“So, what now?” Lacy asked with interest as she eyed the Alpha King sitting on the armchair next to her.

One of the dark brown coffee tables sat in front of them, bearing what seemed to be a cute dagger and some other questionable objects. She would have loved to be silent and just watch when and how he’d get started, but since he came back from going for the stuff, he had only placed them on the table and turned strangely quiet, seemingly deep in thought.

Granted, the Alpha King was stoic and quiet and broody most of the time, but this time, it was so unnerving that she just had to break the silence, hence her rather pointed statement.

The male Lyken stared back at her, an unreadable expression on his face. “Now, I have to tell you how the Rejection Process works and to be honest with you, Lacy…” He trailed off to take a deep breath, “It’s a bit, weird.”

Lacy felt her breath pick up at his words as she wondered just how weird he was talking about. “Um, how weird are we talking about exactly?”

Was the Almighty Alpha King uncomfortable? She couldn’t help but notice.

“There’s going to be b***d, and kissing… it’s just… weird.”

Lacy felt her heart begin to thump powerfully in her chest, but she willed herself to appear calm and cool and collected, “Okay. Well, b***d doesn’t scare me, and this isn’t really our first rodeo in sharing a k**s, I think we can do this yeah? Let’s… let’s just get it over and done with, and stop making me nervous with all of this piercing silence.”

“Alright, fine.” He said, going back to his normal, blank, unreadable self. He adjusted himself in the chair, practically facing her as he prepared to give her instructions as to how they were supposed to go about the process. “So, you take the dagger, call out the Moon Goddess, Selene’s name three times while wielding it, and then you slice your thumb, wait for the b***d to start spilling and then press your thumb against my lips, leaving a print of your b***d on there. I’ll do same to you, and then we say the words of rejection and then seal it with a k**s. Should we get started? I hope you caught everything.”

Woah, woah, woah.

Lacy’s stomach lurched uncomfortably.

That was kind of like a whole lot!

For a moment, she didn’t even know what to tell the man sitting before her.

“You sure you’re still up for it?” He asked her, something akin to a smirk on his face. He was taunting her, that much was obvious, but was Lacy going to get this opportunity to escape from her life here again?

She couldn’t be too sure.

If she had learnt anything in her almost one month stay here, it was that the Alpha King was unpredictable as f**k.

Why was she going to give up the one chance she had to get what she wanted simply because she was slightly uncomfortable?

Was it because deep down, she knew she didn’t really want to leave him? Was it because she knew that if she gave him a little more time, they could actually work things out?

Hell, when she got here, he could barely stand her, but they had actually made huge advancements in terms of their relationship if she was being honest.

Okay, okay… perhaps it wasn’t as great a stride as one would like, but it wasn’t so bad though right?

Why the hell was she second guessing herself now though?

Taking a deep breath, she said, “I think so… though I’m not quite sure how exactly I’m supposed to call unto the Moon Goddess,”

“I’ll go first.” He murmured, turning his chair so that this time he was facing her completely. Lacy felt her heart rate pick up at the proximity and the intensity in his gaze. She watched with bated breath as he reached for the dagger and whispered, “Oh, Selene, Supreme Goddess of the moon… Oh, Selene, Supreme Goddess of the moon, Oh, Selene, Supreme Goddess of the moon,” He carefully sliced his thumb with the sharp dagger, watching with interest as his b***d, fresh and crimson gushed out of the wound, then he smeared his b***d against her lips, softly caressing her full succulent, kissable lips as he briefly wondered how it would have felt to have them wrapped around his c**k, pleasuring him senseless until he was spasming with pleasure, filling her eager mouth with his hot seed. He painfully shut the memory, paying attention to the ritual they were working on instead, “I, Reed Alderon Winchester, Lyken King and Alpha of the B***d Moon Clan, reject you, Lacy Reynolds, a mere human, as my fated mate.” His eyes silently told her that it was her turn, and so she took the dagger from his outstretched hand, paying extra attention so her hand didn’t touch his to spark any feelings she wasn’t ready for, and then she started, “Oh, Selene, Supreme Goddess of the moon… Oh, Selene, Supreme Goddess of the moon… Oh, Selene, Supreme Goddess of the moon,” She sliced her thumb, wincing painfully at the stinging reaction, her body a little queasy at the sight of her own b***d.

Yes, she was a nurse, and she was okay with b***d as long as it was not her own, sue her.

And then it was time to smear her b***d across the Alpha King’s lips.

To be honest, it was the part of the whole ritual that Lacy surprisingly dreaded. It wasn’t even the finger cutting part, and judging from the satisfied smirk that sat on the Alpha King’s lips, it was pretty obvious that even he greatly looked forward to the moment.

You’re almost done, Lacy. Just this… and then you can go home.

Her subconscious encouraged. She took a deep breath at the motivating words. Of course, she could do this. She had to. And so, with renewed vigor, she reached out tentatively and rubbed her b***d across his lips. A gasp of fear and horror and surprisingly pleasure escaped her though when she tried to pull away only for him to suck her thumb into his mouth, his warm heat and the satisfied smirk on his face sending heatwaves down her lady parts. “Mm, tastes so good. I’ve always wanted to do that.” He m****d when he let go, his eyes shining with mirth at the way she seemed completely dumbfounded.

“Let’s go on.” He urged when ages had passed and it seemed like she had forgotten what to do, but Lacy couldn’t bring herself to launch into the next part.

The kissing part.

She couldn’t k**s him now?

Not when she was feeling like this?

Not when she oh so desperately wanted to straddle him and grind her center against his hard c**k? Yes, the Alpha King was unashamedly hard as he sat there proudly. It was as though he wanted her to see it, wanted her to see just how much of an effect she had on him. It was hot, it was dirty, and Lacy was loving every little bit of it.

To k**s him would mean bringing an end to all of it for good.

Did she really want that?

“Lacy, come on… let’s finish this.”

She cleared her throat to rid her mind off all the doubts, “Sure. I, Lacy Reynolds, a mere human reject you, Reed Alderon Winchester, the Alpha and the Lyken King of the B***d Moon Pack as my fated mate.” She closed her eyes and leaned in, almost sighing in relief when Reed pressed his lips against hers. The k**s was surprisingly chaste and sweet…

And then it was done.

“Do you feel any different?” Reed asked her. He didn’t have the effects she had been facing, and so the only way they could all tell for sure that the Rejection Process had really worked was if she actually confirmed it, but looking at the girl, it seemed that she wasn’t so sure.

“Perhaps I should go out and come in again? I can still smell you.”

“Smell me? What do I smell like?” The Alpha King was curious.

Lacy blushed a hot pink, “You smell… um, well, you smell like sandalwood, honey and musk.”

“But I use none of these things.” This time he was confused, and so was Lacy, “I don’t think you have to use them… I guess that’s just what the mate bond uses to make me drawn to you? I don’t really know.” She shrugged. “Perhaps, I need to go out and come in again so we can actually confirm if it worked.” She suggested.

“That wouldn’t hurt, I guess.”

Lacy stood up and slowly walked out, closing the door behind her. She stood there for a few minutes, taking in a deep breath, praying to the Moon Goddess that the ritual would work so she’d have her freedom, but when she opened the door, the strong scent of honey, musk and sandalwood hit her nose again, she didn’t know, perhaps even stronger than before.

The rejection ritual did not work after all, it seemed.
