my elite training class, but I don’t have everyone’s name yet. I said “Yes, it is a wonderful day”, put my helmet on, and waved at him as I passed by him. I will have to see what his name is at the next training I have with him.

We take off again as we race each other to the Packhouse, with no clear winner as we are all good at riding our bikes and equally matched. I go off and take my helmet off again, hang it on the handlebar, and put my gloves in it. You may not think you need gloves, but if a bug hits your hand while you are doing 80, you won’t think twice again about wearing them. I prefer to enjoy my ride, pain-free.

Dixon and Bree come out and check our bikes. Dixon loves my new bike and says, “One of these days we need to ride together. Asher and I both have Ducati Streetfighter 848’s, but Asher isn’t here very often, and Brax is usually too busy to ride. No one else here has a bike.”.

I hear Bree squeal when she sees the Jeep pull up “Jade, is this yours? You

are so driving us to school tomorrow! I love it!”

“Sure Bree, I can take us to school tomorrow, no problem,” I told her.

“You can go out with us when we go out for a little while before we leave today. We can all ride together.” Tate tells Dixon.

“Dixon nods at Tate and says, “I would love to ride with you guys”.

“Sure, that would be great, let me message Brax to see if he wants to come with us too, the more the merrier,” I told the boys.

I heard squeals again and turned to see Nicole and Jessica step out of the packhouse and up to the Jeep. “Bree told us you got a new Jeep and are driving us to school tomorrow. I love it, Jade!” Nicole says.

“I agree it is the cutest Jeep ever,” Jessica says.

“Girls, Jeep aren’t cute, they are tough,” Dixon tells them.

Nicole, Jessica, and Bree all just roll their eyes. The Pack door opens, and Alpha Andrew and Luna Monica step out, followed closely by Bryan and Audrey, and they all look at the new Jeep. “Nice Jeep Jade,” Luna Monica tells me.

I just motioned to dad and Luna Joy and said “Thanks! Mom, dad, and my brothers got it for me. So, I can travel back and forth between packs and visit them,” and I realized that I had called Joy mom, and I turned to her and said, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to overstep or assume that it would be OK to call you mom without asking. It just seemed right after our conversation this morning”.

Luna Joy comes to me and wraps me in a hug and says, “Of course, you can call me mom, it would be an honor”. Dad comes up behind us and gives us both a hug.

Dad tells them “Since we have missed every birthday, Christmas, and every celebration where she would have gotten something, and all that was kept away from her at Howling Wolf, I just wanted to do that for her and keep her safe, so she got the Jeep. It is from all four of us, and we were all in agreement on it. The Ducati’s were for all three of them for their 18th Birthday, with Tate getting his 6 months early so they could all ride together today. Joy and I are glad to have been able to do that for them. The boys already have a Jeep in our pack, so it is only fair”.

“It is a cute Jeep and I know why the girls are going ga-ga over it,” Aubrey said. “We weren’t questioning why, we all pretty much knew why, it was a wonderful thing to do, and I know she loves it too. You are right, she will be safer on the highway in the Jeep when she travels alone”.

Alpha Andrew and Luna Monica grin at me and Luna Monica says, “I hear you got voluntold that you were driving to school tomorrow by Bree?”

“Yes, but it would be my pleasure to do it,” I told her. “I will be going to school with friends and not be getting picked on and have friends to eat lunch with. I am really very excited about going to school tomorrow. For the first time in a long time.”

“Please let someone know if you get picked on tomorrow Jade,” Luna Monica said, “We will not allow it, and it will be stopped immediately”.

“Mom, I got her, I won’t allow anyone to pick on her tomorrow,” Bree says. I smile over at her and then Dixon chimes in “I will watch out for her too, mom. We will take care of her. Maybe I will get to ride to school with them too”.

“And maybe you won’t, Dixon,” Bree says and then walks off.

“Sure, Dixon, you can ride with us to school. I have room for 5, we can all fit in it”. I tell him.

My dad and Luna Joy are going to get packed up to go back and Tyler and Tate are going in to pack too, as they will send their stuff back in the SUV. They will be leaving an hour after our parents do, to do a quick ride with me before they leave. I was going to miss them so much, I realized as they went into the house to get packed. I go ahead and let the tears fall.

“Jade, are you OK?” I heard Aubrey say. I nod, but the tears keep pouring down.

“I just got them and now they have to leave. I want to spend more time with them, but I feel a pull like I need to be here. Don’t get me wrong, I love you, Bryan, and Nicole, but I just found out I have a dad and a family that loves me and didn’t get upset over the social media videos. I just worry that they will go back to their pack, and they won’t want or need me anymore. I don’t want to lose my new family”, I told her.

“That is not going to happen, Jade, we love you so much already, you are a part of our family and that will not be changing for any reason”, I heard my dad say. He held his arms open to me and I ran over to him for a hug.

“Joy said I was of no help with packing and told me to come back because she felt you were upset, and she was right,” my dad told me.

Yea, it may be because I feel like I can’t trust my own instincts. I just got my wolf and needed more time with her. I felt as though someone cared for me. He didn’t, it was just a trick. Having you all as my family, I am terrified of losing it, like waking up tomorrow and it all has been a dream. I could lose the new bike, the jeep, but I can’t lose you all. It would break my heart.” I told him and pressed my face into his chest and let my tears continue to fall.

My dad hugs me and tells me “No matter what, only death will take us from you. You are stuck with us all from now on”.

“Dad, did you break Jade again? I swear you have made her cry more in 2 days, that you have made me cry in 17 years”, I heard Tate say. He always makes me smile. He is the comedic relief that brings me joy. Tyler hits him on the back and says “stop clowning”, but I could see him smiling and I knew he knew that Tate was just trying to get me to laugh.
