“Alpha Smith, I’m afraid you’ve committed the gravest error you could have possibly made.”

The gravest error.

All those months that had gone by, and the visiting fae’s words still played loud and clear in the Alpha of the Blue Valley Pack’s mind like he was just hearing it for the first time.

He remembered that day very well.

It was at his mating ceremony with Alexia.

It had been the talk of the century, grand and lavish just like he liked his stuff.

He had had no memory of Lacy then, thought that he was just a not so bad single Alpha werewolf marrying a she-wolf who made him truly happy, and though she was not his fated mate, it did not even matter, for he believed himself to be in love and particularly attracted to her warm, wet cunt.

He had taken a while getting to know her, four years actually, more for himself than for his pack (yes Lucius Smith was that self-absorbed) and when he had been convinced that she was the one, he had proposed and she had eagerly said yes.

Their love was not the perfect love that most dreamed of, for he seemed more interested in the almost fantastical s*x drive and the fact that she was always eager for him and let him do whatever he damned pleased with her, and he was not stupid, he equally knew that she was just with him for the power and fame.

Seems like the perfect marriage, right?

So, you can imagine his surprise, and a little bit of annoyance when this cocky, tall, wiry, baldheaded man had approached him when the main ceremony was over and they were gathered at the packhouse for a lavish reception, receiving warm wishes, gifts and thanking everyone for making it to their special day, telling him the very words that had been stuck in his head since, “Alpha Smith, I’m afraid you’ve committed the gravest error you could have possibly made.”

“Who the f**k are you, and what are you talking about?” He had asked, unable to control his rapidly growing irritation, completely sure that this fae was not one he knew.

Alexia stood with him in a white outfit that was too sexy and revealing to pass for a wedding gown, equally confused as to who the strange Fae was and what exactly her new husband and chosen mate had done that could be classified as a grave error.

“I am Klaus, and I am a memory Fae, what you hounds call a seer.” At that point, the Alpha of the Blue Valley Pack almost lost it and called for the supernatural being before him to be thrown out, an insult such as that needed not be overlooked so simply, but the fae had a look he knew too well.

He had a look that Lucius was pretty familiar with, though most of the time, he was the one who had that look gracing his features.

A satisfied, conceited look that screamed he knew something that Lucius didn’t, and the Alpha Werewolf would be damned if he didn’t find out what that was.

And so, he had asked the fae, Klaus, to join him in his study, jumping right to the point even before the door had shut closed. “Now, what the f**k did you want to tell me?”

Perhaps it had had something to do with the no nonsense look on his face, or the fact that the seer as he called himself just couldn’t wait to divulge the news, “You have a wife, Alpha Smith, so technically, this marriage should not be happening.”

Lucius had not been impressed, and he had told the Memory Fae so, and the wiry man, convinced that this was only going to go back and forth and yield no positive result had sighed deeply and said, “Let me show you instead,” He pulled the werewolf into a weird white light before the poor man could protest.

They reappeared almost a second later, everything fully revealed to him, the werewolf sick to his stomach at how truly vile he was.

At what he had done!

But that was not all he had learnt on top of all that that his mate Lacy was the Dark Witch, and that he had let her go.

His legs had not been able to support him, and he had weakly collapsed into his seat, completely stunned, “What do you want? Why did you show me all of this?”

“Isn’t it obvious?” The Fae smiled wickedly, “I want money, and you, my friend, are going to provide it all.”

“Or what?” Lucius had asked, his eyes glowing a striking blue as his wolf came to the surface,

“Or I’m going to your Werewolf council, you know… telling them all about your dirty little secret. I’ve been told that they hate divorce with a passion, and that it could be grounds for you losing your position permanently… and would you look at that, it seems like your case’s much, much worse. Who knows,” He shrugged, “Maybe I’ll take it up with the Supernatural council too. I’m pretty sure they’d love to hear this as well.”

Lucius had been super pissed, because in the end, he was the one who usually did the threatening, but he equally knew that this was a very sensitive issue, and that he had to thread lightly, and so he had admitted defeat, letting the fae think that he had won.

He had given him a starting payment, right from the Lyken Heirlooms his father had wrongfully obtained, and then sworn him to secrecy, promising to offer the rest as soon as possible, and then right when the Fae had left, he had had his men ambush and kill him with the thigh bone of a feline, the only thing Fae were surprisingly not immune to.

