Episode 44

“Stand up Jade and let me check you for injuries,” Mason says gently.

Everyone was sitting down and watching as I stand up for Mason to check my waist and wrists. My waist was already bruising, and you could see light finger marks on my waist where Kyle had gripped my waist with his hands. The boys all growl lowly at seeing the visible marks at my waist and remember just how hard Kyle was holding me to make them. Mason then starts carefully checking out my wrists, one set of fingerprints where Jeremy had grabbed me near my elbow on my left arm, with the finger wrapped in on the inside of my arm when he grabbed me from behind. The last set was at my wrists, and the fingerprint marks were on the back of my wrists where he was holding my wrists with his hands wrapped around them as he held me down and still, as pressed himself into me.

“Who did what to you Jade?” Mason gently asks me. “Walk us through what happened”

I start off where Danica and Sophia recognized Jessica and then saw me and start up with their regular crap. Everyone was listening as I go through what happened. I told them about breaking free from Jeremy’s hold and Kyle grabbed me and pulls me into him. Jessica starts crying and I smile at her to comfort her and tell them all that “I am ok, I am here with you all, safe”. I tell them that I twisted and got clear of Kyle when Eric grabbed my wrist and pulled me into him and when I mentioned that he kissed my neck I hear Mason and Tyler growl and Tyler says, “Ok, the next time I see him I will kick his a*s”

I continue and when I get to the part where he presses himself into me the boys all growl again and Tyler says, “Never mind, I am going to kill him” and Mason growls again as he nods his head in agreement. I didn’t have the heart to mention the second k**s on my neck. They had 95% of the story, there was no need to put that last nail in his coffin.

Braxton says “Sounds like you did pretty good Jade, they are three large men, and one of them is about to be Alpha, and you still managed to get away from each of them. You were scared and you still remembered your training. I am so proud of you, you didn’t panic in a very stressful situation, and you tried to get away. You are not alone here. I wish I had come in with you guys. If we come here again, you will never be alone here again, you don’t have to worry. We will keep you safe, and yes we will continue training with some more aggressive counter moves so you will feel safer”.

I sat in the sun to get dry on the lower deck and pulled my knees up to my chest and hug my legs to me as it gave me some comfort. Tyler goes and pulls up the anchors (we dropped two) and starts the boat up. Tate comes and sits next to me and pulls me over towards him and k****s the top of my head. I smell that wonderful scent again, look over to the boat we are passing and see a handsome man, a larger version of Dixon slow dancing on the boast we are passing, He looks up as if he can sense me too and turns to look at me. I see the woman he is dancing with look up to him and use her hand to turn his face back to her, and I see it is Ashley. I am stunned. I know this feeling I have felt it before. I continue to look back at the other boat and see him again looking back at me, and Ashley looking over to see what he is looking at sees me, pulls his face down to hers, and k****s him. She is kissing my mate! Asher Morris is my second chance mate. Why? Goddess. Why? Obviously, he is still messing around with that slut.

What have I done to be punished like this? Did I kill someone in a previous life? I cannot understand why I have gotten two manwhores as mates. Why couldn’t it have been Mason? Or Dixon? Or even Braxton? They would have ALL been better choices. Why am I being punished like this? I give up. Apparently, I am not meant to have a good life or a mate that I can trust.

I whimper and throw my head back and look up at the sky, Tate looks down at me and arches his eyebrow? I feel a tear come out of the corner of my eye and run down my face. Tate sits up and leans in towards me and asks, “Are you ok Jade” and another tear escapes before I can whisper to him “No, but I can’t explain it to you right now. I will tell you all tonight when we get back to our rental”.

Tate nods at me and pulls me back to him and I put my head on his shoulder. I am trying to process this. My mind is literally freaking out. I never wanted this, I would have been happy with Mason, why couldn’t it have been Mason? What is the purpose of hurting me continually? Goddess, what is your plan? Why Asher? He didn’t seem surprised at all come to think of it, it was like he already knew. Great, so now I have someone else that doesn’t want me and was likely just waiting to reject me, but with him sleeping around as he does, and with Ashley too, I don’t know if I want him, no matter how good he smells to me and Ivory.

“Mate knew,” Ivory says.

“What do you mean, I have never met him, so how could he have possibly known we were mates?” I ask Ivory.

“You don’t pay enough attention Jade, Mate was in our room, I smelled him several weeks ago, but I didn’t know who the scent belonged to. I smelled him last night when we got back from rejecting Calvin. He was there but he was behind you, I smelled him, but before I could tell you, he left. You had your back to him, and I didn’t know who it was until I just saw him. You have been so stressed with Calvin, and Ashley, keeping good grades, and your training and losing weight, I was just going to wait until I knew who our second chance mate was before I let you know. When I knew, you were going to know”. Ivory said.

“It is ok Ivory, you were right, I wasn’t paying attention. I was focused on school, applying for scholarships, spending time with my family, and training and the weight loss that I didn’t notice.” I tell her.

“My sense of smell is stronger than yours, if you had been in wolf form you would have smelled him in your room. The smell was faint, and it wasn’t your fault, my senses are just stronger than yours. Tate is very worried about you.” Ivory says.

“How do you know?” I asked.

“His wolf Connor is reaching out to me to check on you” Ivory replies.

“He felt my reaction, he knows something is wrong, but he doesn’t know if it is because of the incident at the beach, or not,” I say to Ivory.

“I will speak to him, I know he is worried, but there is nothing he can do to help me with this. I will not keep it from them, I will tell them all tonight.” I tell Ivory.

I hug Tate again and tell him “I am ok, it wasn’t about the incident at the Sandbar. Something else happened, but I will tell everyone as a group tonight. I love you but I can’t get you and Tyler away from the group to tell you as he is driving and you are both going to be angry anyway, well I am 99% sure that the whole group is going to be angry, but for now, thank you for loving me and protecting me. I could not have been given better brothers than I got with you and Tyler. I love and trust you both and I am so thankful that I have you two, and Dad and mom. I love you all and I know you love me back, I don’t know what I did to deserve you all, I won the family lottery with you guys”. Tate k****s the top of my head again, and I close my eyes and rest for a bit.