But the damned Fae had been smart, he had informed someone on the Werewolf Council already, and so Lucius had had to take care of that too, buying their silence with the precious stolen jewels, and then he had moved on to the Supernatural Council, basically covering his tracks and bribing his way out of what would have certainly caused him his position.

But there was really no denying it, he had f****d up.

Big time.

It was crazy, but in his defense, he had no idea that he had been causing his first chosen mate that much harm and over and over again too. And he had had no idea that the knowledge of what he done would make him become even more vile.

He had completely been in the dark about it, filled with this overwhelming need to reject Lacy, and to be honest, if the memory fae that had visited his realm a few months ago hadn’t actually revealed it to him and showed him undeniable proof of all the times he had betrayed their love and even gotten her killed, he would have never believed it.

Sure, their marriage had been failing, and the Werewolf Council was totally against divorce. And yes, he had been cheating on her with Alexia,

But he was not that desperate nor that heartless that he’d end her life over that?

Lacy was, and always had been weak… hell, she probably still was.

Gullible, and so easily manipulated, and kind of masochist if he was being very honest, and he was pretty sure he could have eventually convinced her that she was the problem while he got to relieve his sudden desire for the she-wolf that had pushed him to end his marriage to a woman who now was practically the most powerful person in all five realms.

But it had all happened.

And now, there was really no f*****g point crying over spilt milk.

What he needed to do was come up with a strategy, but what exactly?

He was not so sure, all he knew was that he needed to get to her before she got a hold of her powers, needed to seize her while she was still malleable, so he could mold her to his heart’s content and truly be the most powerful being he had always been destined to be.

The question now was how?

“You never have time for me, Lucius!” A shrill, annoying voice complained, snapping him out of his thoughts. “Ever since you learnt of the existence of your former wife, you have ignored my very own existence, have you forgotten that you left her for me?”

“What exactly do you want from me?” The Alpha of the blue valley pack stared blankly at the she wolf, a look of pure exasperation drawn in the depths of his eyes. “I made you Alpha Queen, Alexia… leaving my wife for you… thinking that your cunt would be more likely to bear me an heir, and what do I get? You’re as barren as they come!” Satisfaction welled in his heart at the way she flinched slightly when he raised his voice, and yet he continued nonetheless, “And if it wasn’t for the fact that the council is almost on to me, I would have dumped your pathetic a*s and moved on to the next b***h who can get me what I want.” He stood up, “But you know what,” He shot her an amused smile, “At this point, no one else can do it for me, no one but my real wife, Alexia. At this point, I don’t even care about an heir anymore, all I care about is power, and Lacy’s got lots of it, lots that I can control to my very own whim.”

“Well, you think her new mate would just sit back and do nothing and watch you just come and claim her?” Alexia’s smirk was vindictive, and cruel, and amused all in one. “You let her go, Lucius… what makes you think that she would be so willing to come back to you? To live it all again a second time? Face it, you lost. You f****d up, and now, you’re stuck with me, though even I am not sure I’ll be by your side for much longer.”

“What do you mean by that, b***h?” The Alpha werewolf growled angrily, closing the distance between them.

“Has it for a second crossed your mind, Lucius, that if you haven’t been able to get two women in your life to conceive, chances are, you are the problem?”

A loud smack to her cheek cut off the satisfied smirk that was forming on her face at how her words had struck him the way she had intended it to. “You b***h!” He closed the distance between them and grabbed her by the throat, choking the life out of her, “No one talks to me in that manner and lives, and it just so happens that you have finished playing your role in my life and are now just a hindrance. So, let’s get rid of you, shall we?”

His claws emerged on his right hand at those words, his poor wife’s eyes widening as she tried to beg him for mercy, but his hold on her throat was too powerful, all she could manage were choking sounds, a few tears streaming down her face as she tried to plead for her life.

But it was too late.

The powerful wolf heartlessly ripped her heart out of her chest, stomping on the still beating organ with his heel, like it was an insect he needed to punish, and then he watched on with glee as she trashed for a little while in his arms and then suddenly became still, dead.

He dropped her to the ground carelessly, his claws retracting back into his flesh as he calmly headed to his desk for something to clean his bloody hands.

When he was done, he looked at her, and shot a glance at the raging fire in the fireplace in his office,

And then all of a sudden, he knew just what he had to do.
